But also a little nervous since I haven't had my own puppy in 11 years. i need to make a list of things I need to get before he comes home because I want to be organised so what should be on my list? The list can be endless but things which spring to mind are crate (size based on adult requirements), puppy play pen for unsupervised time inside), chew toys, soft tug type toys, boredom busters, treats for training if you're not going to use daily feed rations, Smaller soft crate for car travel and night time sleeping beside your bed (nightly toilet trips are much easier), Lead /collar/bowls Same food as pup currently on (so you can introduce change slowly) Various items to introduce puppy to different sounds, heights and textures if you want, A list of socialisation/neutralisation things to cover, hmmm I feel like there's a soo much more but can't think for the moment... If your pup is going to be a show pup then talk to the breeder about show training your pup & leads,you don't need a harness because its a Bulldog . Make sure what ever puppy school you go to it is happy for you to teach stand over sit until your puppy can understand both a mistake many new show people make is teaching sit from day 1 & not stand especially for food. I would suggest show training classes as soon as pup is old enough . If your breeder is a good one who shows there knowledge on what is important to get will be valuable there knowledge in general of the breed will be good, Send them the list & see what they suggest . My puppy keeps going swimming and making all the bedding wet first thing in the morning of each show :laugh: I tend to use cheap blankets for the first few weeks of puppyhood till I work out if puppy enjoys destuffing beds. I also use them to cover my nicer beds so they survive. Mattress protectors from vinnes are also pretty awesome. If it were mine i would. the bulldogs i now barely have any necks, so the harnesses are good. And being a brachy breed i would always opt for the harness. But obviously thats just for general walking, not the show ring The breeder also may just use collars and its up to you. Also all my puppies ahve accepted walking in a harness easier than on a collar. They learn that also, but we start with a harness.
