  1. Poppy had what could be her last ever course on Saturday We are moving back to the UK and from the looks of it there are no 'all breed' clubs doing coursing. We will probably get a greyhound once we are settled in our own house, so will have to take it up again then and Pops will have to find some rabbits to chase in the meantime  The weather was awful and we were at new grounds, so the course was a short 100m run. Poppy still loved it and forgot all about that rain once she spotted the course being set up! Looking keen between her runs - let me see that lure! These are her runs.....
  2. Belated Happy Gotcha Day Stan! I love following your antics, you gorgeous goofball
  3. I see the shop in question is now a proud member of Pets Australia instead of PIAA
  4. Hmmmm, sounds like your vet may want to read the AVA statment on vaccinations.... http://www.ava.com.au/policy/66-vaccination-dogs-and-cats
  5. The dogs aren't flying until the end of Aug, but I'll contact them today and get some ordered. Yes it would be small price to pay for her to be more comfortable during the trip. :)
  6. Oh dear Maddie It looks like she is about to use it as a catapult to fire something at poor Stan
  7. Thanks Karly, certainly looks like they are the way to go :)
  8. Brilliant! Glad to hear it lasted so long as well as it will be a long trip for them. Thanks HW :)
  9. That's really encouraging to hear, thanks HW! I'll ask my vet if we can get some before her long trip so we can test her with it first under supervision. Did you have to give it with food, as I try to avoid that when she is travelling? Cheers :)
  10. I'd probably be doing the same looking at those eyes  I can't believe she is going to be two already!!
  11. We are moving back to the UK in a few weeks and taking the dogs with us. I am a bit concerned about Poppy as she doesn't travel too well - She gets pretty nauseous and pants. We take her to the beach most days which is a short 10mins car trip, and while she has improved over the past year, she still vomits if the journey is any longer than about 20mins. I never feed her if I know she will be travelling and that certainly helps, but I am a bit worried about how she'll cope with the long trip back home. I'll be speaking to my vet, but wondered if anyone has experience of using Cerenia tablets for travel sickness and how effective they found them? Do they actually suppress the feeling of motion sickness, or just prevent them from vomiting? I've tried ginger and herbal travel tincures which help to some extent, but looking for something that may be a bit longer lasting for her? Cheers :)
  12. Ooo, lovely catbrit, what a gorgeous kingfisher!
  13. That makes it even worse in my view - she was already claiming they didn't source from puppy farms so should have been scrupulous in checking their sources. However we all know it is total BS anyway as no breeder worth their salt would sell to a pet shop
  14. I was at that protest, it was the tamest, most peaceful protest I've ever been to! They literally just make shit up  However the shop in question felt it necessary to have two 'heavies' standing outside trying to look menacing and took photos of everyone.
  15. I'm afraid I have no experience with regards to this YG, but just wanted to say all the best for Suess and hope you get some answers that help.
  16. Lovely to see more Didi pics, she is so gorgeous
  17. Some nice shots there catbrit :) I probably started getting interested in birds at a similar age to your son, both sets of grandparents were into birds and we would always go on walks to bird reserves etc. The interest has stayed with me and I always need to know what bird it is if it's one I can't readily identify  We have a bird thread here that you are also welcome to add to....it's been dormant for a while but here is the link :) http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/250951-birds/ BirdLife Australia have a junior membership called Stickybeak :) http://www.birdlife.org.au/support-us/join-us/
  18. Poppy did but as she's not papered she was in the 'unregistered small' group. She came 14th out of 33, not bad seeing as probably one of the smallest! She weighs 5kg and was competing against Border Collie/ AmStaff sized dogs  Her time was 10.8 seconds :)
  19. I haven't used them personally, but Wayrod on here is always recommended (Moorholme Park Pet Care Centre) and I guess JetPets and Dogtainers are others. Hopefully someone with experience of using any of these guys for international transport can help :)
  20. My little Poppy is like this, very independent! I love her to bits, but she is never going to be a cuddly dog. I put it down to us being her 3rd or 4th home when we got her a 5.5 months and figured she had never bonded with someone? She has the best temperament out of the three of them, pretty much bomb proof. She always sits by herself, except at night when she sleeps with us and then I know she's only getting close for the heat  Louis is the complete opposite and always wants to be touching me :)
  21. Congratulations on your new addition. He is totally gorgeous and sounds like a real little firecracker!
  22. Louis is another member of the pirate gang ;) His eye was removed after treatment for glaucoma stopped being effective after 18 months, removal was the best option in his case. I was amazed how well he recovered from the surgery and also how easily he has adapted. He can't catch treats like he used to as him aim is a bit off  but on the whole he does really well and has only bumped into a couple of things on his blind side. His interaction with the other dogs remains the same, and he still plays and wrestles with Poppy as before. All the best for your boy Stormy :) I took daily recovery photos after the removal if you are interested to see what it was like post surgery? Love my little pirate boy
  23. Haha, he's really enjoying himself :D Great shots too! :)
