  1. I cannot believe this case is still going!! John should be admired for his tireless dedication to the fight of BSL!! An amazing person who I imagine has helped many people going through the same bullshit he has endured!! Lets hope there is an end in sight for John, Kylie and Tango!! This bolded bit above is confusing to me. If there is DNA proof that Tango is in fact an Amstaff then why has this case continued for 5 years? Is it simply that the GCCC refuse to go to court and have this in evidence?
  2. RnB if the dogs involved were not pups then most people wouldn't be so outraged by this.
  3. The owners are responsible for this tragedy because as usual they left someone else to sort out their byb litter!! Go read the pound threads here, hundreds of dogs are pts every day due to stupid people. If these dogs were not pups it would not have made the news! Yet another reason why desexing should be compulsory!!
  4. They stuffed up but the silly woman still had an unregistered dog on the property. How hard up are they for news stories!!
  5. When its the safety of the dogs future, $55 isn't that much to ask really. Rescues should all be educated about BSL now and exactly what it may mean to a dog, esp Bull Breed, that they are rehoming. I still don't understand why they haven't stamped out xbreeding dogs and creating all these problems in the first place. Pound staff do their best and I sure as hell couldn't be there day in and day out doing what they do.
  6. I wouldn't be risking bringing a red nosed dog here to QLD cause you may well put him in more danger.
  7. If that was directed to me, I never thought you did. Sorry, if my comment came accross like that No it wasn't directed at anyone in particular. I understood exactly what you were saying in your earlier post.

  9. Not once have I ever made a negative comment regarding the APBT!! My post also says nothing negative about the dog but personally I do think the bloke is telling porkies which is what my comment was about. Owning Bullies and a Pittyx I am well aware of the negativity that surrounds certain breeds. I agree that it is great to hear some positive publicity about the breed, the negative stuff will always in the media too. The dog in the vid appears to be a great example of the breed and I don't think anybody would dispute that. I think sometimes people read too much into some comments that are posted.
  10. I found it odd that the kid had apparently only earlier in the day been nearly hung and yet appears to not have a mark on him! I'd be getting my kid checked at the Hospital not making a vid for youtube. The guys emotion seems almost fake to me, I actually think the story is made up.
  11. Sure is but what a shame it isn't happening over here in Aus.
  12. You are so right there!! There are many people more deserving of a celebration than that low life scum bag Vick!!!
  13. sad story but that fate also awaits the hundreds of dogs pts in Pounds across Australia everyday simply because they are "pitbull type" dogs!! A tragic waste of life that is the fault of those disgusting laws and the dipshits that don't care enough to keep their dogs safe!!
  14. PM dol member TYBRAX and she will give you the info you need to keep the dog safe!!!!
  15. Oh Colleen I am so sorry to be reading this. I had been following your threads regarding your Dad and am very sorry to hear of his passing. It sounds like your Dad was very well loved. Take care.
  16. I was lucky enough to see that episode. I absolutely loved it. The dogs were gorgeous and it was so wonderful to see that they were able to overcome such a horriffic time in their lives. Georgia was so beautiful and it was great to see how kind they were to her, such deserving dogs of that kindness.
  17. In a perfect world this may be possible but not everybody wants to spend $1000 to $1800 approx on a dog. What then shall we do with the dogs that do not have papers? The rescues and the byb dogs? Should we just pts them all and make people buy from Reg breeders to get the papers.
  18. I think people also forget that there are some breeds of dogs that have that "built in" dog aggression. Thats not to say they will be dog aggressive but most APBT owners understand that it can be a trait of their chosen breed.
  19. I am fairly certain that Vick had to pay a certain amount of money to help fund the rehabilitation of these dogs. There will always be the argument that you could have saved more dogs that didn't have issues. Fair enough but there will always be nice dogs being pts whilst people dump them and breed them willy nilly. I have watched some of the stories on these dogs and believe that they did deserve to be saved as much as the next dog. How well they have rehabilitated proves that.
  20. Its not really that simple though LM. Whilst most rescuers won't take on dogs with aggression there are very good reasons for it. The majority of rescuers on DOL (if not all of them): (a) have a surplus of dogs without aggression dying in the pounds they deal with. (b) lack the skills (or their foster carers lack the skills) to deal with truly aggressive dogs AND dogs with other behavioural problems. Then there are other compounding factors. As an example here in Albury/Wodonga, a rural centre, the pressure is on even more because we're it for the dogs of the area. Taking on any dog that will be in foster care for many months means that other dogs just as deserving or more deserving die. Also - our nearest behaviouralist is 3 hours drive away meaning that the costs of getting that help goes up, not to mention wear and tear on the rescuer's personal vehicle, costs of petrol which is always paid out of the rescuer's personal pocket and time away from other dogs. For ADR I can quite categorically state that we can't afford to add $500.00 plus to the costs of any rescue without raising funds - we're doing well when we have $1,000.00 in the bank. Then there is the question of how do you decide which dog you spend the money on - is it better spent on the dog with a health condition but no behavioural issues? There is great personal satisfaction to be had from assisting a dog with problems to be a regular member of canine society and I would love one day to be able to take on dogs with issues and work through them but I can't justify doing that when dogs without issues are dying and when the money and experience required to assist the dogs isn't available. I'd hazard a guess that most rescuers feel the same. To compound the issue here in Victoria (which is half my area) we have to work within laws making it illegal to rehome dogs with known issues (fence-jumping being one). Fantastic post. If there was unlimited funds, time and carers then rescue would be so much easier. I think it is fantastic that these poor dogs have been given a second chance at a wonderful life. Great publicity for the Breed and might show people that not all "pits" are bad.
  21. Interesting to read that the are NO pitbulls on that list. ;) Sad to see so many Bullies or Bully crosses though. Although I do believe that some breeds of dogs should never be crossed with another. and BTs are one of them.
  22. RIP Pip. Your dad will be there to guide you on your way. ;) Such a beautiful boy taken so young. :p Thinking of you Choppa and your Family during this terrible time. :D
  23. Bummer, that is nowhere near me. Would love to see pics of the gorgeous wee baby though.
