Online Puppy Class's

there have been soooooo many comments on this forum about puppy schools being a free for all with little to no training.

This sounds like a fantastic alternative for people that can't afford, or are too far away from more professional training schools

I wish I had a puppy too :D

Looking this over, I think it is a great supplement for people.

I add the proviso they need to be aware of what to do, of course.

I would highly recommend this course. I have never had anything to do with Katrina, but Kelly is, without a doubt, one of the best dog trainers I know.

If the course shows people to raise puppies even half as confident and consistently well trained as Kelly's puppies are then you can't go wrong.

I will second this comment.

I will third it. A wonderful idea from an outstanding trainer who knows how to raise puppies right. Katrina's high profile and enthusiasm for spreading the word about dog care and training plus Kelly's vast experience make them a great team to help those without access to a good puppy school, get off on the right foot with training puppies. I wish them every success with this new venture.

 I personally couldn't think of a nicer person, than Kelly, to help me train my puppy (if I had one) :)

I wish I had a puppy, I'd be signed up in a heart beat  For folks like me that don't live near any good training clubs. This would be a godsend. You couldn't go wrong under Kelly's supervision. She is a wealth of all things dog. She is such a nice human being as well.... Kelly is also superwoman I think

she never stops.

Goodness $115 is nothing these days, quit the negativity. If you're not interested don't do it. It's not like it's some C grade trainer offering a course.

There are plenty of awesome online courses out there i.e. Susan Garrett, Fenzi etc, have completed courses from both.

It's not a replacement of puppy school...it says this...

Does this replace going to puppy class?

The more you activities you do with your puppy, the better. Our course is a great next step for after Puppy Classes. If you can’t attend a local puppy class, we will give you all the information you need to get your puppy off to a great start.

I was lucky enough to win a spot on the 1st Puppy Club with Laci. At 1st I thought it very basic puppy care & training (as I've been involved in an obedience club for 20 years & taken 3 puppies to various puppy pre-schools) but as the weeks went on I could see the value for new puppy owners that maybe hadn't been involved in dog training before. You get a list of socialisation things to do each week, 2 live chat sessions a week where you can ask Kelly & Katrina questions/advice on any problems you are having as well as lots of information on everything you need to know about raising a puppy.

For anyone lucky enough to attend the Border Collie Fun Day on Sunday, they were offering the next Puppy Club for 1/2 price at $59.00. Can't get much better than that.

Each week they had a photo competition & I was lucky to win a prize in the 4th week. :happydance:

I can think of several folks who would have benefited from this had it been available when they had a pup :)

How many times does a poster ask 'what can I do with fido until all the vacc's kick in" ? training is boring ... I must be doing things wrong.... I can't find a training class /have a disability ...

perhaps a course such as this would help them and their pup :)

Defiantly agree.

I was about to ask, did any body do the first one & what the feedback was. Wow, congrats on winning the photo competition. Do you think I would benefit from doing one of the sessions, even though I don't have a puppy ????? As an instructor, I often get asked questions about puppies & their training, but never really know where to start. I have a mile of DVD's on puppy training, but they are mainly to do with future performance dogs.

Go to Katrina's youtube page & judge for yourself. These had very basic info as I said in the beginning.

Some of these videos were used in the course, the puppy ones of course.

Subject info covered things like:

How to play with your puppy/handling puppy

Toy Safety

Managing adolescence

Chasing cars or bikes

Teach puppy to drop something from it’s mouth

& all the basics usually discussed on dog training forums like sit, down & come.

Kelly was at our agility trial this last weekend, & it is always a pleasure to watch her run her dogs, & there is just so much to learn from her. Of course she took out most of the major prizes  I wish I had just half her quick brain, then I wouldn't do stupid things like pulling my dog off the closing sequence in the Open, because I had forgotten the course :cry::cry:

Susan Garrett's online courses have been way more helpful than my face to face dog club.

Yes you have to find the balance between spending time on the computer and actually putting the stuff in to practice - ie getting out there with your dog.

But I'd be still dragging my dog to the local park by a chain around her neck if it wasn't for internet classes.

I sure as hell wouldn't have a jumping dog title with her.

The best thing with on-line courses is that you can push the rewind button. You can practice with your dog step by step & if something doesn't seem right, then you can go back & check if you are doing it correctly & even contact the instructor via email etc.

Quote from Kelly for all those with rescue dogs :)

"

Our next Puppy Training Course starts next week and we are reaching out to people who have rescue puppies or older rescue dogs that could use some training or help. We know that people sometimes don't get ongoing support when they adopt a dog.

We are offering anyone with a rescue puppy or dog the opportunity to do our next course for free.

For more information about the course check out Pet Lovers Puppy Club

If you are interested, or know someone with a rescue pup/ dog who may benefit please email [email protected] and we will tell you how to register."
