Okay.. sounds like a maybe. There are a few things we need to know before committing- if anyone can help out with bits of information that would be great.

Availability of dog friendly accomodation?
Venues- we usually need a room with power (classroom size would likely be fine) a pound or shelter and an oval/ park/ property?

Ideas for any of these would be great and then we can perhaps start planning

cooldance.gif

Dog friendly accom might be abit of a problem. There are none (as far as i know) close to Adelaide city. There are a couple down on the Fleurieu Peninsula which depending on the accom that is chosen can be anywhere up to an hour away from the centre of town. Having said that there would always be the option of getting accom there and holding the seminar down south so that travel time's are not so much of a hassle. There are a few dog friendly places listed under Accomodation on the dogzonline home page. smile.gif

There are a couple of dog training places down south (Southern Districts Kennel & obedience club & Noarlunga City obedience dog club), but i can't offer an opinion on wether they are suitable as i've never seen or been to them myself sorry.

All just ideas and i'm sure if someone doesn't agree they will let me know biggrin.gif

But the best option yet, you stay at my house (i'd have to kick the housemate out, alright! laugh.gif ) and i will run you around where ever you want to go! cool.gif

ETA if you have any specific questions about anything Cosmolo i'm more than willing to answer them. Likewise if you need someone to do the groundwork from here. Please feel free to PM me.

I would be interested in finding out more about this also when you know more.
Would it be an all day seminar on both days or two half days?

Its usually 2 full days but you can choose what you attend each day.

Thanks Melbomb- i will pm you. It can be hard to organise things alone when you don't know the area!

I would particularly interested in temperament testing.

Dog friendly accommodation - might be easiest if you find an interested party to accommodate. smile.gif (Dogs + owners are welcome here as long as dogs are crate trained.)

Another option may be Holdfast Bay Dog Centre's inside facilities. I know dogs are allowed inside there, but don't believe they are at many other dog clubs.

The following would be possible options- October 3rd/4th, 7th/8th November, 19th/20th December

Could anyone let me know if there are special events in Adelaide on any of these dates? Thanks in advance

Where I used to take Remy for agility;

GSDC Grounds, Pedigree Park, West Beach has a nice grassy area and the clubhouse would fit, I would say, a fair amount of people.

Sue Hogben is doing some Obedience and Agility seminars there from the 24th - 26th of April.

Judging by the calendar for agility, the dates you mentioned would be free apart from 7th November (Southern Districts Kennel & Obedience Club - Agility Trial).

It would be a good middle ground if RSPCA and AWL decided to join in, as they are extreme North and South.

Fevah, are the contacts for the GSDC grounds the DOGS SA numbers listed?

Leema- we have 4 dogs.. so might be a bit much for someone? Although they are all friendly, well behaved and crate trained. They ahve stayed with Raelene and edslaine on DOL if anyone needs references laugh.gif

Gracie i will check out that link now, thanks

Cosmolo there is a lovely Bed and Breakfast in the Hills where dogs are allowed inside. Hilltop I think is what its called from memory. I recommended it when a couple of friends came over for the Nationals.

As for grounds - problem with the GSD club grounds is that they train there on a Sunday morning. I would possibly try Holdfast as like people have said dogs are welcome in the club rooms.

One of the reasons the Sue Hogben seminars are being held at the GSD grounds is that they are organised by the Obedience and Agility Advisory committee and they are considered the "second" DogSA grounds.

Holdfast have grounds at Brighton - hmmm will find their website.

http://www.holdfastdogs.org.au/opentime.htm

It appears they now have weekend classes too. Venue wise its tough. The DogsSA grounds at Kilburn and rooms are available to hire. Cost would be on the DogsSA website.

I'm completely useless when it comes to offering suggestions or information for where to hold the seminar or find accommodation as I wouldn't even know where to start, but if there's anything I can do to help out please let me know. smile.gif
