How to post in this forum
This forum has been created specifically for aiding in the re-homing of dogs that are in a rescue situation and are not urgent. (see below for more info on what constitutes a rescue situation). Keep all 'general' rescue discussion in the main Rescue forum.
To better enable the most effective use of this forum, if you start a new topic,
please ensure you accept responsibility to update the current status as required so that obsolete information is kept to a minimum.
When creating the title, please post in the format specified (on the post screen) so potential rescuers have a good idea of things from the title without having to open the thread.
When you deem the dog is no longer in need of rescue, please edit the initial post and use the

symbol to alert the moderators that it needs to be moved to the 'Past Requests' forum. This will unclog the Request forum, whilst still allowing people to discuss past rescues if they desire.
If the dog's status changes (eg it's needs change to urgent) and you wish for it to be transferred to the 'Urgent' forum, please Click the 'Report' button and request the thread be moved to urgent.
What is a rescue dog?In order to keep this Rescue Forum as useful as possible (and to help the dogs in greatest need), please use these 2 simple criteria when posting.
- All dogs listed must be genuine rescues. (i.e. the dog is currently either in a pound/animal refuge or in a foster care situation). Private re-homing is not generally premitted unless the dog risks being harmed, neglected, or will be surrendered to a pound if a home is not found quickly (also see below about private re-homing).
- Dogs in a private home, foster care or in a rescue groups/individuals care must be advertised as desexed. The only exemption is when the dog is;
1) Elderly
2) Too young (There must be a condition in the contract where the dog must be desexed when old enough AND/OR a desexing voucher given. Please state this condition when posting.)
Private re-homingIf you need to re-home your own dog (or you need to re-home a dog on behalf of the current owner) and it is not urgent, please see the "
Do you want to re-home your dog" topic for help. A dog in his situation is not really rescue and as such has more appropriate areas where they can be advertised. This will free up the resources for this forum for the dogs in real need.

I don't often ask, but need some DOL help. I took this girl on when I was ok, but have since had major health problems. She is a challenge to rehome because she is a high drive working breed and I'm living in the country, which makes things harder because I had to give up my job and don't have a car.
She is a young girl (just over 12 months), all vet work done, she is what I think to be a working lines short coat BC. She shows great herding potential so far or would excel at agility. Really learns quickly and loves to please.
If things were normal with me I'd be able to drive her down to Adelaide to check out foster homes, but I'm limited to homes around here and I haven't had any interest. I've been honest about her need for a home that is looking for a high drive dog, hence the reason she is still with me. But I am really limited now physically so she needs to find someone who can take over her care or a forever home. Her adoption fee is $225 and it goes directly to westilover as she sponsored her. If I can find a foster carer for her I could possibly borrow a car to transport her unless mine passes inspection in the next few weeks.
Needless to say she is my last foster dog

Can anyone help this lovely girl. We have just taken a couple of mums out and don't have any spare carers.
Impound 3469 - Tabby, Ginger & white, wearing collar with bell attached, approx 1-2 years of age, friendly natured, possibly pregnant. Looks like she has been someone's pet given she was wearing a collar :-(
She is overdue and PTS is scheduled for tomorrow.

Hi everyone,
We rescued a beautiful white lab from Kurri pound early this year and we are so in love with him we have decided to extend our family to include another. I have had a quick look on Dog Rescue Newcastke and Hunter Animal Rescue websites but can't spot any there (lots of beautiful dogs but I have such a soft spot for the nature of labs & retrievers). Are there any private foster carers who are trying to re-home one? Sex isn't important, our beautiful boy is friendly and social to all dogs. Colour isn't important either. I would arrange a meet and greet first of course, before trial period commences.
Thanks in advance,
Kerrie.

I would like to give this poor girl a little more exposure as she has been in boarding kennels in Sydney since September now!

She is listed on PetRescue as
Coral although I have always called her Nana.
I know it's the worst time of the year to try to find a new home for her but I somehow feel personally responsible for her plight as I have tried and failed to adopt her myself. Unfortunately my resident boy dog took great offense to having to share his territory and also my attention with another dog.

