  1. If I exercise my dogs doesn't that mean I have to exercise too?? Stuff that!
  2. I check them every couple of weeks. It's a bit hard to manoeuvre the clipper into the dew claw position though so I might get the dremmel out again. My kids aren't too bad, I find if you're confident and quick it's much easier. Plus treats help. :D
  3. He's lovely Lhok, congrats!!!
  4. Nacho is getting big too. He's still a bit shorter than Moose height wise but he's soooooo long, I think he's half dacshund. Upside down plank!
  5. Interceptor every 2 months. I don't do fleas. :)
  6. ALL policy providers are underwritten by Hollards except for PetPlan which is Allianz so you'll get much of a muchness with RSPCA, PetSecure, etc.
  7. Hmm yes I'd at least propose that scenario to them to get confirmation first for your piece of mind fairystar.
  8. Yep, you can nominate your start date ( this is what I did so the payment for both dogs would come out on the same day). ETA: I don't think there's any point starting it early as I'm pretty sure they don't cover them until they're 8 weeks old.
  9. You have to do whatever makes you comfortable. The price difference was negligible for me and I preferred the PetPlan policy and reviews so went with them. Nacho came with 6 weeks cover so really I just had to switch Moose over when I renewed Nacho's policy. Zoe is still covered by PetSecure as she was too old to change.
  10. In fact the PetSecure waiting period is 30 days so PetPlan beats them there. :)
  11. There's a waiting period for illnesses with ALL plans, accidents are covered immediately.
  12. I find the wellness plans a waste, you can only claim $145 per year and it costs you $115. Personally I couldn't be arsed making multiple claims to save myself $30.
  13. Do pet secure cover illnesses and conditions for life, or do they become pre-existing conditions after 12 months and are no longer covered? Yes they cover your pet for life but not the pet's conditions, ie. your dog gets an eye injury, they won't cover recurring issues with it like PetPlan.
  14. I switched from PetSecure to PetPlan, I liked their policy better (lifetime cover etc) but I never had any issues with PetSecure.
  15. Ratbag is the perfect descriptor for him!! It's a snuggie.
  16. Hmmm I don't think he's suffering too badly... bloody dog. :)
  17. I thought I had pers but this might have slipped my eye as he's never paid any interest in it before. Will be extra vigilant don't worry. :D I have really long hair, like past my butt, and I have had to remove a strand from Nachos bottom that had some poop dangling off it. Nacho is proving more challenging than Moose ever was.
  18. Oh I think I've got a 'Boston' on my hands MM. I'm hoping it might settle down when he finishes teething but I think that's just wishful thinking!
  19. Thanks TSD! Nacho does not fall in the camp of dogs that are capable of 'learning a lesson'. I know this because I've had to stick a piece of paper to the glass sliding door at Nacho level as 3 head bangs later and he's still not sure what the heck is happening. Upon further inspection I'm pretty confident that what came up is all that went down and his tummy is flat so I think I'll just watch him. I'm just so glad he threw them up as I had no idea he'd even eaten them! I thought I'd puppy proofed but he loves to teach me I'm wrong.
  20. Nacho threw up about 15 thin strips of leather this morning. Needless to say, the throw cushion that they once delicately fringed will now be relegated to the bin. If he brought it up fine and did a wee and poo as normal and is being his usual (mental) self would you just monitor? Or do you get them vet checked anyway? I've never had a dog eat such a quantity of an inorganic object before. ETA: by monitor I mean I have to go to work today but will be home early.
  21. I was given a photocopy of Nacho's reg papers when i picked him up as the original needed to be sent off to get him transferred into my name. I got the original in the post a few weeks later, still on main but stamped not to be shown or bred from. Did the breeder tell you that you were going to get papers?
  22. Banned for life and $48'000 fine. http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/cruel-pet-owner-fined-48k-banned-for-life/story-fnhocxo3-1226678680721
  23. This story is on Today Tonight at the moment. Very sad.
