oh what a cutie :)

Quick question - I think Booker's microchip has moved - I can feel and can also see a bit of a lump (like a bit of rice) on one of his shoulder blades. I use to be able to feel it in the middle just the slightest but now it's totally to one side and I worry that if he was to escape and then get scanned it might not be found?

What should I do? And can it annoy them? It seems like an awkward spot at the moment, not that it seems to be bothering him....

I had one who's microchip ended up in his foot - never bothered him. Was different then, the microchip he had was a UK one & wasn't readable by the readers in NZ anyway - reader could 'see' the chip which is how we knew where it was, just couldn't read the number. So the actual moving bit isn't an issue to the dog's health AFAIK

As for ID - if it's still over the neck/shoulder area they do scan a fairly wide area for chips so it should be OK. If it's easily felt you could talk to your vet about how difficult it would be to remove it and replace it, but you'd have to change the chip number with the CCCQ so get a good paper trail if you do that :)

I'll keep an eye on it and see if it moves anymore... I actually had a look/feel as he hair was standing up a bit and thought maybe a mozzie bite there but then felt the chip.

He hasn't ever attempted to get out and he has a collar with tag and phone numbers on but I can't help but worry just in case...

My little Rosie's chip is down her leg. The vet was scanning her for ages all over before we found it. I too wondered what would happen if she got out and was scanned whether they would try for so long?

Book is due for his annual check up next month - I'm not going to say anything beforehand and see if they find it when scanning without me showing where it is.

Its official Ronnie needs something to pull. Was out walking the dogs and diesel got a bur in his pad so I handed Ronnie's lead over to Mr 9 who was on his scooter whilst I dealt with diesel, next thing you know here is Ron butt running full tilt down the road with Mr 9 on the other end of the lead laughing his head off I Shat myself thinking he wouldn't stop her, he was having to much fun so I yelled at him to turn and called Ronnie back she came of course happy as Larry and quite proud of herself

So it's official - we move to the farm in NZ in 8 weeks! I want to get a coat for Pebbles that is weatherproof and warm for her tummy. It gets very cold in Southland!

Any suggestions that are good for Staffords?

Wrong time of year to be moving to Southland

As for a coat - our dogs had PJ's which covered their tummies and came a long way down over their tails for night time and a water-resistant fleece lined coat for walking/day time - always found this worked better than trying to get one to do both jobs. Weatherbeata, the horse cover people, make really tough weather resistant coats, most good pet supply places will have a selection though. For PJ's there's lots of people who make them to measure - search on here for some before you go :D
