  1. The change in his coat is amazing! Hes lost a lot of the puppy fluff & now has lighter, wirey hair coming through. I have him entered in the Adelaide Royal Show, he will be 8 months old, so that may be his last bath & brush out before his flocks/ cords all start!! He really was worth the huge wait, as he is the best puppy ever, & has a lovely temperament. Qui loves everyone is just so gentle and easy going :)
  2. Havent updated for a while ..... Qui is growing up so fast & has changed so much since he first came home :) He's now 23kg, is nearly 7 months old & has gone grey!!
  3. The Bergamasco sounds very close to what you are looking for :) They shed minimal hair, are usually flocked/corded , but can be brushed or flocks cut shorter for lower maintenance. The coat appears to be lots of work but it really isnt at all. Are a Medium to large dog. Great with kids Easy to train Not too clingy & needy
  4. Qui is now 4.5 months old & getting so big, weighing over 16kg! He's still such an easy and well behaved boy. Love my gorgeous boy
  5. Qui is very soft and fluffy! For the first 9 + months he can be bathed and brushed, but once the flocks start to form, they are then separated by hand. No baths for a while from then , as the flocks become too tight when wet making them harder to pull the hair apart. Im sure we will be asked a fair bit, if he is an oodle pup, though we were asked at a show today if he was a Briard as they do look similar.
  6. Qui arrived home on Friday night & hes settled in really well He is beautiful, such a cuddly big boy, who has been perfectly behaved so far.
  7. Not long to go now!! 6 days until Qui comes home :)
  8. 6 days to go ,until my little boy is home! I also havent had a puppy in the house for 8 years :) very exciting!! Qui is also now entered in his first shows. Hes the first Bergamasco to come to South Australia :)
  9. Poochmad - the flocks dont go all the way to the skin, which allows for airflow, so no skin issues, and so that the flocks dont pull on their skin! Thats just the way they form naturally :) I might see if one of the 3 Bergamasco owners in Australia might join the forum to explain more about the breed & coat as I obviously havent owned the breed before :) They are also not as high maintenance as they look to be :)
  10. I havent met him yet, but Qui is changing so much every week!! This photo is the latest one, taken a few days ago :) His name is pronounced Kwee, & means "Here" in Italian. Westiemum, As i will be showing him, his coat will be left in full flocks! I havent seen a Bergamasco with the coat brushed, but some owners cut the flocks shorter so its easier to manage. Lots of photos to come as his coat changes. The flocks will start to form at approx 9 months old.
  11. Hes coming from NSW. The 2nd litter of Bergamasco born in Australia.