He has always been a bit of a grump.
Sadly she is now back at the boarding kennels and very confused after she seemed to have bonded with me very quickly and deeply. But I am sure she would do that with everyone who would be willing to give her the love and attention she deserves!
She originally came from Blacktown Pound where she got rescued by
Sydney Animal Rescue. Unfortunately there is no foster carer available and she has been in boarding kennels since then. She seems to have been bred a lot and spent most of her life on lying on concrete floor judging by the calluses she has on her knees and feet.
Here is her original pound picture:

But now she is a lot happier and tries to give you lots of kisses!

And here is a little video clip of how carefree she could be!
Nana/Coral MovieLittle spiel about her:
Coral appears to not have had an easy life so far but that didn’t stop her from being the most beautiful and affectionate dog you could wish for. Her biggest aim in life is to love and please her human! She is desperate to find her true forever home where she can feel safe and protected. At the moment she is a little confused as to what is happening to her but she will settle quickly in a home where she feels that she is wanted and loved.
She is a little strong on the lead but a very quick learner and so eager to do anything to make you love her. She turns to jelly when she is around kids and would fit easily into any family with kids older than around 6 years.
She plays well with most other dogs but does not like to be dominated. She has learned in less than half a day to leave chickens alone. She has not been tested with cats as yet.
She loves to go for walks but does not need a lot of exercise. She is just as happy to have lots of nana naps during the day and is generally very gentle and placid.
Coral will bond with passion to her new owner and she will be the most delightful and devoted companion to have around.

Hi
We need a new home for a Blue Heeler/kelpie X desexed male approximately 12 months old. He has the most placid temperament and is very patient with children of all ages (tried and tested LOL)
Unfortunately his owners realise that they don't have the time and patience needed for him, so I am looking for a good home for him. I would love to keep him myself but I have 3 dogs of my own and it just isn't feasible.
You can contact me on 0412 246 778 or (07) 55433803.
He is located at Cedar Vale which is between Jimboomba and Beaudesert.
Cheers Tracey

Siberian Husky & Samoyed X Husky
Both Females, almost 5y.o. beautiful dogs need home (desexed)
We have 2 beautiful dogs for sale, from separate litters but have been together since birth and must be sold together. Both will be 5 years old in October. Prada: Siberian Husky, Colour: Sable, one blue and one brown eye. Gucci: Samoyed x Siberian Husky, Colour: White, brown eyes. Very smart dogs with loads of character (both very different!), they need a home that will give them lots of love and human attention, big yard and plenty of exercise as they are very high energy for walking but otherwise quite dosile. As we have had a new addition to the family, we are unable to invest the time into them which they deserve. $350.00 - sold together with Certificates of Identification (Microchip/Spey) and Vaccination records, harnesses and leads, dog bowls and bed frames. Only geniune dog lovers who will have time and dedication to give them what they need should apply.

Private message me and I can give you her contact details that way
Not sure if she should go through the Husky Club of Vic or something?

Only found out today this girl is possibly pregnant. She is very friendly and looks very rehomeable. I cannot take another pregnant girl on at the moment and just about had a carer for her until we found out she was pregnant. Can anyone help her?
If you are able to take her out please call Renbury asap - if you can foster please PM me asap (I get messages via hotmail on my phone and may not check this posting out so PM is better).
She was microchipped and has done her 2 weeks - as I said only found out today she was pregnant.
If anyone wants to rescue her and is happy to rehome the kittens I would be more than happy to take mum on after she has had the kittens and rehome her. Seems I tend to rehome adults more so than kittens these days!
She is top of the list of cats - impound 4440.

