  1. Hi Belinda, I agree with LG about the behaviourist and feeding separately. No dishes left down and no sniffing or licking each other’s dishes. We also have a bit of a quiet time rule for 20 to 30 minutes after food. I would also have a health check- particularly eyes. If she is tacked or has entropion then if her sight is bothering her it could cause aggression. I would also crate train - it is invaluable if you may have ongoing issues.Personally I have found NILIF training very helpful with my more dominant female. She is getting on now ( will be 12 this year) and is less full on than she used to be. They are definitely different to train than working breeds, they are not always terribly biddable and need a fair bit of patience and persistence. I would get a health check, check in with the breeder to see if any of her litter mates families are having any similar behaviours. Hopefully it is just a bit of teenage boundary testing and you will be able to nip it in the bud quickly. I am also happy to chat if you have any specific questions. Would love to see a photo of your girl
  2. Thanks LG, I was quite sad yesterday, but not about Jonah, he has the best life with you and D. Duane will be grinning from ear to ear at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for him and Jesse,( but not for a good long while hopefully) . I messaged Brody and Vic and heard back from them x
  3. Hard to believe it is a year ago today since we lost you Duaneberry . Such a crazy year. We miss you big guy, your Jonah and Jesse are safe, happy and loved. You would definitely approve. Raising a glass to you today and remembering the good times. Issy and Alf send noseboofs, and Issy sends a love chomp or two to boot. Ha.
  4. If he came from a really bad situation he might be better off in the kennels if he is getting some attention, training and good food. 2 years does seem like a long time, but if they are working on his behaviour maybe he needed a few months and then he has been slow to be adopted. Genuine question, how long do those saying he should be pts think AWL should keep /work with a dog before making the call. If they see continuous improvement and the dog isn’t stressed or deteriorating at what point do people think they should euthanise him? A shelter near me has dogs that have been there for longer.I used to volunteer there, the dogs got daily walks and lots of human interaction, they would try to find foster families for any dog that appeared to not be coping well with the shelter environment- and they worked tirelessly to find the right homes. I am not trying to start a ruckus, just interested in other opinions. I hope Rocky finds a good home very soon.
  5. Very sorry for your loss, I loved hearing about the Evil Beagle when I first joined. Vale Daisy.
  6. Our girl was on strict crate rest post surgery, she was allowed to swim after a few weeks so we took her to hydrotherapy. This helped manage her energy without her getting hurt.
  7. We have an Ensopet system. It’s been going for a good while and so far no smell, the only hard part was digging the hole.We have two medium sized dogs but they do tend to poo on walks so am guessing it is being fed about 1 to 2 poos every couple of days. I like the fact it is all in one box and so simple to set up and use. Dog Compost kit
  8. I think my dogs are broken. Last year when I had flu and could barely move my girl nicked my lunch that hubby had left, then my tissues, then as a final insult dribbled into my lemsip rendering it undrinkable. Both my Goons couldn’t care less if you are sick and will dement you off your deathbed so they can have a walk. Friends tell me how intuitive and caring their dogs are , mine just mercilessly noseboof the crap out of me for a snack, play, yard time, whatever. Sigh, Lassie they are not.
  9. So sorry to read this, your love for him always shone through in your posts. Hope you are going as well as you can be. RIP gorgeous boy.
  10. Sending good vibes to all. Sorry for your loss of the little one.
  11. That's Mbili, Askari's new sister who sometimes not on purpose chomps on her cousin Issy. It was great that they had a really good day out with no grumbles.
  12. Alf really doesn't look too sure!
