Kepala dates for 2010The DOL Kepala event is held every very second Sunday (see the dates below) unless there is a major clash of events. Generally, they like us to have 10 or more dogs, so if it looks like we won't have enough then we will usually reschedual. However, its been popular enough to keep going for a few years now!
Usually, we will have the lagoon aka outdoor pool was 10.30-2 and the run that's adjacent. However, we are certainly welcome to use the other runs and equipment, such as the agility run and the sand run - when not being used by other Kepala people.
Kepala Dates for 2010
February - Sunday 14th (how romantic!)
March- Sunday 14th (because Feb is only 28days)
April - Sunday 11th
May - Sunday 9th - this is Mother's Day, so we shall have to do a number check to see if we have enough

June - Sunday 13th
July - Sunday 11th
August - Sunday 8th
September - Sunday 12th
October - Sunday 10th
November - Sunday 14th
December - Sunday 12th
Should these dates change we will change this post.
Now, the basics
For anyone who does want to come along, there a few things to know:
1. We are going to have fun and let the dogs have fun (this is a big one!)
2. If your dog is not so good with others, it is ok because there are other runs you can use
3. We want ALL the dogs to have fun, so no humping, fighting etc allowed. And as above there are other runs we can use.
4. The more the merrier
5. Not restricted to DOL members
6. $15.00 PER dog (Sorry, but there is no discount for bringing multiple dogs/puppies, its $15 a dog/puppy. Has been this way since we started).
7. BYO drinks
8. We usually each bring something.
9. I am happy for those who do not bring food to pay $5.00 but i need to know how many are not bringing anything so I can make sure we have enough.
Contact and LocationKepala Canine Country Club is located next door to Kepala Pet Resort.
We are just off the Calder Hwy, directly opposite the Good Year Thunderdome.
Refer to map below.
Address:
55 Edwards Road, Diggers Rest.
Melways map ref: 3, A1
http://www.kepalak9countryclub.com.au/About%20Us.htmAnd Finally- We usually have a Kepala thread seperate to this one for each month, where people post if they are coming, what they will bring, how much they are looking forward to it since the last one etc etc. Its also where we usually post the Kepala pics for that month too. So if you are thinking of coming, that's the first place to check out.
For any further information please contact Lappiemum, or one of the other Kepala people.
Hope to see you and your dogs there soon!!!

Hi everyone!
Little Miss Ella is turning 1 on the 28th August but due to OH having his birthday 2 days after hers, her birthday weekend got taken over by him. Selfish of him I know
So on
Saturday 4th September from about
2pm I would like to invite you along to....
Ellas Birthday!!
I will be providing treats of the human and canine variety (think cupcakes and home made doggie biscuits etc) to nibble on while the pooches have a play. It's been ages since Ella has seen some of you and having a big play with the dogs will make her happiest birthday girl... so how can you say no to that?
Details:When: Saturday 4th September
Time: 2pm
Where: Wandi Community Hall
Wandi Hall is a massive oval next to an equastrian center. The weekend is free from pony activity and the oval is distanced from the road. We take Ella here nearly every weekend for a play and run and she loves all the smells around the place! it's also got a tap for water
Would love for you to come along as she hasn't had a big play for awhile, if not no worries
Thanks!
Jen

This thread is a photo and chat thread for DOLers in Warrnambool and surrounds
and is rarely used as a social events organizer.
Those with dial-up internet connection need to be aware that it is photo intensive.