Cocker Spaniel rescueEarlier this year my husband and I rescued two beautiful Cocker Spaniels. We already had two of our own but felt that we couldn't leave these two to be euthanised. We have nursed them back to health and happiness and now we are looking for two homes for these beautiful dogs. We have a blue-roan boy aged about seven and an eight-year-old (roughly, according to the vet!) girl. Both are desexed, healthy and social with no vices.
Lincoln is a big handsome dog of obvious quality. He would be best suited to being an only dog as he is is very needy of human companionship. He loves nothing more than to be by your side every minute of the day, so would ideally suit a retired couple or someone who works from home. He is a gentle, soft-natured sook who loves going for walks (he doesn't need a lead, as he is perfectly happy to stay by your side). He has no health problems at all and is not a barker. We don't know what his previous life was like, but sometimes he has the odd nightmare where he wakes crying and distressed. A gentle word always soothes him and he goes back to sleep immediately. We feel he would be happiest as the only dog with a kind Cocker lover who understands the breed. He is a very special boy and we are looking for the right home for him, where he will be loved as part of the family and get plenty of attention. He was in a terrible state when we got him - matted coat, an eye-infection, and with kennel cough so he has been through a tough time.
Cleo is a tiny delicate little girl, much smaller than a normal Cocker. She was found wandering along the Bruce Highway and ended up in the local pound, where we rescued her from death row in the nick of time. She is an unusual colour, being a mixture of blue roan and tan. She has a lovely balanced and sociable nature and hops on anyone's lap for cuddles and tummy rubs. We feel that she has been a much-loved member of someone's family and are at a loss to explain how she ended up in the pound. Perhaps her owner died? We will never know and have made many enquiries to see if we could trace her owner, with no luck. She was in a bad condition when we took her, with a matted coat, a terrible eye infection and very malnourished, possibly because she would have let other more assertive dogs eat her food. We always stay with her so she gets her full share, however she is still tiny! She feels the cold, so has a coat and of course sleeps inside. She is incredibly sweet-natured and would be best suited to a quiet couple or family with older children, as she is built so delicately. She has no health problems and is not a barker. She doesn't have a heavy coat and is a minimum maintenance Cocker in terms of grooming. Because of what she has been through, we would be happier if she was the only dog in the family.
If the right person can offer either of these two special dogs a home we would be very grateful, though broken hearted to see them go. Photos are available if anyone is interested.

I have a good friend considering adoption of an older puppy or younger dog - or even a bit older. I would certainly vouch for her care of dogs and ability to provide a genuine home. She is in no hurry, please keep in mind if you hear of anything.

BlenheimBoy kindly started a
thread for me about Ruby. It's only 11 days ago when Ruby came back into my daughter's life and a training schedule put in place. Having found out that Ruby is about 18 months old and not 2.5 years as first thought makes this re-homing search all the more necessary.
16/8/10 update on Ruby: turns out she is only 18 months old, not the age as previously stated. Micro chipping has some benefits That explains why she has been so trainable. She now walks beautifully on the lead, comes when called and hangs around the house when her collar comes off - she learnt how to roll on the ground and unclip the collar - but a new one with a buckle was fitted! lol. So the walking, running training is going very well indeed. She is quiet when tied up and when it's feed time, goes to her bed to indicate she is relaxed and ready to eat. Other dog socialization training routines will start happening in about a week or two.
Today, 19/8/10: Ruby is such an intelligent animal and would make a fabulous working dog.
This evening I was giving her some dinner and waiting for her to sit rather than lie down - after thirty seconds she sat up but realised her back right foot was caught in her chain. Now other dogs I have owned or looked after have just pulled and pulled to get their foot out - chains we always use are the swivel type - but Ruby noticed, looked at her back right foot and deliberately moved her leg backwards so the links loosened and then gently withdrew her foot! She looked, noticed and acted while looking! Then she sat and waited till I had placed the bowl on the ground and said OK.
Now surely there is someone out there who wants to give her a good working/active home! Anyone know anyone who could have her??

Friends have a very well-behaved desexed 18 month old female beagle but as the wife has now started full-time work, they would like to get another dog so that Bailey has company during the day.
They want to take on a rescue dog ideally a pup but would prefer a larger breed dog as Bailey is a very active solid little girl who is still young enough that she sometimes *plays a bit rough* and they want to be able to take both dogs on long walks, jogs etc.

