How to post in this forum
This forum has been created specifically for aiding in the re-homing of URGENT dogs that are in a rescue situation. (see below for more info on what constitutes a rescue situation). Keep all 'general' rescue discussion in the main Rescue forum.
To better enable the most effective use of this forum, if you start a new topic,
please ensure you accept responsibility to update the current status as required so that obsolete information is kept to a minimum.
When creating the title, please post in the format specified (on the post screen) so potential rescuers have a good idea of things from the title without having to open the thread.
When you deem the dog is no longer in need of rescue, please edit the initial post and use the

symbol to alert the moderators that it needs to be moved to the 'Past Requests' forum. This will unclog the Request forum, whilst still allowing people to discuss past rescues if they desire.
If the dog is no longer deemed 'Urgent' but is still in need of rescue and you wish for it to be transferred to the 'Non-Urgent' forum, please Click the 'Report' button and request the thread be moved to non-urgent.
What is a rescue dog?In order to keep this Rescue Forum as useful as possible (and to help the dogs in greatest need), please use these 2 simple criteria when posting.
- All dogs listed must be genuine rescues. (i.e. the dog is currently either in a pound/animal refuge or in a foster care situation). Private re-homing is not generally premitted unless the dog risks being harmed, neglected, or will be surrendered to a pound if a home is not found quickly (also see below about private re-homing).
- Dogs in a private home, foster care or in a rescue groups/individuals care must be advertised as desexed. The only exemption is when the dog is;
1) Elderly
2) Too young (There must be a condition in the contract where the dog must be desexed when old enough AND/OR a desexing voucher given. Please state this condition when posting.)
Private re-homingIf you need to re-home your own dog (or you need to re-home a dog on behalf of the current owner) and it is not urgent, please see the "
Do you want to re-home your dog" topic for help. A dog in his situation is not really rescue and as such has more appropriate areas where they can be advertised. This will free up the resources for this forum for the dogs in real need.

Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter
What you need to know;
Contact numbers for Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter are (02) 4560 4644 and 4560 4643.
If phones are unattended please leave a message and your call will be returned ASAP.
All messages and emails are checked prior to PTS.
PTS is each Wednesday (all going well) and is as early as 8am.
All dogs are C3 vaccinated upon arrival at the pound and wormed, most are also flea treated.
All dogs marked as 'has name' should not be assumed as Safe as many lose that option at the last minute and need rescue after all.
Hawkesbury is a very large pound which services three areas, we have a high turnover of dogs.
Kennel space is therefore premium and we ask that you take this into account by arranging for early transport, temp care and/or boarding if necessary. If you are able to assist a dog, please get them out of the pound ASAP unless prior arrangements have been made with Staff.
Failure to collect due dogs can & will affect the fate of other deserving souls arriving at the shelter, particularly overdue & surrendered souls.
If you are unable to rescue though would like to assist animals with transport, temp care or other assistance we would love to hear from you, please let us know as early as possible on the thread.
Ann is the Rescue Coordinator for HP. Her direct line is 45604643. If you would like to assist or enquire about an urgent dog/cat please call & leave a message prior to 8am or it will be too late.

DESCRIPTION: staffy x

INFO: Tia was rehomed by us in February of this year. Tia was brilliant with other dogs, showed no sign of any bad behaviour at all and overall was a beautiful natured dog. On the 19th of July, she was surrendered by her owner because Tia is apparently extremely dog aggressive and food aggressive. She has multiple scars on her head and face and looks like she has been through hell. Tia needs some help. She is still a very affectionate dog but does show some signs of dog aggression, but not to the point that the owner would suggest. We believe that her behaviour is based on her treatment in the last few months and that she can definately be rehabilitated.
I have had a 2nd opinion from Sandy Lack from Open Paw who advised that Tia's more likely has been mistreated and needs rehabilitation.
If anyone can please help Tia we would really appreciate it. We obviously don't have the time that Tia needs and until she gets the rehabilitation she needs we will not rehome her to the public. Our only option is to find a rescue organisation that can help her.

Name:
Breed: Mini Foxy

[attachment=220544:Buddy.jpg]Buddy, 11 though actually 12 mths now, is out of time.
black and white boy who is sociable beyond belief. Loves to play ball(doesn't give it back yet) and tug o war. Would make some kids very happy or possibly even do agility. He is very athletic and agile, but doesn't use this in any negative way. Far too nice to go out in a bag.
He plays with, amongst others"=:
Milly, 2 years. female, now out of time.
white with black patches who likes to play, so long as her playmates dont get in her face all of the time. She has a very sweet affectionate side that people are missing, because the shelter environment is not good for her. Her tiny bit of herding instinct, means small children would be inappropriate.....but older kids and adults.....no problem.
Both these gorgeous dogs were surrenders and we would love to see them have a good home.
They are still available and will keep as long as possible......but more coming.
see website.