Ok, that was lame I know, but I have a headcold and its the best I can do at the moment!
Kepalaites, you know the score, name, dog and your BBQ goodies. However, the catch is that we won't be there this time around as we'll be in Adelaide - but I'm sure you guys can organise yourselves, and I expect to see LOTS of happy zoomie pics!!

that Kootingal is in woop woop and you probably are wondering who would go to a get together
BUT
the Tamworth Dog Show is on the October long weekend AND it actually is at Kootingal!
So I'm thinking if anyone is up to meeting at the Bowling Club on the Saturday night for a chinese meal, they do a really nice one! Far better than your normal country chinese. or meeting at some other time!
I'm sure that if no one wanted to leave their dogs at the showground whilst they were out we could work out using crates something at my place
My place and the Bowling Club are all easy safe walking distance from the showground

Hi everyone,
Unfortunately I have only been lucky enough to meet 3 DOLers IRL as my darling CASD Jake is not at all social and I am very shy and awkward away from home, but I was hoping that some of you may be interested in coming up to our property at Lower Hermitage/Inglewood (near Tea Tree Gull/Modbury) on Sunday September 18th for a tree planting working bee. We have between 600-800 native tree seedlings to plant before it dries up and we are running out of time. I will be 37 weeks pregnant so I am happy to organise a bbq and salads for lunch time as I won't be able to do much planting. We have a fencing contractor up here now putting in all the poles but the wire won't be up by then so it would unfortunately need to be a dog free day. When the weather warms up and the fences are finished I am happy to have a dog outing so the dogs can have a run and swim in the dam in anyone likes.
We are trying to fence off the watercourses to help prevent erosion and give the native birds some habitat and I also want some trees planted in my new kangaroo yard (also poles only), we already have two areas where we have done this and the trees are looking great. The area is where we are about to build our house, the shed is up and there is a portaloo so it isn't too primitive. If anyone likes we can go for an explore and meet the horses, ponies, camels, donkeys, emus, sheep/black/white lambs etc and we also have a small winter waterfall that is fenced off too if anyone would like to go for a hike.
I feel really uncomfortable putting this out there but I would certainly appreciate it if anyone has any spare time on that day to come and get their hands dirty.
I am happy to pm our address if anyone wishes to come up
Thank you

Lesley and I will be in Canberra on the 17th of August for a couple of days to attend the roundtable meeting with the RSPCA for the MDBA.
While we are there it would be good to meet up with anyone who might be even a little bit interested in being involved with MDBA Pacers.
In case you are not aware as yet we are in the process of helping people to set up and be involved in their own clubs under the MDBA Pacers banner as chartered clubs.
[sort of similar structure to Rotary or apex etc] This will mean we can help people more effficiently and effectively when they strike natural or personal disasters. It also means we can keep the fundraising from the local communities within those communities. The vision is to have an MDBA Pacers club close to you to help out with you and your animals no matter where you live or what happens.
So please if you have even a glimmer of an interest in being involved or if you just want to come and say good aye in person please put your hand up now.

I got a message from a Qld Tibbie breeder. They're starting a Tibetan Spaniel Social Club of Qld .
It's for both pet & show Tibbies and their owners to have some regular, relaxed meet-ups. Just for the pleasure of getting together!
It'll be a great chance for our Tibbies to socialise with their kind & for owners to chat with each other. And swap tales & tips. I guess the majority of the meet-ups will be in Brisbane & the areas around.
There's a form to fill in applying to join, with a modest yearly membership fee of something like $5.
Please pass word around to Qld Tibbie owners. All Tibbies welcome, pet and show.
Anyone interested can email me & I'll pass on the copy of the application for membership form (which has the name & contact details of the Tibbie show-person who's organising it).
marhutch@ozemail.com.au
I think this is a great move by the Qld Tibbie breeders, to bring together all the people who love their Tibetan Spaniels.

I thought I might try and organise a get together in melbourne.
I haven't thought about exact locations, I thought I would gather some interested people and then try and pick a place central to the majority.
Obviously a doggie play date if possible.
Anyone keen?

Hi Everyone. Just wanting to see if anyone is interested in a doggy playdate. I live in the Albury/Wodonga area and would like to socialize my border collie more. With hubby being in the Defence Force we move around so this makes it hard to make friends and so far all the ones i have made here don't have dogs

Willow is almost 12 months old and is quite submissive, but can also be a little in your face and very excited. Dogs would need to be of medium size as she can be a bit full on for the littles. We have a maltese also but she needs someone her own size to have a play with. Let me know if your interested
