  1. I much prefer that people follow up an initial email with a phone call, even if you ask when would be most convienient At least you get an idea of what the person is like. After all buying a pup is a relationship of sorts & we all want our babies to go to the best homes. I dont undestand the huge price differences, sounds very dodgy to me, as all pups should get the same quality of care regardles of papers (ltd or main)
  2. Hi Everyone, I have just had a pug litter and one of the pups eyes has already opened at 8 days old. I dont remember my other litters opening their eyes quite so young. The eye looks a tiny bit inflamed so I am going to put a tiny bit of eye ointment in it that I have here to prevent any infection. Show holiday here so dont want to ring the on call vet just yet as puppy is powering ahead in all other respects. Just wondering what age other DOLers pups eyes start to open at? Thanks, Maree
  3. Ive just had a litter of 3 pups. One died within 48hrs presumambly 'fading puppy' and the second died with the same symptoms at 5 days even with vet intervention antiotics, supp feed hydration etc . THe third was a strong healthy boy & he started to go downhill on day 7 gave him antibiotics and supp feeding him as Mum has all bar lost her milk, he had an eye infection that only came up 2 days ago, today it has gone down to normal. When the pups were born there were 2 out of 3 placentas with muconioum (sp?) in them. Still not sure why this all happened..
  4. Is there a naturally sourced thyroxine replacement? Not sure how I feel about using it otherwise...Is there side effects, Im sure my vet woldnt go with something like this, I like to have my info all set before I try & put my point across
  5. I have used RR quite a bit over the years, not all that much with my animals though as i always worried about the alcohol content. To yappydawg: Would be it be possible to have a post about what Bach flower remedies you can use for what symptoms etc? I 'd love to read it & save it t o have on hand to refer to OR is there a book we can buy that will cover our furry (and not so furry )companions ?
  6. Interesting reaction Yeah, as far as laziness ...I sometimes feel guilty for not spending as much money as I could (as some other ppl do) on my dogs but I think why feel bad as they are healthy (alebiet one is a tad heavy but we are working on him) and are never (touch wood ) sick and have healthy teeth, gums etc and this on a modified Barf type diet which is definitely cheaper, again this is a sml breed too.
  7. As for the anal gland expression would diet help that? Eg pugs are known for the need to have them expressed too and I'd always been told plenty of roughable eg raw wings and chicken necks ? Have had a few slicks (no , not nice especially on the way out the door to the Drs appt etc LOL) but only a couple of times.
  8. I have two pugs. We live in Far Nth Qld. We have a paralysis tick season every year & after trying everything else the most economical thing we found was Bayer Killtix tick collars replaced every 4wks rather than every 6 wks in peak season. Canemax tabs (does all worms and heartworm) every 6wks works out $23 per dog (approx 10kgs) for the year. I used to get the jab for my boy but this is a lot cheaper only prob have to remember to religiously do it every 6wks. and Advantage for Fleas (if any) replaced every 3 wks rather than 4. We buy the largest size pk and divide it up by weight as it works out cheaper
