  1. Rescue with view to adoption. Need somewhere for dog to stay while owner is in respite. The view is for her to then go into permanent care. While there are homes that take pets, the person is no longer able to care for the dog and the nurses aren't able to take responsibility of caring for the dog.
  2. Could anyone advise of the contact details for senior dog rescue in Victoria.
  3. I have a young friend who is looking to purchase a Lagotto puppy. Would appreciate any information on reputable breeders and also what testing is recommended for this breed. PM are ok. Also are there any good Facebook groups relating to this breed? Thanks in advance.
  4. Looking for recommendations of a good mobile groomer. My elderly aunt who lives in Northcote needs to have her terrier cross groomed. Thanks
  5. Does anyone have numbers for this show or know if numbers have been posted on Facebook. I am not entered but maybe going for a look. Thanks
  6. I think it is a wonderful product - wouldn't be without it for my toy poodles. Thornit is the english product and Wonder Ear the american version. Google can provide further information.
  7. I am aware of a case and it all turned out ok.. State body re-issued registration papers in new owners name but I believe that it took a little time and they had to provide verification and documentation. As others have stated you need to make contact with the state body that the dog was originally registered with and start the process. .
  8. If they are blue in colour and the heading is Certificate of Registration and Pedigree then they are main registration papers. Limited papers in Victoria are orange and have the heading Certificate of Registration and Pedigree - Limited Register. As the ANKC controls registrations I am presuming that pedigree certificates would be uniform in all states.
  9. Very happy to say that there are no fires in Seymour - there are fires about 30 minutes away to the south.
  10. I know a person interested in purchasing a pup who has plans on using day care. While I personally am not comfortable with the idea of a toy breed pup going into day care at 12 weeks of age, I am trying to at least steer her into doing some homework on them and not just relying on what is stated on the website or the view given on a guided tour. Could anyone advise of the ones to steer clear of especially in the bayside or eastern suburbs of Melbourne via pm. I have googled the one she seem keen on using and the 1 review is not complimentary of the place but I don't think one negative posting is going to sway the argument so hoping some personal feedback or general information might help. Would anyone have any recommendations on private pet sitters or pet sitting companies that do daily pop in visits and/or care for pets when owners have to travel on business. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
  11. While I don't know where you are located in Qld - I recently received the monthly flyer for Best Friends Pets here in Vic regarding their current specials. They have Royal Canin at 20% off and I have usually found their prices to be competitive. It may be worth checking them out as they have a few stores in Qld too. 30th September until 27th October, 2013. SAVE 20% OFF THE ENTIRE ROYAL CANIN RANGE.
  12. I just read a news report and I just can't understand that people don't realise that kids and dogs aren't always a compatible combination. The bit that jumped out in the report was that the dog was being minded by the family. I am not interested in the issue of the actual breed of dog involved, just the lack of awareness of guardians of children especially since there have been a couple of incidents recently that were major headlines and due to media coverage I would presume most people would have become aware of it. I had a family member that had a small fluffy that really wasn't child friendly and it was a nightmare when we visited. I wish that the dog could have been put in another room or yard as my very determined young toddler couldn't be told and would try to engage with the dog. It was a very stressful time trying to keep an eye on toddler or restraining during the entire visit and while a nip on the hand may have taught a lesson that I couldn't get through verbally, I wasn't going to allow a young child to be bitten to prove a point especially as I felt the face might have been the target. Basically I guess what I am saying is that if we choose to have children and dogs together then we need to be aware and take every precaution to ensure the safety of both. Dogs mauls child in Sydney's southwest Updated: 13:02, Saturday October 5, 2013 Dogs mauls child in Sydney's southwest A dog has mauled a young boy in southwest Sydney and left him with extensive facial injuries. At about 10pm on Friday a bullmastiff attacked the four year old boy at a Lavington Avenue home in Chipping Norton. Police believe the attack unfolded when the boy walked into the living room and the dog followed. The dog bit him on the head before the boy's grandfather intervened. The family was minding the bullmastiff, police say. The child was transported to Westmead Children's Hospital with extensive lacerations to the side of his head. The bullmastiff has been taken to the pound as investigations continue. The victim's grandfather has told the Seven Network of finding the boy and his injuries. 'His scalp had been torn back,' he said. 'I thought he was going to die to tell you the truth because it looked that bad.'
