  1. Thanks for the link Belijae. I think that is what she bought for $5. It had a spiral wrist band on it too. I remember the holes under the button because I was trying to look inside to see how it worked. There was different colours. May have to get one next week at obedience.
  2. So there are different types of clickers? So if you can click it with your foot that leaves to hands free. I don't know much about training, is there a lot of times when you need two hands free? I guess if you were teaching hand signals you would.
  3. Hi Just wondering what people expect to pay for a clicker? Was speaking to someone today & they said the pet store they went to was $10.95 & their dog training club was $5. Seemed like a bit of a difference to me. I thought they would all be the same kind of thing as in one would not do more than the other, they just click that is it. Anyone?
  4. I am so sorry. I hope you are doing okay.
  5. Why is it wrong? Do onto others as you would have them do onto you. I am sure there is a real reason like the dog doesn't understand what is happening & why but personally I just think it is mean.
  6. Isn't Royal Canin made in France & China? One goes to the USA & one comes to us. I remember earlier this year USA was having probs with RC but we weren't because we had different countries of origin. Anyone?
  7. Rang the vets this morning & I mentioned about leaving an ovary & she said she would talk to the vet & get back to me. She is almost as tall as her mum but no where near as broad, vet nurse said that with girls the desexing won't affect the growth as it would with a boy. So waiting to talk to vet now.
  8. One of the reasons I choose males is due to the desexing being less complicated. I thought that dogs desexed well before their bones have stopped growing ended up slightly taller . Unless I planned to do agility or flyball with my dog when they were older (hard on joints), I would go ahead and desex at about 6 months. It's about $100 extra to desex later than 6 months with my local council. I enquired about desexing later and you still have to pay the higher fee. Yes I have never had a female dog before. I was under the impression that if we had her desexed early she would stop growing? Wasn't planning on doing agility but in the few weeks of doing obedience there has been several comments made to me by the instructors that they thought she would be good at agility. Just looking into this as I had my male Ragdoll Cat desexed by 6mths & he is about half the size of his full potential. The reason I got a male is because I wanted a big cat. Thanks for all the replies. I will be ringing some vets in the morning.
  9. Okay I am after advice. I have read a few posts regarding desexing & people have mentioned tube tying & other things. We don't want Lexi to have pups but we want her to grow to her full potential which I am under the understanding that if she is desexed before being fully grown this won't happen. (did that make sense?) I really don't want to deal with a dog on heat & the risk of falling pregnant. So is there any other options than desexing? I just thought desexing was like a hysterectomy? But I think I read in another thread that it was more than a hysterectomy. Just a bit confused. She is due to be registered at council in less than a month & of course that will be cheaper if she is desexed. Thanks Beth
  10. There is different kinds as far as large breed giant breed etc ones specially for certain breeds of dogs. But if the packaging was exactly the same I would think it was the same product inside.
  11. I bought 2 packets yesterday at Coles as they were on special. I divided it up into bags to freeze but gave Lexi the containers to lick & she loved it.
  12. I know she started puppy preschool last week. As far as supervision with children that I cannot answer that. I have sent the link to the owner of the dog so she will keep checking responses & I will let her know when there are new responses. That dog poo one is a good idea. Thanks everyone. Beth
  13. Thanks for all the replies. I shall pass it along. The dog is by itself 4 days a week becsuse of adults working & children at school. When I was there yesterday when she got out. The kids had all been out there playing with the dogs & my dog was still in the yard with her when she went next door. The main worry is in summer if she gets over there during the day she will not have access to water & she seems to get over but not be able to get back. Thanks again.
  14. Hi Just after some advice. A friend has a 4mth old Lab that keeps escaping. She was going over the fence till they extended the fence up now she is digging to get under the fence. She had my dog to play with today & she still escaped. We thought with a buddy she wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Next door has a dog but it is an inside dog so isn't in the yard. She has toys & children to play with in her own yard but still seems to want to go next door. Suggestions? Experiences?
  15. Maybe try chicken wings. I give the bigger dog wings & the little dogs necks.
  16. I am no expert but aren't the figures on the bag a guide for an animal that eats nothing but the dry food?
  17. I thought Parvo was a pup thing. Does it affect older dogs too?
  18. A friend of mine fasts her GSD every 3rd nite.
  19. My little dog does this. I think it is because he doesn't like to get his feet wet. I would much prefer he do it on the grass, I think it is easier to pick up that way. Some always seems to stick to the concrete.

I am so sorry. I would like to give you a round of applause though for being so kind & trying to help. If only there were more people in the world with as kind a heart.
  21. C5 for 12week old cost me $81. We then chatted for about 20mins about general dog & puppy things.
