  1. Of course - it is a business after all and had the BH food not disagreed with my two as of late (they did beautifully on it a few years ago) I would have continued to purchase it. I still find it disappointing though.
  2. I strongly suspect that for me it's going to be "365 days of Maggie"
  3. Same scenario here with our two - with dandruff to boot unfortunately I know when it comes down to it BH is a business, but I must admit I was a tad disappointed to see a huge promotion for it in Pets Parasites today I'd heard good things about Evo which I'm led to believe was a PP only product until recently, so there's really not much that's turning me away from giving that a try now
  4. Nawwww thanks! They may or may not have been playing rough & tumble beforehand
  5. Hope I'm allowed to post in here seeing as I haven't even been remotely close to committing to this  Just didn't think the photo was worth sharing elsewhere. Alas, the two loves of my life
  6. We wanted our Dane pup to be a Lulu but for some reason it just didn't gel but Lucy did?
  7. If he's cranky about the fine, chances are he wouldn't be willing to fork out the cash for a solicitor either. I wouldn't be concerned Mantis, but still a pain for you to have to deal with
  8. I managed to find it cheapest at DWI, still no layby though. Oh well!
  9. My main concern was that I believe it's now been discontinued and don't want to miss out I did manage to find somewhere where I could put it on layby (I've since forgotten the site) but it was at least $300+ more than other websites with more competitive pricing so a bit counter-productive, really. Minimax, not sure whether that was a dig at me or not but I don't have a credit card because I have personal responsibility :)
  10. Hi all Because huga is an enabler, can anyone advise me (as the title states) whether a website exists where I can layby a FujiFilm 100x? I just don't have that kind of cash at the moment
  11. I too have requested as a great friend of mine is considering a Boxer addition :)
  12. I donated my beautiful Tess's body to the student body at Uni Melb We simply couldn't afford to have her cremated and brought home. We were unsure whether it was a brain tumour or stroke but either way it really wasn't good so felt that if it in any way shed some light into canine neurological disease then we were all for it.
  13. Thanks all Megan Dane Rescue are aware of her, thanks :)
  14. For those of you who know my history (and those who read OT), I can't believe I'm having to go through this again. It's like some sort of sick joke. Please if you have any personal attacks to make, I'd ask that you keep them to yourself as I didn't choose to get sick. Lucy's details are on PetRescue as follows. http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/201542 If you know of anyone with large/giant breed experience that could open their home to our beautiful girl do please let me know.
  15. Same story here, Maggie's gone up from $27 to $31 and Lucy from $34 to $39.
  16. I have quite a few, but one springs to mind was my naughty Weimaraner stealing a Krispy Kreme Doughnut straight out of the box, but because she was a 'good girl' and wasn't allowed to eat it inside was waiting patiently at the back door to be let out to enjoy her reward (nevermind the fact she had stolen it)
  17. Welcome! We are proudly owned by a Great Dane and Boxer X. They are a fantastic combination and equally 'robust' in terms of their ability to play; and they play HARD. I will say, I did a great deal of research into the breed and even still I was in for a shock. My Dane in many ways is in line with the breed in that she can be a big sook and an even bigger galoompa, but she is abnormally active for the breed. I would not really be comfortable with the idea of her playing with anything smaller than say a cocker spaniel as she simply has no idea of her size but that doesn't go to say it can't work. I have, in the past been knocked back in adopting a pug due to the extreme differences in size so this may be something you need to consider (albeit in reverse!). I'm constantly aware that the sire of my Dane died from Bloat & other gastrointestinal complications in the lead-up to his torsion so this is also something to keep in mind. I cannot recommend enough to spend time with as many Danes as possible prior to your decision to introduce one to your pack; they're an amazing breed and well worth the investment of time, money and energy.
  18. With my Tess it was instant, although she's no longer with us now. Maggie we 'clicked' instantly, and Lucy? Well, let's just say she's still a work in progress
  19. I think it's a great idea. Having a Great Dane naturally attracts a lot of curiosity in people; not always welcome!!
  20. I think everything's pretty much been covered already in terms of adhering to policies etc. which I think was the right call to make. However I find it ridiculous that they wouldn't even let the OP spend some time with the dog in question purely for some interactions sake. He had been denied adoption of the dog but was still denied after the fact the chance to throw it a ball!! It also makes me feel quite uncomfortable (but not surprising) that the question was even asked re: residency. Burwood and it's surrounding suburbs has a very large student population and as many of the previous posts have shown; apparently not all students have good long-term intentions. Now, at the risk of having my head chewed off I ended up adopting Maggie because I went to the LDH after having quit my job that morning and wanted to spend time with some needy smoochy faces. I went there with no intention of adopting a pet but like the OP, was not a particularly huge fan of crossbreeds but just 'clicked' with her and she is now a much-treasured and adored part of our family (I did however put her on hold and go home and have a think about what it was I was signing up for!). I think the OP was already somewhat mentally prepared for the addition of a dog to the household given the ECS enquiries so the insinuation that the acquisition of "a dog" would have been a complete impulse purchase is not altogether fair. ETA: All residency issues aside; this forum is littered with folk who have acquired dogs without much preparation: people who have rescued dogs left behind in neighbouring backyards, people who have 'saved' puppies from petshop windows, people who have 'rescued' dogs from the trading post for fear of being used in puppy farms, either way - the psychology is the same. The OP saw an opportunity to adopt a dog (who he deemed at the time to be 'at risk' even though as mentioned previously if it was in the adoption pens it wasn't at risk of being PTS).
  21. Go with your gut. Always. You want a breeder with whom you can build a rapport; if you feel the foundations are already shaky AND you have doubts as to the confirmation/lineage of said pups then walk away, heavy heart and all
