  1. Please don't fast your Pug. It's unnecessary and bordering on cruel. They are far too obsessed with food and hunger for that :) Simply exercise him more and feed less and add some bulk as other people have suggested, if you wish.
  2. Hi all, If anybody is interested, I've listed 2 UD scent article sets for sale in the marketplace in the off topic section.
  3. Hi trainers, Just a heads up that I have a practijump set for sale in the marketplace area in off topic. This is the set: http://www.jjdog.com/product/5-Foot-Practijumps-Lightweight-Jumps-Set/Obedience-Jumps
  4. Feel free to pm me if you would like advice on breeders to both consider and avoid :)
  5. I've owned Boxers for coming up to 20 years and don't agree at all that they would not cope with your exercise demands PROVIDING the dog comes from a registered breeder producing structurally sound dogs from heart tested lines. Your average fit and healthy Boxer, really. Yes, they are braccy, but no where near to the extent of a French Bulldog or Pug, for example. Obviously you wouldn't be fair to expect him/her to run 15km in 30c heat, but for an active and fit Boxer your projected exercise regime in dog friendly temperates would be fine. My current Boxer would LOVE to live with you lol Ps: He got his ET at the above mentioned endurance trial last year.
  6. We did the ET offered by the Vizsla Club last weekend & enjoyed a very well run event. I would recommend the ET to everyone. We took advantage of training partners beforehand (thanks Starkhehre & Prodigybxr), & will continue to ride with others on occasion, for fun as well as helping others to prepare. It was such a well run trial. Highly recommend! Fabulous judge, too.
  7. Thanks Starkehre, your offer is greatly appreciated! Have not been to Springers yet, most of our training has been around Yarra Flats, but planned to investigate Springers tomorrow afternoon. Would that, or another afternoon be a suitable time to meet you there? I'd also be keen for a training ride, we have entered the Vizsla ET on the 31st. Would be great to have a ride with some other dogs at Springers before then :)
  8. Wounds are meant to keep dry? Never bathed?
  9. Would you mind sharing (a link?) as to what bike the shop recommended as suitable for an ET? :) Sure, http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-au/bikes/model/rove.3/14944/66432/ this is my bike, the guy asked what I was planning on doing and recommended it based on that. I just said I was doing on and off road, like on grass (not mountain biking!). I am really happy with the choice, the guys at the bike store actually let me take it home before paying it off :) (well they know where I work and we've worked next door for 3 years so he knows me I suppose!) it's been raining though, so haven't had a proper ride yet! Thank you :)

  11. Have trained a food obsessed Pug to some success, found using low value treats and precise delivery to keep her below her manic food threshold easiest and best :)
  12. Looking forward to doing my Boxer boy at the HVCV trial now that he's of age. Did my Pug at the same trial in '08. Will dust off the same bike in the new year! Exciting :)
  13. You'd have to think so. What amazing achievements :)
  14. Sorry, however, this is a bit of a generalisation. Mine's nothing super-human in the Pug department, but can do all of the above plus Obedience, Rally and gain an 20km Endurance Title.. It's just that they're generally not owned by dog sport folk :)
  15. Well done, Violet and Linda for yet another HIT. AND, at 10 years of age- what an amazing achievement!! Jodie
