Flash it seems has been left behind. He was trying to get a liftr to his mum but his mum has failed to contact me or the rangers. As of tomorrow they will have him so he is ready for release although he has been with me for the last week as they were way too full to house him.
Anyway Flash is a Brittany Spaniel, he is nine years old and overweight. He has started an exercise regime which already has loosened some tight muscles and joints. He likes to walk very fast and is trying to learn to take it a bit easy on himself. Flash is no trouble to have around the place at all. He gets along with the other dogs, not so fussed on cats, and is very affectionate towards people. Flash is already desexed and is nine years old. |

Don't let him die, I will fit him in with me as soon as possible if I can't find something else. I have an on-going love affair with Brittany's ever since I fostered Bob - please sing with me Bob The Brittany, He's a Spaniel, Bob the Brittany
I also am sure that between me, Helen and Adriana we can find something for this beautiful boy. Off to send some PMs. |

No trish I hope my message is clear, he is out and not going back. He has enjoyed his impoundment here at my place and I have already listed him!!! He is jsut looking for that sort of a home where he can have the care he needs in retirement! No way is he dying! If he is a true representative of the breed I can't understand why there are not a lot more in homes as pets. He is so family safe. Not a great listener but I think that came fown to his previous life!!!
I just thought I would post him up to see if he can find a home through word of mouth. Reliable word of mouth! eta I never thought of Adriana!!! This post has been edited by pikespooches: 12th Feb 2008 - 01:51 AM |

Oh cool - okay no worries.
I will talk to the lady here who adopted Bob the Brittany too and see if she has some suggestions. Bob wasn't a great listener either and I just put it down to the fact that he was a spaniel, his ears were painted on |

OK, have added a link. http://people.aapt.net.au/AAPT_5538894/index.htm
The person I emailed is not sure about getting a 9 year old as they have just lost a Brittany they rescued about 4 years ago and the kids were devistated so they will probably look for a pup instead, but I am sure something good will show up. |

ok that is fine. I don't mind and he is stil new here and needs to see the vet when I next go for his health check up.
I have a question though. The opinion ist hat he is the French Brittany. I have tried to do a search thinking I may find a possible breeder and may find hwere he came from. But I have had no luck! How do I find the breeders of the French style Brittany? And his colouring? Unless of course he was imported which is a possibility since when I spoke on the phone to his mum she has an accent. I thought she mentioned that he came from QLD though. Any tips on him pulling along on our walks??? Check chains I hate and he has one, he came with it but he doesn't respond to at all. I have used a harness to ease the pressure off his throat. I guess I could try a haltie!! If I stop walking he stops he seems to know when I am walking and thinks he needs to help me I think lol |

PP - I thought that my boy Spencer (who I think is a Brittany cross BC) also came from 'french lines' but I am pretty sure that there is no such thing. Helen will know for sure.
Here are some QLd Brittany breeders http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/breede...D&Submit=Go |

I adopted a Brittany x in 2006 from LDH (Melbourne), and aside from my Larry's having a full tail and less white in his tri-colour coat, he's very like Flash (albeit not 9 years old!). Larry was 4 months old when I adopted him. Somewhere in his adoption papers it is mentioned that he's come from QLD. Larry was diagnosed with severe bi-lateral hip displasia at 5 months of age. I've also done a search to see if there are any registered Brittany breeders in Australia who breed the tri-colour Brittany. No tri's, only liver & whites. I suspect that Larry is a pure Brittany, but has come from a BYB, and ended up in LDH because he was un-sellable due to his dodgy hips. I wonder whether there is a link here with the dumped Flash? Hi. There are American lines and French lines, they are the same breed but a different type. Also america does not allow black in it's standard.
The two breeders from Qld both have American lines and only have orange and white dogs to my knowledge, so liver and white or black and white is not a possibility (unless they have used a different colored stud). This post has been edited by helen: 13th Feb 2008 - 05:41 PM |

I saw a liver and white Brittany for the first time EVER yesterday at dog training - he was much finer and slimmer than Bob and probably quite like Spencer, Flash and Larry by the sounds of it.