Hi everyone
Bonnie the staffy cross (was incorrectly decribed as a mastiff cross by pound staff) was rescued from Canterbury Pound in March and is still in foster care. She is approximately four years old and is a really lovely dog. I'm not sure why we haven't had much interest in her. She would love to be an inside/outside dog, loves walks and car trips and generally just being with her people. She would suit a home as an only dog (although she lives with another foster at the moment so could live with a younger dog) and with older or no children and is located in Yass NSW. All her vetwork is done. She is currently housed with a cat who is happy to give her a good swiping should she come close enough! She doesn't bark when you leave but will rejoice when you return

Bonnie is a wriggly happy girl who has been waiting for her forever home all year. She will sit and lie down on command.
PM me if interested.

Posted on behalf of a friend who lives near Orbost in Victoria:
"My daughter has a red heeler which she found a home for as she cannot keep her any more due to moving. Unfortunately the people who wanted her no longer want her! My daughter told them everything about the dog - desexed, ok with male dogs, very active, loving to people, escapes from back yards, doesn't run away, slips her collar, is not house trained but is very trainable, 2 and 1/2 years old. Anyway, these people are located in Canberra and so my daughter drove the dog to Canberra. Last night she was told they are moving house! So now she has to leave this morning (8/8/10) and go and pick her up.
Is there anyone here who is active and loves running every day with a beautiful girl called Ruby?"

Blue is a very special Greyhound, he is super well socialised and gets along wonderfully with othe dogs (even small fluffy ones!), horses, sheep and is CAT SAFE. We have three cats, including a recent rescue kitten and Blue lives inside at night and out in the yard during the day with them all and has all his life.
Blue loves people and is outgoing, friendly and boisterous at times as can be expected, given his youth. Blue is too boisterous for toddlers though, which is why we are really, rally regretfully rehoming him. Bigger kids are fine as they don't have faces at the same level as Blues that need licking etc!
We ride our hroses in the forest for hours and Blue comes along off lead happily, staying close to the horses all the time. Living on a farm, blue hass been exposed to lots of stuff like motorbikes, etc which he is great with. he walks well on lead and loves outings to 'town'.
Blue was desexed yesterday and is ready to go to his forever home as soon as they discover him. he is a gem and wee will miss him terribly, but he is spending too much time in a pen at the moment, to avoid the old toddler knockdowns and he is miserable, he wants to be in the yard with his family.
Perfectly toilet trained and accustomed to sleeping inside at night, Blue is equally happy to be outside at night. He would do better with a doggy companion as he has always had one.
Blue broke his backleg in an accident about 8 weeks ago. He had surgery and the vets are thrilled with his recovery, expecting no future problems. My vet is more than happy to talk to prospective families to answer any questions etc.
Please consider Blue if you're looking for a big, fun, loving boy! Call Colleen with any questions or for photos - 0408 201 107 or email davcolobee@bigpond.com
Thanks!

Im posting this on behalf of my friend, her sister has decided she no longer wants her dogs, the young pup has been rehomed but we are left with Charlie, as the title says he is an 8yo Goldie, Ive never met him but Ive been told he is a beautiful dog
Charlie is desexed, he has already had a second chance at life as he was dumped as a teenage pup and found by my friends father, he has gone on to live with friends sister who has now decided she doesnt want dogs, she was going to get Charlie put down but we have convinced her to keep him until a forever home can be found
Charlie does have recurrent ear infections but as far as Im aware nothing has been done to find the source of the infections, from what Ive been told he is over weight at about 40kg so he will need some slimming, he also needs some training but he is more than eager to please so that shouldnt be a worry
I dont have much more info on this boy and I dont yet have a photo but if anyone is interested or has questions please PM me or post here and Ill find out the answers or give you more info. He is located in Ballina NSW but transport to Brisbane is available

