My mini schnauzer Zeppi (RIP) had one. He lost the canine and the small teeth around the canine, in order to get good margins. We used a specialist surgeon because oral surgery can be a bit tricky and it was the type that grows into the surrounding tissue (acanthomatous). I don't remember how much the operation cost. It was over ten years ago now. Epulis keep growing so while they are "benign" they have to be removed. There used to be a dog in the states called "Pumpkin" who was abandoned and had one. The poor dog looked like it had a pumpkin growing out of its mouth. http://www.pugrescue...rg/pumpkin.html

Wouldn't an antihistamine help?

I just received the renewal paperwork from Petplan (that should have arrived 3 weeks ago). The cover letter is addressed to me but the certificate of insurance is for a 5 year old female chocolate Labrador called Ruby who lives in Tullamarine, Victoria. Considering Remy is a 3 year old male schnauzer and the certificate of insurance also has Ruby's owner's name and address, I'm a bit concerned. I know Petplan is better on paper but what price do you put on getting the basic details right? EFS

One of the differences may be the death benefit. You can opt out of it hence smaller price.

Dog Swallowed A Foreign Object
SchnauzerMax replied to sheena's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If you have a strong magnet you should be able to use it on the bag of poop without having to examine it in detail. Remy ate a box of staples once. The x-ray at the emergency vets showed he had chewed them thoroughly - no open ones to be seen. The solution was lots of soft food and a rare earth magnet against his bags of poop. Needless to say after 2 days his poop was magnetic!! -
I'm moving Remy (my standard schnauzer) to Medibank. Max (my mini schnauzer) was with Medibank from the start, so I get an additional discount for Remy. If next year sees huge increases with Medibank, then I will be doing the same as you . ETA. I still have not received a renewal for Remy from Petplan. I pay annually instead of direct debit, so I wonder what will happen?

There's actually a form on their website that you fill in for cancellation. You have to fax it or mail it or scan and and email it, though.

You'd be surprised. For my first trip to Costco I saved over $100 after the joining fee was accounted for. I used a spreadsheet to track prices and I always came out way ahead. Consumables like paper towels and toilet paper are a great deal cheaper, if you have the space for the extra large quantities.

You can pull the pin immediately if you haven't claimed in the current insurance year. If you have claimed, you are up for the annual amount anyway.... it's the way insurance works even though you are paying a monthly instalment.

Tramadol has some nasty side effects in some dogs. It seems to affect their vision / balance which makes them exceedingly stressed and anxious which in turn defeats the purpose of giving it.

Help Please, Swollen Penis. Keeps Getting Stuck Out
SchnauzerMax replied to Remarkabull's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you spray a solution of sugar and water on it, it will help it to shrink back quicker. Desexing in some cases will help. It depends on the root cause (no pun intended). -

Petplan have just hiked up their prices. There is another thread here http://www.dolforums...emium-increase/ People are pretty cranky over it..

It is a large lump of cash and I budget to do it though, but I pay an annual premium - that way they can't put it up without me agreeing. If you claim and you pay your premium monthly, you are obligated to pay the premiums for the rest of the 12 insurance term anyway. Do they have a weasel words clause that says they can change the monthly premium after some sort of "notice" ???

Slow Motion Footage Of Dog Drinking

Neither did I! Amazing! -
Um, I don't think this is true. I think in the first case it becomes negligent driving occasioning bodily harm or death (or whatever they call it these days - I think the term is different in different states) and in the second case it may be just a negligent driving charge and 3 points on your license. I do remember a case that was in the news some time ago. A lady was driving through a 40kph school zone and hit a child who ran out in front of her. I think the child died. It went to court and her defense was that she was doing less than the speed limit so it wasn't her fault. She lost the court case and I think did jail time. I think the summary was if a car hits a pedestrian, the car driver is automatically at fault.
