  1. oh pretty girl, can definately see jrt in her face here :D sure looks like she was having fun!
  2. nice light discodobe, she has great long legs :) thanks kirislin ... sounds like a better location :D and because I'm here, had a quick look, one of Lotus from the film camera in July
  3. yeh, the sigma version yesterday arvos best, Saxon and Lotus canon 50D 85mm @f/1.4 ss 1/640 ISO800 the light wasn't too good yesterday (I was a little late), I think I got better ones this afternoon
  4. wow wow and wow these are awesome
  5. like kja's suggestions was going to start a "square" thread, just because I've been inspired by possumcorner's link in "August" and came up with a few landscape ones this morning :) other than that, I'm game for most though textures, and macro stacking sounds too time-consuming for me
  6. kja:  hmm that must be why I actually got the 85mm on special nice annie :) I've been getting a few intuitive moments lately, it seems I took some photos this morning with the 85mm ... here's the best one, of Bonnie (my mum's dog) on our little walk to the You Yangs canon 50D 85mm @f/1.4 ss 1/6400 ISO100 eta: I also took it out this afternoon with the dogs
  7. Saxon is most definately a smoocher! love those last 2 particularly, nice :) huga: need it? I can't say, it's my newest and I haven't had much a good go, the one thing I did find was that I chopped my dogs legs off a fair bit, just not used to the length I guess. Will work on it this week and give you a better review? couldn't even find a single shot from this month tlc: yeh, the sigma
  8. see I have that one too
  9. thanks all huga: I seriously think I have too many lenses now, I'm embarrassed to admit to them all ... AND I can never decide which ones to use or leave behind when I take a walk. tlc nice one of the brown lab :) what was the personal challenge? Saxon and his petting face, he loves being loved ... want to get this look when he's getting petted by someone else Canon 50D, 30mm @f/1.4 ss 1/1600
  10. Maverick - kitten is so cute :) thanks huga :) sid is adorable, with the head tilt and all I have one last one to share, before having to really dive into the archives, or create something new Saxon when he hadn't the stamina for posing @ 5 months old
  11. thanks guys :D huga ... your boys are such good little models, love his expressions in both those :) oh I forgot about the exif data Lotus is with the 105mm @f/3.5 ISO100 with the 400D in the morning, and Chester is with the 30mm @f/2.0 ISO100 with the 50D in the afternoon, and oops just noticed Chester's was taken 30July, thought it was August
  12. thanks huga ... love King Sid :) thanks possomcorner ... cool link! I do like my beach landscapes (seascapes?), have done a few square ones, one of which is my personal all time fav. (and that particular image doesn't look half as good in 6x4) ... worst thing about them is that they are difficult to get printed ... like snapfish doesn't offer square, and although I've tried putting them on 6x4 backgrounds, doesn't seem to work as well and is time consuming ... admittedly I haven't really put much more thought into it other than that, but anyway that's an aside the other thing I was gonna say is that I don't really "see" square when I'm taking the photo, but my general compositional in camera "style" seems to lend itself well to them and moreso when not taking photos of my dogs while I'm here, just pop in a few from earlier this month Lotus, a little muddied up and Chester, with a bit of mud chewing going on :p the park puddle has been back in full swing this winter cheers
  13. thanks all snook: yeh, I still like the 3rds too, I also like the diagonal half/half kinda composition, like my 2nd shot down? sweet tlc! I like the lines in that first one, and cute being told off. yeh re: your composition comment, I never center my shots normally, use that bead focus off to the top/bottom left/right but tend to enjoy the odd centered square crop, especially of dog face portraits :)
  14. thanks guys :) kirislin: love the young dude cutting your trees bjelkier: Lestat is one gorgeous dude, great in b&w too :) huga: esp. like the happy faces cc: yeh, the 3rd one is nice pers: sweet sleepy shot of Leo in the late afternoon light! a recent (late July) non-dog shot, I had fun with that foreground foliage, not sure what it is exactly but there was a large patch growing taller than me by a small lake, and I took quite a few shots from various angles etc. ... by-the-by it was one of those freezing mornings where I couldn't feel my fingers while trying to take pictures
  15. I'm a big fan too! must be why I like your stuff so much huga :) here's a recent fav Lotus at the park
  16. cc - nice catch with the bees, so tricky kja - Tilly is looking sweet there :) revj - that's one happy dirty corgi! I like the daschie, and although I keep looking and getting distracted by the torn tights, it does make me wonder about the story, yeh :) cat - lovely detail on the pelican, I don't mind the dark I was wondering what or if there is any rules as far as square portraits go? like rule of thirds? I think centering works but just wondering what others thought? a few too many examples of various compositions ... good old Chester (these are mostly from his 11th birthday trip)
  17. yeh tlc, I get the this-camera-is-too-heavy-shakes with the 50D and a heavy lens, particularly in the late afternoons at the dog park that I like the light best, I just shoot a lot to compensate what's huga said: "spray and pray" lol thanks snook :) nice ones of your fella in his pj's from earlier in the month, the colours are great!
  18. thanks tlc :) ... your guys are all looking good! just travelling through the focus thread and here so nice to see some enthusiasm again
  19. cool to see a monthly challenge came back to dol to visit off topic and find out if anyone has any experience with caring for people with dementia, found nothing particularly useful, but got distracted over here ;) I'm not sure if I've learnt much since last I was here and posting often, just been doing the same old same old stuff, not progressing very much with photography, getting lost in flickr-land lol, still taking lots of photos, just nothing extra special, I did get a manual SLR film camera which has been challenging this shot I took earlier this month with the canon 50D, lens 50mm f/1.4 @ f/9.0 s/s 1/100 ISO3200 - it was a bit of an experiment for me, I usually shoot wide-open or very close, I like it ... only really works this close, eliminating most of the background handsome Saxon
  20. how cool! love the singing duet :D and wow, look at Maverick's coat, didn't realise he'd become so lush and fluffy :)
  21. awesome shots Kirislin excuse me if you've said, was just looking at the photos and not really reading replies, but it looks like low-light conditions?
  22. I don't pay for any presets, and I have WAY too many b&w ones, not enough colour, slowly building up my own colour presets built around the ones I do have, or adding colour back to the b&w ones :D I learnt how to do all the downloading/importing and even textures through youtube, love those really short and simple vids for that sort of thing most of my presets come from presetheaven
  23. lovely girl! I like her dark and solid look :D 10 mths huh? so what do I have to look forward to, Saxon (7 mths) is currently destroying bedding at a rate I can't keep up with, foam all over the backyard when I come home from work, clean up and do it all over again
