  1. Farewell my most treasured girl, your life was taken far too soon. You were the light, joy, love the world is a much bleaker place now you are no longer in it. Oct 2010 - Jan 2015 Wait for me, one day I will be with you again and never again will we be parted.
  2. There is a dog friendly motel in Albury (Allawa)if that is not to far down the road for you. Me and the fur kids stay there quite often when going between Vic and NSW. It is quite close to the center of albury but still good for getting them out on a walk in the surrounding suburbs.
  3. Wow I feel the opposite way, central/northern NSW coast not as cold in winter not as hot in summer. More pleasant lifestyle too. I am considering moving there :)
  4. That's not a worry for me as I have two Akita's no sane person is dumb enough to try :) That said if someone wants to break into your house dog door or not they will get in, smash windows lift tiles etc.
  5. The pet sensors will open the door for them.
  6. There is another alternative to cutting a hole in the existing door. You could go for an automatic sliding option, no need to cut the glass. http://www.autoslide.com/pet-door-video/
  7. I take my Akita's to vote and have not had any issues at all (they are not small dogs at over 50kgs each). I have even been to some schools to do work where there was a resident dog. Most of the trouble is that the rules are inconsistent between locations and the type of people around I think.
  8. Firstly I think you should get confirmation from a canine behaviour expert, but IMHO this sounds like the dogs has his nose out of joint with the new family member. From the dogs perspective a new family member has come along and dislodged him from his place in the pack. Have you seen two puppies when one grabs the others nose and holds it until the first puppy submits in order to establish dominance? Could this be what happened?
  9. Because I doubt many people actually have $15k to throw on a puppy. I don't know there are people that will pay more for a car than the median house price!
  10. $15,000 per puppy two litters a year and never work again. Wonder why lots of people are not attempting this.

  12. I have two 50kgs+ double coated Akita's, so dog hair doesn't bother me much, yes when they are blowing coat it can and does form up into dog hair tumbleweeds. Simply fixed with some vacuuming, compared to other things they have done in the house hair is the least thing to worry about. Given the choice between a spotlessly clean house and one full of furry family love, I say bring on the hair and the paw prints and so on. I once got into bed and found a piece of dry dog food in there as I nestled down, no worries I thought put it on the night stand to take to the bin in the morning. Started to snuggle down again and found another piece slightly damp dog food 'queue look of horror' raced out of bed, spent the next hour and a half washing changing sheets and disposing of the huge puddle of dog vomit one of them had left me hidden under the bedding.
  13. The simple answer is my two are Akita's They are very friendly and affectionate and love getting pats from anyone, but when push comes to shove Akita's are natural fearless guardians. An intruder may get in, however they are likely to call the police themselves to get rescued from my two.
  14. www.dogbedsgalore.com.au My dogs are over 50Kgs and use the Snooza raised beds with the comfy covers and they love them.
  15. The Altona Motor Inn in the center of Albury is Pet Friendly I have stayed there a few times with my Akita's without any issues. It all depends where about along the trip you plan to take a break I guess.
