  1. Yeah, that's my girl who is on a diet now. She is overweight and needs to lose at least 2 more kgs
  2. Here's a photo of him, I trying to upload some more onto my photobucket
  3. Hi all, I have a feel on his body. He does not have a nice covering over his ribs. All I could fee is his ribs sticking out OH weigh both dogs today, and my girl lost 1.2kg and my boy gain 0.8kg So now she is 20kg and he is 15.8kg. She is not too far from her ideal weight and he is slowly gaining it. I am adjusting their portions according to their daily activities. I did a pact with OH that if there is no result from starting on the BARF diet, he is allowed to feed them whatever he wants and now my perserverance pays off!
  4. I used to feed my girl My Dog but she put on so much weight that we stopped and now she is just on the BARF diet. I notice the poos that the tinned food produce is really huge and putrid
  5. He gets his usual barf diet and brisket bone every day. I will up his portions to even 4% as I only use 2% instead of 3%. He is an extremely active dog, always running around the yard. I will go to the butcher the next time when I am there and get him some lamb flaps Thank you all for the advice I will reweigh him a month later and let you know how I go
  6. It has been more than a month since I started both my dogs on the barf diet, one needed to lose the weight and the other needs to gain. Today when I weigh them after weighing them last a month ago. My girl who needs to lose weight has lost a kg but my boy has also lost a 600gms! ;) I have been feeding him 500gms of the barf diet based on his ideal weight which is 20kgs and he is not gaining weight at all. Instead he has dropped the weight. He was desexed a month ago and should gain some weight which is not happening at all I am at loss now, is there anyway I can help to boost the weight gain? I want to feed him raw and didn't want to add in any stuff such as biccies to his diet...
  7. Medibank offers pet insurance and if you are a medibank member, you get 10% discount. I also notice that the comprehensive (accident + illness) plan covers up till $12,000 and it is 100% as compared to other insurance. I got a quote of $33.48 per month if I take up the $100 excess or you can opt to have the $200 or $500 excess. I am seriously considering taking it up for both my dogs... Sorry forgot to add in there is a further 5% discount for additional pets edited to add in the last sentence
  8. Oh this is bad, she looks like the last one with her long hair in the chart but DH thinks it's her thick hair that makes her looks huge I gave her her dinner today and I notice that she is not as hungry as she looked last night. Maybe the carrot is filling her up now. My workmate who also have an overweight border collie, said that once a border collie puts on weight, it is very hard to lose the weight. Now I am worried. I am thinking of increasing the time I am going to exercise her to aid in her weight loss
  9. Oh I think it's really cute when he did that at first Then after a while it's just bad. He tried that on me again today when I trained him on the lead but I am really firm with him and he have no choice but to do what I want him to do. He is learning that by playing dead he is not getting away with anything
  10. Sorry, everyone, I am being a pain on this topic again and bugging you guys here. I am still learning after several years of DH feeding tinned food to my girl. On friday, I have a feel on my girl's body and I could feel her ribs but she got a gut which I can feel and think that she has to lose the weight there. I have cut down the portion for my girl to 360g since then and instead of giving the whole 360g of the roll to her and I actually added more carrots about 40g to it. Which means she is only getting 320g of the roll itself. Am I doing the wrong thing? I read somewhere in the net (where you prepare your own barf) that to help fill the dog up, give her more veggies. Tonight when I fed her, she look as if I didn't give her enough as she was still licking around her bowl which is empty. It's so sparkling clean that I jokingly told DH that I could just put it back in the cupboard I really feel terrible as if I am starving her and I definitely do not want to do that. I just want her to lose the extra weight. DH thinks she is okie and just muscular but I feel he just have rose coloured glasses on  Thanks again
  11. Thank you all for the suggestions! Today is the first day I started training both my dogs on walking on the leads in the backyard. Valentino has never have any training before and the reason I was told why he freezes when he sees the car is that when he was with the breeder, he will only go into the car when he is off to the vet or somewhere not so pleasant. I was firm with him at the training and he is responding really fast and well to me. Now I am looking forward to training him into going in the car
  12. Hi, as everyone here knows I just adopted a male border collie. He is such a sweet heart and a mummy's boy. However, when it comes to taking him out, he just froze on the spot and refuse to move. Twice this week when I took my babies out for a car ride with me, my girl got into the car on her own, but he just froze on the fence and tried to play dead Both times I have to end up carrying him into the car which he enjoys once in it. Is there anyway to get him to walk with me to the car willingly? I do not want to be always carrying him into it
  13. Thanks all for your suggestions I totally agree with you that I should be the one to be trained. Hmmmm... do you think the boarding trainer will take me in for a week?? :D
