  1. Halo - Get her conformation Ch title - Enter her in her first CCD trial - Get her HIC Akira - Complete her ET Would love to do some more agility this year, but unless I can get someone to help me, I think it's on the back burner for a bit due to club rules.
  2. Wow, that is actually something the stubborn sibe would happily do.
  3. I have the 2.8 without IS, and I find that as long as the shutter speed is quick I have no issues with shake. The auto focus is extremely quick as well, I tend to use that lens on auto due to my hands shaking because I'm not quick enough with the manual focus yet. I bought mine second hand, but it had only been used a handful of times. These were taken with the 2.8 - not fantastic, but it was my first time using that lens.
  4. My Husky girl will hopefully be doing the SA one.
  5. That would be good if we can. May give DogsSA a call and see what they say.
  6. I'm hoping for OH to do it with Akira. However, I am worried about him doing the willingness test with her, he isn't really a training person and she can be a stubborn cow. May see if I can convince him to actually do some obedience with her this year rather than me always doing it and hopefully that should help.
  7. Such a lovely photo whiskedaway. I'll be interested to see how I go with the focus issue too. I'm not sure whether to just start with a big depth of field once I'm taking them remotely or whether to use the same depth of field that I would if I was holding the camera and just persist until I get it right. Yes, focus was tricky (more tricky was the fact that I don't yet have a tripod though!) but I ended up cheating and focused on Akira, so I was kind of at the right point when I got in the photo. I'd never used the timer on my camera before so working out what to do was fun, LOL. So great to see so many selfies! Meant to say on Sunday that I love the running shot, Gapvic, and I like the triptych, DogSportObsessed. Lovely shot of you, Redangel.
  8. I want to try and complete it this year as well - I know I'll fall off the train at some point, but I'm determined to get back on when it happens. Having my new camera should help.
  9. I'm also going try and do 52 weeks of self portraits. I haven't organised a Flickr folder yet though.
  10. Completely agreed, the photographer who did my wedding is now AIPP, though wasn't at the time, and I love my photos so much.
  11. I would really recommend going into a camera store and having a feel of the different brands. I had a play with a Canon and a Nikon and the Canon felt much better to me, so that's what I went with. Which brand you go for is really personal preference.
  12. I got my Canon 60D, 50mm f/1.8 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 from OH for my birthday/Christmas. I'm hoping that someone else will give me a camera bag to put it all in!
  13. I didn't know that. That's not a bad idea either. Yes my council gives it. One of my dogs has it, the other doesn't (because they go to different obedience clubs and the one that the older one goes to won't give the certificate out) but it's only a $5 discount.
  14. My dad had a Yashica almost identical to yours, Huga.
  15. I always had collars and tags on my dogs unless being bathed but after i almost had one strangled they only wera collars when out htey are microchipped though This. My girls don't wear collars at home, due to the fact that I'm worried about then strangling themselves on the tubular fence by getting their collar hooked in it, plus being coated breeds it ruins their coat. Like you, they are microchipped though. Actually this can happen, my lappie's microchip didn't scan at the vet a few weeks back. Turns out it's moved down her leg slightly so was hard to find.
  16. My Husky is a massive licker and I don't mind too much as long as she doesn't go overboard - if I tell her to stop she does. I don't mind if she licks scratches, I have found that her licking my legs has actually helped my itching (funny considering that first off the doctor thought it was an allergy to the dogs!) I'd never let her lick an open wound though.
  17. I like cats (had them growing up) but I like dogs better. I would love to own a cat, but Akira wouldn't be able to deal with it and my hubby doesn't like them, so it's no cats for us and that's fine with me.
  18. Yep all good. Belly isn't as big, she wants to play with Halo and she's not drinking as much anymore. She went out to toilet a few times during the night, all runny but that's understandable with the amount of chicken she ate!
  19. Thanks guys, she's fine. Huge belly, but she had a spew and a poo and she's quite happy now. So happy in fact that she was very insistent that she get some of our dinner! LOL. Bloody Sibe, she got on top of the washing machine to get the food then shared some with the Lappie (who looked full but nowhere near as much!) Lesson learnt, even high cupboards aren't safe from sneaky Sibes!
  20. Hey guys. My husky got into a bag of puppy Royal Canin kibble today and has eaten about half a bag. My OH just rang me and said that she just wants water and her belly is huge. I've told him to only give her small amounts of water cos it'll cause the kibble to swell. He said she doesn't seem to be in pain. I've told him to keep an eye on her and if she appears in pain to get her to the vet. Apparently she's thrown up a bit of food and water. Anything else we should watch out for? This was a chicken based kibble and shes intolerant to chicken so I'm expecting lots of runs over the next few days!
  21. Agreed completely! And I cannot wait until the first Lappy Champ show in Vic next year :D :D :D :D WA, Your girl is doing so well You are planning to go to Vic aren't you so I can meet her in person? :p I can see so much of Louis in Anikka, hopefully she won't be one of those babies that wins big as a youngster and then does nothing when mature but if she keeps maturing as she is she will be lovely I definitely will be going to Vic, I wouldn't miss it! It's going to be amazing to have so many lappies in the same place and to finally meet dogs that we only see photos of. :D
  22. Thanks SparkyTansy. Yes it's been fantastic to see the number of lappies being recognised at group (and show) level this year, and as you said, group 5 is extremely competitive with some beautiful dogs. Congrats to you and Annika too, Mirawee, looks like she's going to be a superstar!
  23. It's so lovely to see all the rising stars for 2011 doing so well! Congrats on Lani's second Minor Puppy in Show, and well done on Rosie and Dante's titles. My little girl had a great day out yesterday, and she was shortlisted for Group and then awarded Best Junior in Group. So proud of her.
