  1. My policies are due to expire in June and it looks like they'll go up from $81.30 to $116.78 (for two Chis) which is more than my own recent health insurance increase. The difference between Classic and Ultimate is only 36c though?? I also haven't received any notification yet. If you're not happy with the increase and wish to cancel, I would ask for a refund of the last installment and then immediate cancellation. In the PDS: Seems they are not meeting the terms of their own PDS.
  2. Thanks all! I can't be sure what sort of poison (if any) killed the mice as we don't use any ourselves. Thinking about it, they were probably rats as they were pretty big! I think I'll start doing a daily patrol outside before releasing the hounds just to be sure. It's kinda weird as we're in the middle of suburbia so it seems a huge coincidence to happen twice in the one yard. So true  Nacho is like 10 of those dogs.
  3. Well the one that was in his mouth was quite a few weeks back. The one I found today looked untouched and as if it had been laying there awhile. I think in this case I will just keep an eye on him but if I see him with one again I'll definitely vet check. Thanks Erny. Mostly he is supervised outside, at least periodically, because he gets up to mischief. Zoe is too old to care about dead mice and Moose is an angel (mostly!).
  4. Twice now I've found dead mice in the backyard. A few weeks ago Nacho had one in his mouth (intact and appeared "fresh") and the other one I just found decomposing next to the shed (dog accessible area). I don't think Nacho is catching them (could be wrong) so presumably they're eating RatSak at someone else's house and coming into our yard to die. If they were baited, would it harm a dog just to have it in his mouth or would it need to actually be ingested? I helicopter parent enough  so don't want to be rushing off to the vet every time Nacho puts something gross in his mouth (regularly).
  5. Ummm Fordogs, I think you need to check your receipt because it looks like you bought a bear, not a dog...!
  6. Small, 3.5kg, male Chihuahua. Front right: Back right:
  7. Small boofa, 4.5kg, male Chihuahua, left front paw. :D I will try and get one of Moose's, his are quite dainty (don't tell him I said that).
  8. I took this then realised you said medium/large... posting anyway cos my reluctant model is funny.
  9. I get Happy Paws as well. :)
  10. Erny/Steve - would you recommend I wash them with the Calendula shampoo/conditioner (thanks Steve for the samples!) first and then tea sponge or just tea sponge for now? They did have baths with a sensitive shampoo last weekend before I did the ACV sauce bottle trick so they are pretty clean.
  11. Thanks Erny, makes sense. :) I think I'm going to try your trick (well I think it was yours!) and brew a couple of batches with the tea in stockings and then use that to sponge the tea through their coats.
  12. Possibly a silly question but... if I use the rinse on the dogs while they're standing in a bucket, can I use the same steeped tea for both dogs or should I brew separate batches?
  13. Yayyyyyy furPants!!!! :D :D :D
  14. Much improved this morning, thanks guys! Very very slight bump still but nothing like last night.
  15. I did think of that. :D Just waiting for my order from Steve to arrive. :)
  16. He's all bluff and bluster. :D It's his 1st birthday tomorrow, I think he's just trying to make sure I'm on the ball, lol.
  17. If there is any concern it's just at the amount of time I was taking to do the photo whilst holding a treat up in the air.
  18. I think I'll just keep an eye on it and if it's still swollen in the morning make a vet appt as I'll be home earlyish tomorrow. My vet is 24 hours though if it gets worse. If it was a bite and he was going to have some sort of anaphylaxis it would have happened already right?
  19. Could be anything! He and Moosey do bitey face but there's no wound or anything. If I don't look at him with my paranoid eyes on he looks normal front on (he naturally has a bit of a fat muzzle). Lips don't feel swollen. Breathing and behaviour is all normal. Bloody dogs.
  20. Okay, just got home from work and noticed that Nacho's nose looks a little funny, a bit like it's swollen on the top. Am I seeing things? He's not bothered by it and inside his mouth looks all normal. Just monitor? Today on the right.
  21. Thanks very much pers! Really really hoping they aren't in the yard. I couldn't believe how "sticky" they were! Very difficult to tweeze off... plus all the hair doesn't help. Is permoxin effective if sprayed on soil? Or just on the dog itself? :)
  22. Just a shout out to you as a forum search tells me you are very familiar with stickfast fleas. I think I have picked most of them off Moose and Nacho, mostly around the ears but a couple in the paws are hard to get at because of all the fur. Moose also had 3 on his belly. You've said that Permoxin works well to kill them off and I just had a couple of q's if you don't mind. :) 1. Do I have to apply Permoxin repeatedly or will 1 - 2 treatments do the trick? I'm hoping they picked them up on a walk so they aren't living in the garden. After 20 odd years of dog ownership this is the very first time I've ever seen them. 2. Would I need to treat Zoe as well? She doesn't come on our long walks and is elderly so I'd like to avoid it if possible. She has no signs of having them. 3. Do you have an issue with them in the house or do they not really infest furniture? I'll be doing all the dog beds in a hot wash tomorrow.
  23. Diagnosis....... stick fast fleas! Which makes sense as one of our neighbours has chickens and the doves might be picking up the fleas and dropping them in the soil. I'm hesitant to use a spot on so the vet recommended a Fipronil spray. Any harm in trying a couple of ACV baths first and if that doesn't work try the Fipronil do you think?
  24. Yes quite a few Willy Wagtails and Turtle Doves hang out in the back yard. They keep pooping on my washing. I'll mention that too the vet too, thanks RS. :)
