  1. Doggy-friendly cafes are a brilliant idea, especially ones bordering on open parklands and dog beaches. It would add a new dimension to socialising, and I would imagine that there exists a very fertile market for well-run businesses.

Definitely. I would love to be able to take the dog for a walk along the beach, or to the dog off-leash park and then have a coffee afterward. I think it'd be great to meet with a few people, let the dogs have a play together and then have a drink together. As long as cafes are placed in the right areas, I reckon they'd do really well.

  2. the only place i would recommend is Urban Dog Training, they train at um, carina/carindale (not sure of area) on creek road

Thanks. I had a look at their website today and they look really good. Good to know that someone would recommend them

  3. I'm on the Southside now, but I'm not too fussed. My parents are at Eatons Hill and so I'm on the northside on a regular basis. Used to work in the Brendale Sports Complex nextdoor. Puppy will be a family pet (Not getting it until December-ish)

  4. As a member on another forum, I hear about my English friends outings with their dogs all the time. Always jealous of their pub/cafe trips with their dogs. It would be wonderful to be able to take the dogs for a walk and then have a nice cuppa somewhere.

  5. Hullo yes I'm another of the puppy-less  My partner and I are waiting for our backyard to be completed (it's currently just construction sand) next year before we get a pup. I'm set on a male Samoyed, with the name Zephyr in mind :D

We're currently trying to prepare our backyard too. Hoping to rip down one side of the fence in the next week or two. One side has completely rotted and we've just discovered that the only reason it's still standing is because the old owners tied bits of scrap metal to it to weigh it!

Hopefully we'll have our puppy around December/January. It's so hard waiting! We're getting an Akita puppy - OH wants a female. Trying to think of a good name, preferably something that will "go" with our two cats names - Mika and Oscar.

  6. Wow the post above me was a little bit harsh dont you think?

What's harsh about it ? it's the truth.

If you are not prepared to look after a dog and see to it's needs, don't get one.

Why would you purchase a baby puppy and put it out side in the winter and then want to know

how to stop it going on deck.

I'd say the fact that they are here asking for advice means that they are prepared to look after it. Can't expect that everyone knows the "best" way of doing things first up. I'm sure they're willing to hear advice and take it into consideration, but just because they're not doing things the "right" way as per your opinion, doesn't mean they're a bad owner.
