  1. Can anyone give me any information about a diagnoses of elevated liver enzyme levels which was revealed in a blood profile test in an old, small dog? I don't know the numbers but the vet said it was "significant" and has recommended an ultrasound. She mentioned cushings/liver disease as possible causes. The white blood count was low as well. We have booked in for an ultrasound, but the vet who does them is away for another week and a half. Has anyone been there with all this, and how worried should I be at this point - obviously I am worried! Anything I should/should not be doing?
  2. Sleep well, little one - you were loved.
  3. She had "learning difficulties"? That doesn't make a person cruel. When will people be made to take responsibility for their actions?
  4. Coogie, I used that little piece when my old girl passed some years ago. I wrote the story of her life with us and that was my quote. This, many years later, has brought tears to my eyes to see it written again. Beautiful quote, it helped me then and I hope it helps you now, MsDani.
  5. I'm so sorry, Ms Dani. Hold on to the good memories and know you were the best owner, you were there until the end.
  6. I'm so sorry. What has helped me is to realise that it is your dog's journey, not ours. Could I suggest you give your little dog a perfect day - devote the day to him and do things he always liked, feed him all the special food he wants, take photos, a gentle walk if he is up to it, all the cuddles you can fit in. You will be making happy memories to look back on later. Make the appointment for the next day and be there for him. Wishing you strength and hoping in time you will look back and smile at the memories of the lovely dog who shared your life.
  7. Sleep well, Chilli - you were loved. Thinking of you, Indigirl.

    Chalice

Sleep well, Chalice, you were loved.
  9. What a lovely idea to wrap him in your felt, he would be so warm. Sleep well, little one.
  10. Bet your boys get the best parties ever after seeing what Takoda got! I'm glad she has made you smile after a bad year before.
  11. Glad she is with you, Varicool, she will be getting the best of care and the best rehoming. She is certainly a sweetie.
  12. Thanks everyone for the replies. I have some good information to help in managing the condition. DOL at its best!
  13. Thanks for the tips - I had thought of veges, but the dried sweet potato chunks in the oven sound a good idea and easy to do. Will also have a look at the happy paws - Daxilly, do you give these to your lab with no problems? Any particular variety better than others? Also, those who give kibble, have you found one that is superior for this problem. I have her on Hills Senior and I live in a place where there is not a heap of choice with brands.
  14. My 11 year old dog has been diagosed with pancreatitis. With the help of the vet I have the main diet under control but I was wondering if anyone knows of any treats I can give my dog - of course, very low/no fat? Apparently Dentastix are okay for the teeth, and I am providing the best food for her but would like to introduce an occassional treat, but don't want to do her any harm. Any ideas from those who may have gone through this?
  15. Sleep well, sweet Karma - you were loved.

    Atlas

What a following Atlas had. Sleep well, sweet boy, you were loved. Look after yourself, Teebs.
  17. I too remember Jen Jen at Seniors and always thought how lovely it was of you to adopt both the little dogs. They were so lucky to live out their life with you, being loved and cared for. Thinking of you.
  18. Sleep well, beautiful Charlotte - you were loved.
  19. I hope you have had a day filled with the making of beautiful memories that, in time, you will look back on and smile. Thinking of you tomorrow.
  20. Yes, I agree. Such a hard call to make and we can only do our best when it happens to us and make the best decision for our dogs, based on all available knowledge. I always remember that it is their journey, not ours, and as loving owners we are here to help them through.
  21. She is beautiful! Special treats today, I think.
  22. Makes you wonder about the thought patterns of some people - how could he manage a strong breed of dog with a broken/sprained foot and why would he think he could. The poor little dog and owner, what horrific images she would have to cope with. Off topic, Padraic, but your little dogs are sweet!
  23. I always had a smile at the "Riley, Riley long legs" - he was a beautiful boy. Sleep well Riley , you were loved.
