Many breeders keep pups till 10 weeks very normal. We also dont supply papers until sterilized some state bodies its fine providing its clearly stated prior too . The breeder can place in joint names until spayed or on limited reg alternatively. Microchip paperwork must go with pup & that is your proof of ownership for the council & the dog . Those prices are cheap . As others have already said You will need the dog in your name & be a member of your state body aka Dogsqld. If wanting a bitch you will need to do the waiting period then sit & hopefully pass the breeders exam & then pick a prefix. Qld has different requirements as all puppies need to be DNA tested prior to registration . Depending on the colour of your dog ??Will also depend on if it can be breed with in ANKC . Health testing absolutely especially for IVDD,eyes,VWB & the other few this would apply to male & female & there status as to whether worthy of being bred. Also not all animals should be bred & in Dacchshunds the quality of the back & construction is so important . You then need to factor good mouths,soundness in movement & temperament . The papres wneed to be ANKC Already on mains or the breeder willing to upgrade & you becoming a member for anyone on DOL to be able to use it . There are other registrations so papers could mean anything . I would highly recommend understanding your local council /state law requirements as a breeder then familiarize yourself with ANKC requirements . I already have a line up of friends and family who will take a puppy and before I get howled down this is not a money making venture. Breeders rarely make money but pay out plenty to just get a litter on the ground at the end of the day you will be no more special than anyone else BUT you will be a breeder liable for any issues you bred whether sold to friends or family ( i gather those people are prepared to pay ) You will still be bound by your responsibilities as a breeder so infact any sane person breeding is looking for the best /permanment home So at the end of the day you will have DNA fees,microchip,vaccination,worming,registration fees,feeding,time off work potential C section (should always be factored) AI if dog wont mate ,prog tests & the list goes on for expenses .

No one can really answer . There are pros/cons . In near 40 years never ended up with an incontinent bitch . I guess you just have to weigh up all the factors including how an entire bitch affects your council permit & managing pack dynamics when she is in etc etc

First off make sure the breeder is happy to agree to this . Personally i wouldnt worry about the week off infact we encourage our buyers to keep the routine as to what it will be in the future so if your going to stay home for the week dont fuss so much that its world is turned upside down when you go back to work . 10 weeks isnt a problem but that 8/10 weeks needs to have some skills being taught so depends what the breeder will do if holding it longer

We board a few American/Australia n Bulldogs . All have lovely nature's but owners struggle to walk them with there size and power and have health issues especially bad hips ,crossed with a pitty I would be seriously assessing this choice with a child and his friends coming over unless all the humans are prepared to put in significant lead training,social skills and manners . We have boarded pure pittys and all where delightful but start crossing them and that's a whole different cup of tea. Also there alot of dog will it fit into the car you have . Will it be an inside or outside dog . What is the health status of the parents with hips/ elbows etc . Cats n dogs are no guarantee of getting on that's something that will always be a thing . Some cats are horrible to dogs but yes a cat needs a safe area for the early stages

Have to agree i wouldnt be looking at a female especially when your expectations are for it to be its ears ,confidience & getting along for life is a big reason for getting the second dog so i would be very much looking at a male & the personality you want it to role model & give this pup . Have you had the BAER test yet ? Yes plenty of bitches live happily together plenty more dont . In near 4o plus years of multi dogs we have only had one drama & 2 girls who where best friends until one night & no way in hell where they getting over it & a breed that never has those issues .Just 2 girls in cow mode & for ever seperated . Also be mindful that some dogs also dont gel with dogs with issues .So finding the right soul to be group leader is worth the wait & not the rush

I would not under any circumstances get another pup until you have taught this one life changing foundations especilly through the age changes & tackling new outside experiences plus pup learning the sensory changes it will use differently like smell,vibration (walking around traffic,outings to park ) Another pup will just take away vital tool training this pup deserves & may make it overly reliant & focused on the other dog in an unhealthy way . This pup has yet to experience life skills & it is important you set it up to be independent & able to cope on its own . One fright will be a big part of her growing up journey & teaching the pup how to cope during these times is so important Buy the dog buttons & teach to push for commands. Alot of deaf dog owners use them . Your dog may not be clinically deaf but low hearing,it may be uni or completely . Obviously its your choice to get another pup but make sure your prepared for the very extra work the new pup will need & the constantly training the deaf pup to not be a follower & loose focus on its cues to be safe . And yes i have owned medical needs dogs .

Yeah that would be still a no. Ear Haematomos are no comparison to taping ears to help the fold . We have taped ears and big experience with Ear H. A breeder is the only source and if the ears aren't right no amount of tapping will help . To the Op that is a small head compared to ear size . What are the parents ears like ? What has the breeder said ?

I would wait . And i agree that each day should be a memory day & photo's . When the time comes then the fun of selecting a new person & new journey will begin & ofcourse whether the children want another cavie,for some replacing with the same breed is too hard or the same colour .

We have always had multi dogs so its is our normal and we are set up for multi dogs & licensed BUT it comes with alot of extra effort meeting the big age bracket needs,mental enrichment for all,tranquility . 2 is company 3's a crowd is reality especially for people arent willing to sign up for the pack needs

A breed known to be a successful at a job doesnt equate to cant happen . If your wanting people to say it would never happen because its a Maremma no one can .

One area we dont self med is Eyes . We cant see scratches or the "possibilities" but the wrong eye stuff can end badly .

Barn hunt is a fab event. I saw the Barn hunt national titles in the US . An event all dog owners can compete in & all dogs .

He was just given free range to use them at first & grasped that concept so quick . Im not wanting them out 24/7 but in his case they have been a great brain game for him . He is a bright pup gets bored very quickly but the reaction of the buzzers have made it a real fun thing for him thats not the norm .He is a very "foot" dog that swats,touches,shakes without training so the buttons allowed me to teach a foot & reward game for him that also teaches focus & self control I just got the 4 set to start

Depends on the company some may road transport but that will still cost plus hire crate fee Most breeders/show people n Australia use Baycity,Mooreholme,KCR & a couple of others . I have used those 3 & considerably cheaper than the others & great service

Take away the lack of care care of the dog i can tell you as a boarding kennel owner we get plenty of owners lie about there dogs medical needs & i cant tell you how many owners of senior dogs would do weekend board & hope it would die or we would have to PTS on there behalf because they were to gutless to do the right thing. We have had dogs brought in just like above & had to refuse boarding them as it was beyond cruel for an owner to even think that was the right path.
