  1. I love the premise behind this 'stunt'..showing that abandoned dogs have a purpose..what a lovely thing to flag and to do it so publicly is so clever. It clearly shows that dogs are not disposable entities....but clever, wonderful beings, which us well-advised DOLers knew already!
  2. Baz-Waz and Polly-Poo (Basil and Polly) or when talking about Polly to others...'Polly the Wonder Dog' (not saying anything that isn't true!)
  3. I am just amazed at man's inhumanity to animal/dog sometimes..this does little to reduce that amazement...terrible
  4. Yes. It's not always the owner that is behind it. I also think that because there is a set against euthanasia in society, people don't really consider it as an option or don't feel capable of doing it. For a lot of these oldies it would be less disruptive and kinder on them to call the vet and have them PTS at home. Yes I have made plans for my older few to be PTS if something was to happen to me Ditto. We would rather they were pts than subjected to goodness knows what.
  5. what you are doing is very kind and compassionate...
  6. I have no problems making decisions..it's just that they're usually the wrong ones!
  7. they are precious to us aren't they. Had my little girl to the vets last night..only an open scratch on her face requiring collar and antibiotics, but I was so stressed out. They say that life is stressful with children..we'll I'm here to vouch that life can also be stressful with dogs! Glad about your little girl...all sounds promising.
  8. sometimes it's quite tiring second guessing their actions..if only dogs could talk, imagine the outcomes. In the interim we have to guess and when we care, the guessing is plagued with worry! all the best Jules Cavs
  9. I believe this is an absolute treat for dogs..our two eat ours too...yep...all pretty gross.
  10. not being dismissive of any health concerns you may have, but our little pom girl has also started going under the bed a lot more, and takes herself off to the bedroom for longer periods and we have attributed it solely to the weather..we have tiles too and it's cool and she is obviously more comfy there..in winter she's on our bed, but summers..she's under it. As I said, not slighting your concerns, but it might be as simple as wanting something cool to lay on.
  11. All the very best for today..for Bella and you.
  12. I love these sorts of stories..everyone is a winner!
  13. my two have shared some very deep, philosophical discussions with me..they don't say much, but I like to think they give appropriate consideration to what I'm saying and are supportive of my decisions..it's all you can ask. When I get little response from my husband on my appearance/makeup/dress etc, then I can count on my little girl to give me that honest, yet genuine support I need. She's very intuitive when it comes to what I'm needing.....
  14. I'm just about to go into a meeting and now will be going in red-eyed..how profoundly true.
  15. Cougar, I think you are beating yourself up internally over feelings you can't fabricate! In an ideal world we would all give and receive equal amounts of love, but it doesn't work that way in reality. I think that you have to just accept how you feel, acknowledge it and carry on giving your Dog A the care and attention he has obviously always enjoyed. When he goes you will be able to look yourself in the mirror and say to yourself (with no self-recriminations), I gave him the best I could - that's already so much more than many dog owners (non-DOLers) do!! Ease up on yourself!
  16. my two are irreplaceable. I would feel so disloyal...silly..but next time it will be a cat.
  17. You should actually feel honoured that you were spoken too...the number of times we pass others in our neighbourhood with our dogs in tow, and we get totally blanked...enjoy the interaction!
  18. I didn't reply initially Naiwin, because I have not experienced this situation. Fortunately my two are both youngish and of a similar age. That said, I was saddened to hear that you felt there was little interest in your predicament. I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and your poor little girl and can only hope that time will assist..that's what they say anyway. My best.
  19. my two dogs are very discreet..they don't talk about what they see.
  20. It's not a free world, it's Troy's world. I did reference forum rules.
  21. I am of the opinion that it is (supposedly) a free world..where we can all exercise our own right to do and not do...that also applies to this forum. If an item doesn't appeal, or indeed, offends, then don't read it, but at the same time, don't dictate what others can comment on...unless it falls outside the forum rules, nobody has a right too. It's like people who access Facebook, read something unpleasant and then get upset about it...simple answer...don't go on facebook. So many people nowadays want to set the boundaries for others to abide by...as I get older I get more intolerant of people dictating...no one has the right...my penny's worth.
  22. I think I had my fondest memory..yesterday. It was early and I was sitting on the settee talking to my mum. Next to the settee is a recliner, positioned next to our front sliding door window, which I usually sit in of an evening (OH hogs the settee). Anyway, as I'm talking away, my little girl jumps on to the recliner (never seen her do that before) and puts both paws up on the arm rest and rests her little head on her paws and looks out the front window. Sat there for ages. I thought to myself, how many times has she sat there, when we're not home..watching out for me/for the world? She looked so adorable and so intent of purpose..warmed every part of my heart. I know, probably nothing to anyone else, but I guess our memories are all uniquely special to us.
