  1. such adorable puppies! brilliant photos! :D
  2. hey thanks all! kirislin - yeh, lost Texas in March, Jamie in December the big bugger is 6 months old now! he's like a miniature giant lol this isn't exactly a new trick, but here he's demonstrating how he learnt to open the back sliding door (none of my other dogs have ever figured out how to do this, it's kinda annoying ) and another different kind of size comparison :D
  3. i wrote a reply to this already and it disappeared into cyberspace ditto rev jo: I'm not sure either, maybe that statement should have been qualified with if they spent years practising in their chosen field there is the potential for them to become professionals? ;) borders on insulting for those who have done just that, on the flip-side why couldn't they be professionals, it really only takes a certain eye for it that needs nurturing, including the choice of image? passion or technical expertise? in my lost post I added something about the history of photography where some images were produced without such skill or knowledge, of even them being very good at the time, but rather an interest in capturing certain things, that are now considered part of photographic greatness And again, having said that, I understand them having not the knowledge or skills with the tools (camera/lights etc.) and areas they have been assigned, let alone the time, I think that they've done very well, however, I wouldn't say that any of the images presented so far would be considered professional? I thought they made the right choice last week, but the week before I preferred the Vince shot if only for the quirkiness of it
  4. I can't believe I missed it again! it competes with my regular Dr Who (despite the fact I've seen them all before - oh except last week) I've been stuffing up the days this week though so that's my other excuse, bugger ah just found it on iview, going to catch up now :)
  5. clover, thanks for your condolences for Jamie ... not entirely unexpected, but still sudden, and well wishes for Chester ... he's hankering to get out Saxon's bred by Gipfel (his name is Gipfel Bare Foot) and since I'm not entirely responsible for how gorgeous he is I'm gonna have to agree :D :D :D
  6. Maya is gorgeous! Love her black mask and that curl in her tail :D Looks like she's having way too much fun in the water :)
  7. thanks :D oh and I should mention I lost Jamie-girl late last year and for almost the same amount of time I've had Saxon, Chester has been on crate-rest/recuperating from a slipped disc in his neck - so not much play between the boys, and none in the future my pack now looks something like this (so serious lol): (you probably can't see, but the uneven pink square across Chester's chest is where he was shaved for his surgery a couple of weeks prior to this shot - next week he'll be ready for short walks again at last!)
  8. Hi all, it's been a while, I haven't intentionally been keeping the big/little puppy quiet (so to speak), but now with some time off, I belatedly introduce my new little/big german shepherd puppy Saxon :D both his ears were dropped when he first came home but it only lasted that first day, before 1 ear popped up then dropped again for a few days then both mainly up a size comparison @ about 14 weeks and @ about 5 months (last week) water lover and swimming pro not a bad retriever either (when it suits him) looking almost like an adult but still a bit cheeky :D that'll do for an intro ... better hit the add reply button before he gets too old
  9. yeh sorry, I've been stolen by flickr so tend to spend my internet/photo time there, I check in here now'n'again crew has changed a fair bit, as you may remember lost Texas early last year, then in December we lost old Jamie girl I started a 52 Weeks project with Chester (with an out'n'about theme) then I found out he had a slipped disc in his neck which required many many weeks of rest, and he's only just come out of a surgery that should help, next week he gets to go on short walks again finally, so regretfully abandoned the weekly shots. Been taking weekly photos of Lotus with a "toy" theme ... but the big news is big baby puppy Saxon (german shepherd), he's keeping me very busy! He is almost 6 months old now and bigger than Lotus and Chester already :)
  10. looks  thanks for the heads' up :)
  11. I'm so sorry Annie ... Cowboy, you will be sorely missed
  12. oh he's a beauty and just like my boy, loves water, came home and tried to be inside the water bowl from day 1 :) loves the kiddy pool too :) My boy, Saxon, is only 14 weeks atm ... this is from when he was 9-10 weeks
  13. nah, you're right, wasn't exactly obvious ... I've been pushing (or cropping) him out of photos for the past 2 years love your hand-over shot btw ... to be honest I didn't even know you had another girl, looking forward to getting to know her :D
  14. haha ... nah, that was the idea for the handing over the reins, yeh?
  15. sweet :D Happy New Year to you too
  16. congratulations on finishing, it's been fun seeing all your puppies each week has been a busy Christmas, so a little catch up Lotus 51/52 Lotus 52/52 Chester 51/52 Chester 52/52 Happy New Year!
  17. picked up what looked to me to be a purebred American Staffordshire Terrier last week, well he literally joined us on our morning walk, so I did what I would always do with a friendly stray dog, get him safe in my backyard and call the council in hindsight I'm not sure that was such a bright idea to me he looked the same as any Amstaff I've seen at a show, he was entire, well looked after, could sit and drop, and retrieved the ball like someone had taught him, brought it back to my feet, of course he was missing a collar/tags or I would have just called the owner straight up I think he may have been better off turned back out into the street so his owner could find him, or he could find his own way home, I couldn't do that, he wasn't road savvy, I guess a trip to the vet could have confirmed a microchip ... I couldn't keep him, even for a few hours (I wouldn't let any new dog stay in my backyard, and I had to get to work) I don't know what else to do in this situation? I only hope that he was being looked for, and papered ... how else would he have survived?
  18. catch up ... 48/52 Lotus 48/52 Chester 49/52 Lotus - whiskers 49/52 Chester 50/52 Lotus 50/52 Chester - yet another series :D loving everyones photos the past few weeks hope to do something at least a little Christmassy this week (no idea what though) it being Christmas this week hahaha - yup behind as always
  19. haven't had a kitten/cat for many years and have found him to be the best fun to watch, particularly when interacting with the dogs. Lotus is particularly good with him, and Luka will seek her out for play and a cuddle over me most of the time ;) I caught this on my mobile the other day during the thunderstorm, how sweet! video on flickr
  20. Great photos everyone SammieS - just love Asti's week 46 her little tootsies behind her just gorgeous! weibritty - like what you did with Marlo's shot last week  gila - love week 46, great light! helen - how  that coke came through with those 2, great pose from Chazer! I just get "Nan" or "Pop" or "Boss" you take the lens off the camera, kinda move it around to get the focus, google it for better/clearer information - flickr has a group too that has tips etc. it's bad for your camera, attracts dust to the sensor ... I used my "spare" dusty camera to try it ~~~~ a bit of catch-up Lotus 46/52 Chester 46/52 Lotus 47/52 Chester 47/52 :D
  21. I lost LR2 when my computer went belly-up a few months ago, and everytime I've gone to buy LR3 recently I've been wopped by an unexpected bill, like my hot water system bust a couple of weeks ago just when I'd set up a deal to share the cost with my mum, I'm financially up shit creek atm, and with Christmas coming I can't see any light in the tunnel, I know it isn't that expensive, but I just can't justify it, I figured too that it might give me a chance to learn how to use elements a little better, but I really don't enjoy editing the way I used to with lightroom. I will get it again, maybe in the New Year.
  22. oh sorry, it was just an unrelated rant about not having lightroom anymore, only ps element8, with which I've found doing black and white's very unsatisfactory ... and wondering whether using the sliders in ps elements8 would help, although it is set up very different and I'm not even sure I'd be able to find the right kind of thing, I know there's red/blue/green and contrast sliders, and I guess that would be the closest thing, but I really don't know? I so wish I had lightroom back ... see, not really relevant to the topic at hand, hence the edit ... but left the  'cause I can see the differences between your Lobo shots, and I like :D
  23. tried freelensing for the first time this week Lotus 45/52 Chester 45/52 :D
