  1. As you know it'll probably take around three months for her to be a (fairly) normal little dog, she'll lose that awful nervous look and become more outgoing and happy. That photo breaks my heart. ps, I love your floorboards

  3. A bit tearful here, what a beautiful dog. My heart goes out to you B xx
  4. Giving meds can be a problem with determined oldies, Zara has to have 1/2 Urimav tablet twice daily and though it's easily put in her mouth it doesn't matter how far I push it down her gullet she hucks it up, I now dissolve it in an eggcup with a little water then mix it with her Vets All Natural and meat and she gobbles it up quick-smart, so check with the vet/rescue to see if the tablets can be dissolved in a little water first, it certainly saves heaps of stress (and no dog slimy saliva on your fingers either) I'm looking forward to the piccies If you haven't done so already search for 'how to bath a dog that is frightened' there are some good tips and videos on bathing
  5. There is a FB group called 'Free Pet Rehome, Adoptions and Rescues AUSTRALIA ONLY' it may be worth joining
  6. I have older Westies, the latest from Qld Westie Rescue, the woman who runs it insists on raw diet especially for her skin problem dogs (some Westies are prone to this and crook diet when they are younger doesn't help) I found that minced turkey necks (you need a very robust mincer for this and chop the necks up long wise first...use a tomahawk, it's easier) put the mince in containers and freeze then when you need the meat part just thaw and mix with cooked pumpkin or sweet potato and vegetables, I have gotten lazy and just cook up single feeds of either Bell Farms or Woolies Winter Vegetables, I choose the winter veg as they don't have corn. They also get some of the frozen broccoli or cauli as a treat. it's not a cure-all but it helps Aldi and Woolies have turkey mince in the 500g trays, sometimes you can pick it up as a mark-down (yippee!) There's no bones it it as humans don't like the crunchiness so perhaps buy turkey wings and cut them half
  7. @Westie mum can you help with Coneye's question? I remember that your wee Mac had an ear ablation and the results were good
  8. that nearby breeder have no proof that the pups are pure bred so your best bet is to cast your eyes further out and travel to a good breeder, I see you are in Qld so this page may be of help https://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/breeders/german-shorthaired-pointer.asp?state=QLD Contact breeders nearest to you asking about their pups (I see that they sell for around $1200+so that sounds good to me) Here is the list of Qld puppies https://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/puppies/german-shorthaired-pointer.asp?state=QLD Good luck in your search