Hi

Hope its ok for me to post here..
My fiance and I are looking to adopt an adult desexed, vaccinated Shih Tzu or Shih Tzu cross. Sadly, we recently had to put our lovely boy to sleep due to major health issues, he was only 3.5 yrs, and we would love the company of another little dog.
I have checked out registered breeders locally and none have any for sale or even interstate that would suit us.
We are open to age and gender, all we ask is that the dog has no health issues as we don't want to deal with anymore heartbreak.
We are a quiet couple with no other dogs, but do have one cat, our requirements for the new addition are pretty basic but I'll list them anyway..
Friendly with other dogs
Doesn't chase cats
Is fairly quiet and not overly hyper
House-trained
We will consider adopting from another state if need be, if anyone could point me in the right direction of any suitable dogs that would be great, i have checked the shenton park dog refuge website, k9 dog rescue, rspca wa, petrescue and any dog pounds which have a website, no luck yet..

[attachment=219847:Ripley_a.jpg]A lovely mature boy, desexed and chipped, ready for a new permanent home.
Estimated at 7 years he came to a Bendigo shelter (which shall remain nameless

) with a big rip in his cheek. He has put up with it being bathed and pawed at for just over a week, till finally it was stitched.(Oh the red tape and ...t that goes on to get an animal seen to.) The worst he did through all of that was a grumble to say it hurt, and fair enough I think.
I have adopted him temporarily because he wasn't going to get a chance at the shelter, due to his face having stitches. Once healed he will be a beautiful boy once more.
He has socialized with other dogs and so far seems really good. He was so excited by my car, he was pacing at the door waiting to get in. I am asking $155.00 as his adoption fee, since that is what must go back to our stash, so we can save others in the future.
He is in good health, has been desexed a long time, and is now micro chipped. (to me, but easily changed) Will be testing him in a farm situation this weekend, but any calls would be great. Since I have 4 dogs of my own, + farm,+ work. 7/8/10 So far, he has met my dogs, a visitors dog, been to the local market, met other dogs and been patted by strangers (including children), he has been around my horses and has ambled past my chooks and ducks.....absolutely not a foot out of place. Has had a good look around, and at the moment is sitting in the back seat of my car so I can't go anywhere without him

Thought I would put this in here ..... I know a family looking for a mini female up to about 4 years..
It's a great home and the dog would be very spoilt.
If you know of one please let me know so I can pass on the details. They have two children 6 and 9 and a very spoilt cat so must get on with all. Oh they live in Sydney .....
They would love to rescue one but are starting to look at breeders as they have had no luck in the past 8 months.
Please keep them in mind
Thanks so much.

Hi all,
There is a Bullmastiff (or near enough!) who needs rescuing from the Keysborough Animal Shelter in Melbourne where he has been for 3 weeks. Since he was picked up as a stray, there are no details on his name, history etc. The shelter staff think he's pretty special and they are very keen to find him a new forever home. They call him Clarence (for obvious reasons!

)
Please see attached some photos of this boy who is a sweetie and pretty cute with his slightly crossed eyes. I can also tell you that he's about 18 months, is a little underweight, has been desexed and seems quite laid back with other dogs so far.
He has been assessed by an experienced Bullmastiff Club member today and they described him as a big, friendly enthusiastic doofus! He sat when told to sternly even though he was excited and staff at the shelter say he's walks nicely on lead so he has learned some manners at some stage. Probably not one for a home with small children though as he may knock them over with his bouncing.
Can you please pass this email onto anyone you know who might be interested. Feel free to contact Sue Thompson or the other staff at the Shelter (details below) and if there is any way that I can help, please don't hesitate to get in touch..
Australian Animal Protection Society, (Keysborough Animal Shelter)
10 Homeleigh Road, Keysborough 3173
Ph. 97988415

Jill Karena
Rescue Officer
Bullmastiff Club of Victoria
Email: jkarena@aanet.com.au
PS: There is also a 5 year old male brindle Bullmastiff X who has been surrendered who is also looking for a new home at the same shelter. He's described as a Bullmastiff x Neo but there are no Neo features in evidence so best guess is that he's a Bullmastiff x Big Bitsa Dog!
