  1. Hi, we use Dr Jana's Vet Clinic in Wagga Rd, Lavington. Prices seem pretty reasonable and the staff seem very nice and helfpul whenever we have had to go there. We have only ever had to go there for minor things though. I hope it all works out ok
  2. Not a mobile vet, just a yard check for a possible adoption I'm fairly certain
  3. I believe they do recognise 'family' I have a 2 year old male GSP and my friend owns his 'sister' Millie, from the same litter. There can be heaps and heaps of other dogs around (like at Million Paws Walk) or even just a couple of others in the backyard and they will both completely focus on each other and nothing can distract them! They sometimes run around and play together, other times will just lie on the ground and lick each others faces and make whiney noises Their mannerisms are so similar it is scary! But they definately do recognise each other and still love each other to this day
  4. I'm not too sure how to insert sections from other posts, but I would most definately NOT recommend cork tiles. We bought a house with these 18 months ago- admittedly the house is around 20 years old but my dogs have completely destroyed the cork tiles in this house. When they get up a bit of speed, they slide a long way when they try to stop- they also dig in their nails to try (unsuccessfully) to stop . It is to the point now that there are small chunks out of the cork where they have ran through. We move into our house we are building in about 3 weeks. Tiles everywhere (except bedrooms). And not the really glossy ones. I'm no tile expert but I would imagine the glossy ones would show up heaps more hair than normal tiles.
  5. Oh my I have never heard of this illness before and therefore had nothing to contribute to the thread thus far. I was SOOO confident that Jordy was going to pull through! I am so so sorry Bokezu. Hugs to you and your family
  6. I have not tried it with my dogs- I am silly enough to get up a thousand times a day when they feel like going outside!! My vet tells me that she has trained her beagle to ring a bell when he wants to go out- not an electronic doorbell but one of the old fashioned bells- it is apparently hanging by a rope/string next to her back door. Thinks its the greatest thing ever- it did however take her dog 3 months to get the hang of it Good luck with it!
  7. Hi, I am not in Canberra (about 3 hours drive) but we had our male beagle desexed in November last year. Total cost was $199- which included an extra $44 fee which was optional- an IV drip during the op to keep him better hydrated or something- apparently speeds up recovery time...well he was drowsy for about 3 hours when we got him home then completely back to his usual self! I know at our vet, the anaesthetic prices depended on the weight of the dog- < 15kg, and >15kgs. Joker weighed 14.7 so saved us a few dollars I am by no means an expert but $350 seems a little hefty? Maybe you could ring a few places for quotes. Good luck
  8. We feed our 4 month old GSP puppy with Advance. He is doing really really well on it, and seems to love the taste as well. Our breeder recommended the Advance, so we stuck with it (its easy to buy at our local pet stores also). We had a freebie bag of Hills Science stuff, but he did not seem as interested in it. Our vet has commented how well he is doing on the Advance, in regards to his growth, and his coat etc. By the sounds of it, a lot of DOL people feed their dogs Orijen...I would be willing to try this but as yet have not seen any in local shops so will be sticking with the Advance...
  9. Interesting! Well we have a 11 week old German Shorthaired Pointer puppy, who we have been feeding Advance Puppy biscuits, as well as some fresh mince once a day which had been recommended. We just got home from the vets and she said to cut out the mince immediatly as it can cause osteoporosis. According to her, a little spoonful every now and again is more that sufficient. And that we should be feeding the Advance Puppy, as well as some cooked rice, pasta and vegies rather than the mince. Can anyone recommend specific websites that will give me some more information on the raw diet? I did google BARF but seemed to get directed to websites selling raw products rather than the principles and ratios behind it all! Thanks in advance :D
  10. Oh, some more information... Likes- being bossy, hanging off our beagles ears, fluffy toys, and loves socks! Dislikes- being alone, our other dog getting any attention!
  11. Here is our new baby...a solid liver GSP boy named Duke...we picked him up on Friday!
