  1. Another thumbs up for Snooza. I have 4 of their beds. Two large oblong, 1 large round and 1 large cuddler all in safari velboa. I have 2 black and a yellow lab and these beds do not show the dirt or the mountains of dog hair that is inevitable with labradors. Easy to wash and replacement bits and pieces available. Not the cheapest beds on the market but the quality speaks for itself.
  2. Love it!,, I've learnt something too:)
  3. Dockdogs National Championships are being held in Canberra 21st-23rd February if anyone is interested
  4. I had to go and have a second look. Couldn't see the first time for the tears rolling down my face. Such beautiful photos and a lovely keepsake.
  5. Hi BC, my boy had his first seizure at 4. He is now just over 5. I wasn't home at the time but my son was. He was in his room playing computer games when he thought the dogs were chasing each other (I have 3) and had bumped into his bedside table. He got up to check and found my boy in the corner of my room having a seizure. Frothing at the mouth, shaking, eyes rolling, he lost his bladder. When he had finished, he was quite disorientated. He tried to climb the walls which has resulted in claw marks up my wall, jumped on my bed and lost his bowels. The whole thing lasted less than 2 minutes. He has had several more but is now on medication. The things that I have observed is: he knows that something is not right as each time he comes looking for someone as if to let us know that something is wrong. We just try to make sure he can't hurt himself when he is having one and don't get too close to his face. I move the other dogs away as one in particular seems to get quite agitated as though they can see a weak link in the pack. When he is coming out of the seizure, he seems to have problems with his vision so we just talk calmly to him and try to reassure him. Barking is common when he is coming around. It takes a day or two for him to get back to his normal self. I try not to over exert him now when it is hot and I do worry when I am not home as I cannot be sure how the other two will react if he has another one. He is on a very low dose and has not had another seizure but curiously, he has also been diagnosed with an under-active thyroid and seizure can be a symptom although not common. I do know how you feel, it is horrible to watch but they can lead normal lives. It is all about management.
  6. The way I see it, all a comment from someone attempting to defend this so called boarding kennel has done is bring this topic to the top of the page again so people can steer clear of this place. Keeps their name fresh in peoples minds and reminds everyone not to go there. Ziggsters efforts have backfired imo.
  7. Not to mention that OP has already had another puppy die from parvo only a few months ago. Surely he would have been given all the information regarding bringing another puppy into the home or would have read up on the disease!
  8. Hope the puppy is better soon. Are there any restrictions regarding taking a puppy who has had parvo out of the country as weren't you moving to America in 6 months so that you could own a dogo argentino?
  9. My elderly neighbour's 10 year old foxy passed away late one afternoon. She contacted Pets at Peace but they were't able to collect the dog until the next day so she contacted our local vet to see if they could pick him up. The receptionist then processed to tell her that no they couldn't take him and to just wrap him in 2 plastic bags so that nothing leaked out and then put him in the freezer. I cant tell you how upset she was at this lack of sensivity and from her own vet
  10. Hope this works as I haven't uploaded photos before.
  11. I have a Snooza Shapes bed in large in both the round and rectangle. My dogs love them. Even though they are not cheap, the quality is great, the covers wash well and they don't show the dog hair
  12. Cheryl, I don't often post but always read the threads in the rescue section. I think you are doing a wonderful selfless thing for Gnarla and her puppies. I have made a donation into your account to help with your vet bills. It isn't much but hope it helps. Actually, everyone who has commented in this thread has to be commended for all their suggestions and offers of help. You are all wonderful people:)
  13. But wait, there's more. Call today and we will throw in a set of steak knives absolutely free! This is my first post on DOL. I have been reading the forums for some time now and have been appalled like many others on the way some rescues are run. This type of advertising just adds to the merry go round of dogs that will be pushed from pillar to post once the novelty wears off. Talk about a sales pitch...
