  1. Thank you very much. I have been looking at lots of the breeders I must say I really like these dogs Narof. The neuter Gel is just beautiful. Love the way the black comes down round her neck. Temperament and health is the most important thing tho. I need a dog that will be good with children. I see older dogs being re homed and most say they are looking for a home with no small children. Are some lines not real good with kids or is it just that they are not used to them and the breeders don't want to risk anything happening? Do you know what co owned means? And is it a requirement for all the reg breeders to do the screening tests or is it optional? And if a dog doesn't test good is it against the rules for it to be bred with? Or do I need to be asking for test results to make sure? I'm a little biased but I'm quite partial to Nahrof myself I'm part of the Nahrof team. Gel is a gorgeous girl and we have some young members of our team that are very promising too. Co-own means the breeder stays in partnership with you owning the dog. Both the breeder and new owner's names appear on the pedigree as owners and any matings etc can only be registered if BOTH owners sign paperwork. We successfully co-own several dogs with people. These partnership generally are good, but I would want to know my breeder well before undertaking a co-ownership. In Border Collies health testing is technically optional, however, any reputable breeder would absolutely be testing and I wouldn't touch any that didn't with a 10 foot pole! In our breed I would want the parents to be tested for CL, TNS, CEA (or be clear by parentage) Hip and Elbow scored and have gonioscopy done as well. I would want to see proof of testing I would absolutely ask if the parents are health tested. The majority of puppies we breed go on to be pets, so temperament should be of the utmost importance! I hope my answers have helped. If you have any more, don't hesitate to ask ???? yes thankyou very much.

  3. Thanks guys, Will look through the breeders listing.
  4. Can any one recommend a border collie breeder? And also what is the price range of puppies? I don't want to breed just do sport and may be interested in showing in the neuter class. I have owned one border before she was nearly 16 when I had to put her to sleep. Looking for a black and white puppy and I need a dog with a very good stable temperament.
  5. I have finally found a puppy for my family. He is the cutest little thing. He is a five week old German spitz, so have a few more weeks to wait. Will post pics when I get him. We are calling him Toby. Will be showing and trailing the new little guy. Never owed German spitz before, so hope all goes well. Was going to get a new GSD but have decided to wait on that one, it's just to hard after losing solo.
  6. I used to groom at a vet clinic and I know of pets that have been left to be put to sleep and have been re homed instead.
  7. Thank you every one for the ideas, Just want a nice stable dog, for sport and maybe to work with the other half and who will also be a safe pet for the kids. I will have a look at all the breeders suggested and see if I can find what iam looking for.
  8. Hi, Are there any good working line German shepherd breeders that breed long coated sables? Thinking of getting another after losing Solo.
  9. Last week I lost my very sweet German shepherd to cancer. He was only going to be nine this October. Can't believe I've lost both my dogs this year. First Cara my border collie of 15 years, half my life she'd been with me. And now Solo as well, it's just not fair. Sorry I can't get pics of them up.
  10. Wow thanks for all the info every one. I am worried about the kids hurting a small dog but also worried about a larger dog doing the same thing to the kids. My GSD knocks the kids flying at times. But I love him still. I need a dog that I can take out to the park or to the beach with the kids. And one i can do sport with. I would love for the kids to be able to hold the dogs leash and help with training there dog. This is something they can not do with our GSD. They loved Cara our border collie and she was great with them. I will have a look at some of the breeds mentioned.
  11. Thanks everyone. My kids are only five, four, three and nine months. They must see a husky or something on one of there movies or on the tv. I will be waiting till my baby is walking before we get our puppy. I know they are all real young but they are all very good with dogs. We do want to move to a country area some time in the near future. So will have our own space for endless running around. Will be going to dog shows to see some dogs with the kids. I just need to pick one. To many to choose from.
  12. Well I still can't make up my mind on the type of puppy I want. I did want a small dog but I am thinking of getting another border collie as I have been missing my old girl so much. Can any one tell me if the show line border collies are a bit quiter then the working line bc? The other breed I have always liked is the Australian shepherd. But I don't know a lot about this breed. Are they good with kids? Are they anything like a border collie in temperament? Are they as smart and active as a border collie? Sorry for all the questions but the best way to learn is to ask. My kids are no help they want a mushing dog. Don't know where that's coming from.
  13. This is a little off topic but has the staffy had the bull terrier part of its reg breed name dropped?
  14. My poor nana had a hard time getting her last dog. I told her to go to a reg breeder or rescue and not get a puppy from a pet store. Nana rang heaps of breeders looking for a puppy, only to be told she could not have one of there puppies because of where she lives. Nana's house backs on to Westlakes but her yard is fenced. Poor nana got so upset, she gave up and got her puppy from a back yard breeder. Her dog is now 12 and has never fallen in the lake and is spoiled rotten.
  15. Oh the poor dog. Now I know why I don't take my dog to the beach.
