  1. The vet visit was back in February. I had hoped that is was an effect of the hot summer but the cooler weather has arrived and she is still panting. The vet listened to her heart and checked her temperature (which was normal at the time) I have not measured her temperature recently. I wish that there was as an easy way. I should also mention that we have moved from a home with floor boards to a home that is mainly carpeted. Could that make such a difference? She could choose to sit in a cooler room with floor boards or sit outside but she prefers to be with us. She mildly pants whenever she lifts her head and she stops when her head touches the floor. The only time it is accelerated is after exercise which is understandable. She does have arthritis. Could that cause panting? Thanks for your thoughtful replies
  2. I have noticed that our girl is panting often - in fact every time she lifts her head. When she rests her head down she looks fine. Is this something I should be worried about? We have plenty of water available but she does not seen to drink an excessive amount. When I mentioned it in passing the vet said that it could be because she is a bit overweight and she has a long coat (but that has always been the case). Should I push it further? What else could it be? Is it because she is older ie 9? Have you had a panting pet that turned out to be ill? Does your healthy pet seem to pant a lot?
  3. I am sorry that you are going through this. Now is the time to go for the extra walks to the beach/creek or indulge him in a healthy treat while he is feeling well. The good news is that our boy coped quite well for most of the time (enlarged lymph nodes was his only symptom) Although he probably knew that something was up he did not know what the fuss was all about. His health started to decline 2 weeks before but only reached a crisis point on the last day, then the oncologist came to our house to help him pass on. In our case we had 2 months from when we first discovered the lymph node but he was also living with kidney and liver disease. We also decided against chemo but the Prednisone helped him feel well while it was effective. For now try to avoid carbs and have a supply of non carb baby food on hand. For more support please contact http://www.dogcancer.net.au/ There are dogs out there who are coping quite well with this disease. Your dog might be one of the lucky ones
  4. We have a fabulous 9 year old golden retriever that we love dearly. Do you think that having a new puppy/buddy to play with would extend her life? She has no major health issues and loves to play with other dogs. What has been your experience?
  5. In our experience it certainly did at the time:) It also improved her overall sparkle We recently changed to Joint Guard as she was showing signs of having arthritis again. Her mobility might be better with Joint Guard but I must confess that I think that she has lost a bit of her glow.
  6. What has been your experience with prednisone? How was it administered? Forgive my ignorance but does it come in tablet form that can be crushed and put into food? How often is it given? Were there any side effects in your case? (We are dealing with a case of lymphoma with enlarged lymph nodes in the neck which have increased although energy levels and eating habits are fine.)
  7. Has anyone heard of Zeolite or Poly MVA for treating cancer?
  8. Thanks for your thoughts:) We are looking at $4,000 if we went ahead with chemo. Given his age, other health complications and the trauma involved we have decided to forgo chemo. We refuse to abandon him so now we are on the hunt for other gentler yet powerful alternatives. Please keep your thoughts and experiences coming
  9. Have you had experience with Lymphoma? We are suddenly dealing with a case of Nodular Lymphoma and given a few of weeks survival without treatment. We are considering Madison-Wisconsin chemo. Did you opt for chemo? Were there any side effects? How long did it extend your fur child's life? Did you try an alternative approaches? Did you try the lymphoma herbal remedies? This is such a difficult decision to make considering that his only symptoms are the enlarged lymph nodes in his neck otherwise he seems to be doing fine. Affectionate pats to all:)
  10. Can you recommend an good online holistic health expert or vet? or a holistic health expert in South Australia?
  11. Thanks for your helpful replies. You have definitely given some options to think about. I am also considering Glyde. Could I use that in conjunction with Sasha' Blend for a while?
  12. Has anyone used Sasha's Blend as well as Joint Guard? We started using Sasha's Blend for our Golden Retriever's stiffness which has definitely improved her mobility and overall sparkle but we would also like to try out Joint Guard to see if we can make her even more comfortable. I believe that it takes a while to see the improvements from Joint Guard. Is it safe to continue to give her Sasha's Blend until the Joint Guard has kicked in? Thanks in advance!
