  1. snook - glad you took Justice, I was gonna encourage you to but your post was too early for me :) monet' - ah how cool is that! why didn't I know that? do you get to play with all sorts? or just with the birds? okay, that's like a really boring question that you get asked by everyone 'eh? I've just thought Werribee Zoo has an outdoor bird-hide, would that be considered permissable for this theme, the birds aren't fenced in, they aren't fed either if I recall correctly? more of an academic question as I don't have any time to get there now ...
  2. how'd you go this morning Snook? monet' - aren't the penguins the cutest! where do you work? cc - sounds like a great day out hope everyone is going well, or getting there :) a ramble coming up: didn't really want to repeat the rainbow lorikeets from the last theme (even though I only had one shot) I've been trying to get gallahs or corellas or some unidentified parrots at the kids' park just round the corner from me, I've walked there with a dog and the 70-200mm multiple times and either they haven't been around or it's too dark or they're too far away, last night was my best effort but it was all of the above, too dark, they weren't on the ground feeding like I wanted, rather hanging and flying around high in the trees, the few semi-decent shots I got was when I walked away from the trees and watched out for them coming flying in from a distant tree, but yeh, nothing very good mostly silhouettes and too distant. I did get some ducks at the river early this week and was glad to have them as back-up, though wish I'd had the 70-200mm lens on rather than the 50mm as although the shots are pretty they're not intimate which I figured would be better as to indicate the theme yeh? Anyway, as a last ditch effort I tried this morning, again, some corellas on the ground feeding, but as soon as I tried a little closer they flew up into the trees again, even shot off a couple of magpies on the ground, I continued onto the dog park where I knew there was a family of those unidentified parrots I'd vaguely thought would be cool to try and capture, I've seen them there when I've taken the dogs for their walks but haven't been in the right frame of mind, or with the right lens etc. to really give it much of a go, this morning I hunted them, as soon as I got there and let Chester off the lead a few flew off into a far-off tree, I followed a little and waited a little and they came back down to the ground to feed. I've never really been able to even see them very closely because they're very camouflaged, a faint greeny blue with yellow black and white on the wings and one tiny spot of red, the other sex are duller almost sparrow-brown and they hang out in pairs (something I only know now from this mornings trip) Often times I've walked right up on them without knowing only when they are flying off into the distance. I'm happy to report that I got some fairly decent shots from this effort (although they aren't off the camera yet, you know how that can turn out 'eh?), considering my lack of experience in doing this sort of thing. And I still need to identify them. And the other thing I wanted to say is despite my lack of creativity combined with ability in photographing anything other than my own dogs, I'm really enjoying these themes, these parrots I've seen so many times and thought how cool it would be to get a shot of them but never had the right circumstances, this fortnights' theme has really made me make that effort to ensure the circumstances came together to give it as good a go as I could! cheers :D
  3. 102/365 - trying for some variety 103/365 - new favourite :D

I actually missed my first day over the weekend, I just plain forgot, thought about it, got distracted by doing something else, thought about it, got distracted then forgot, it surprised me because so far I've not even been close to missing one, oh well :p 93/365 94/365 95/365 96/365 97/365 98/365 99/365 - love the bokeh in this! 100/365 101/365 cheers :D

I'm terrible with food photos, have tried a few times but it always looks wrong :) of course Roscoe is looking happy along with his handsome :D dso - nice colour in the sky and light (star) trail? 77/365 - took me a while to figure out what was going on in this one when I first looked at the print
  11. to clarify that, I totally understand keeping it private until postdate I may employ that later :D of course, the 1st to the 14th, I was thinking Monday to Monday which was where I got the idea there was an extra day cool! good question, I hadn't even noticed the different sizes 'til you mentioned it? Mine are ready to go, but waiting on the size decision :D
  12. can I just quickly clarify that the schedule date is to be Tuesday 15th? or is ok to do it on the 14th - I'm sure I'll need that extra day later in the year, but while I'm ahead of the game? personally I don't mind the preview 'cause like you said it's only us that see it and fwiw my shots for this theme are not in the least bit interesting, so I rambled a bit to compensate :D oh this turned out to be a longer post than I intended, but I'll be back when I have a little more time
  13. misteri - nice, I like it :) kja - liking those colours on your macro flower! 74/365 - a little drugged-up after his successful cryptorchid operation (last month) 75/365 - :D

  15. wow, some very nice images in here! lms - cool feathers shot :D redangel - she sure looks like a character I finally got some film back 72/365 edit: just to confuse everyone the above shot was 72 not 71/365 ... oops
  16. great photos everyone I'm still waiting on 3 films to come back now, beginning to get nervous and impatient not sure why I like your driveway, but very nice :) love the light, what camera/lens was this taken with?
  17. I have an idea, took me a while, and I've tried it out, which was necessary due to the fact that I often get great ideas that are basically un-executable, just need to make the final image a little more interesting (here's hoping) and the other 2 related images have been shot so I'm going good :D I was initially worried with this first theme being so needing of creativity and open to interpretation, but was just thinking how relaxed the timing has been :)
  18. hey, cool! this is the perfect place for my little project that didn't really fit into the 2012 365 thread - I started at an odd time ... I've been doing a 365 since Oct 1st with my shepherd Saxon, but I'm exclusively using my recently acquired Nikon F2 and 50mm f/1.4 35mm film camera. The good thing about film is that I'm not in any hurry as it often takes a week to get the film back, I feel leisurely able to take the photo every day without the stress of getting it onto a computer and editing it afterwards, actually I barely do any editing except maybe to b&w (which is why I feel I've not done a 365 before?) anyway, I'm actually waiting on a film to come back (it took an extra week over Christmas and NY) but I'd like to share a couple of favs. here before starting semi-regularly posting :) 18/365 29/365 35/365 40/365 45/365 (shep-matian lol trying to be like his big brother) that'll do for a sample, I love playing with the film camera, and decided to do this to get better at taking photos with it, admittedly the majority of shots I've taken so far are the overhead portrait type but the manual focus is so hard to get right along with the metering and everything else, and Saxon looking left right and everywhere ... I really just want to see some improvement by the end of the year thanks :D gorgeous pup, what's his name?
  19. it comes from Kristin so should be easy to spot amongst the other stuff?

  23. loving all the Christmas cheer in here :D here's a variety from my lot ... in the end I failed to get one of them altogether, I blame the equipment, those Santa and Elf hats refused to stay on their heads ;-) the very last shot I took of my 3-dog attempts, Saxon was gnawing quite happily on that hat while I was seriously distracted on getting the flash settings right (the off-camera flash stopped working for some reason I haven't looked into yet) note to self: figure out how to use the equipment properly before trying to get the shot and then I basically ran out of time and patience with it all  Lotus would have hung out with those reindeer ears forever though I think, she was quite comfortable with it all, and even Chester sat and tolerated for a while while he was blinded by the elf hat
  24. Reindeer Saxon says: "you better be good!"
  25. a quick update as the 40kg puppy had his 1st birthday today he didn't get much of a celebration today, just this gifting shoot and some yummy treats because I had to go to work, but also he just had his successful cryptorchid operation earlier this week and he's on strict rest :) I gave him a kong twizzler toy early though, he loves this stick, carries it around with pride and I got us to the river last week when I realised I'd booked his op. the same week and that he'd be out for his birthday ... he loves getting wet! :D ~~~
