  1. Having seen others go through BB (as they were new to being dog owners), is that their training is corrective, so requires that the dog actually does the wrong behaviour first, in order to 'correct' it. I would much rather than my dog chooses a desired behaviour because that's what we have trained, and doesn't even attempt an undesired behaviour and then develop an anxiety about doing the wrong thing because it might get corrected.
  2. That's my birthday!!! :D oh man, I wish I had it in me to take on another dog much less handle an ESS! Alas no but off to FB to ogle some puppy spam...!
  3. oooh congrats!! were they born the 12th?? That's Panto's birthday! Sorry to hear of the little angels too.
  4. There's quality and there's also technique. If you don't vacuum everyday (or even if you do), if you do a quick pick up of the visible / larger items and hair, you're going to save your rotating powerheads a lot of grief, save them from jamming up and scratching your floors, and leave them actually do the work they're intended for (which is to kick up additional dust to be sucked up). Go over once without any rotating powerheads or wheels or brushes. Go over again with the powerhead. #BAM #winningatvaccum (I am totes a dog nerd with OCD tendencies...)
  5. This is a case of 'being told' to raise hope and appease you, vs, being able to read the facts for yourself. It doesn't make economic sense, having looked somewhat extensively into flying with Qantas recently or other flights, I haven't seen this (and I do read small print), nor have those I have spoken with, who have flown, confirmed this. Good luck and hope the dog is ok in this transaction.
  6. I've just seen this, I'm so sorry for your loss FM. What an innings, what a lucky girl. And you're never selfish, she has been so lucky to have you Run free Whitney
  7. Heartfelt condolences CGF, run free Loki
  8. Do you have non dog people friends whose opinions you could ask on what they would notice / not notice? I was just thinking something like 'No Dogs' is too ambiguous, ie it could just look like a 'no fear' logo type scenario. I think the vests saying 'give me space' are plain enough and you just need to remind people. The leash sleeve looks like the best option from the above choices.
  9. This sounds just like Panto. In hindsight I would medicate sooner rather than later based on my experience as her behaviours anchored and got progressively worse. Tempeh sounds like she is already beyond most of the controls already stated above. If you do medicate, I can't remember which one we used, but pls make sure it's not the one that just inhibits her faculties and she can still sense everything - it's what a vet started us on and it made things so much worse. I read somewhere also about it being static in the air and the suggestion was to try a fabric softener sheet (rub it over their fur). I am highly sceptical of this but have yet to try it.
  10. a Wonderful offer If it turns out too difficult an exercise for it to be rehomed to a rescue group, perhaps the proceeds from a private sale can be donated to the rescue. There are many wonderful rescue organisations that visit here, hopefully one of them might be able to use it
  11. I think it's a good thing people feel like they can bring their true DOL-self to the public arena. I don't post outside of OT all that much because that isn't me, but when I joined, it was all those personalities that kept me coming back long enough to find out when this magical OT appeared.

  14. Maddy! You're confusing hippies and yuppies! They hate each other! And don't forget hipsters. They're more like hippies with the disposable income of a yuppie and want to make expensive shit look old! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Even buying in larger portions from your usual sources is cheaper or making up your own mix. RE the prime100 rolls, if you're using as training treats and training you definitely deduct that weight from the daily feed. A high quality kibble I don't think is any cheaper butcould be more convenient.
  16. Likewise, it's possible to have prosthetic testicles put in for appearances...
  17. Reinforcers is great but also consider teaching her desired behaviours, where you want her to be, behaviours that are favoured. If the focus is on what not to do, then that's what they'll worry about but if they can focus confidently on 'oh this is what my human wants of me', then they're more likely to behave proactively and confidently. Request those behaviours then throw a party of praise when she does it!
  18. Investing in freezer space, preparing in bulk amounts, you're probably better off. Prime 100 makes great training treats but I consider it a bit of a 'junk food' option for mine.
  19. It's definitely not a mix up between the front desk billing and the vet itself? have you questioned it or talked to them about it?
  20. City and looks the same amount we pay too. I think you just got lucky on your previous vet.
  21. restrict his access to the areas of concern when you cannot supervise, it is safer and better peace of mind for you both.
  22. Oh wow, I had no idea it could be that bad. Actually yes I did but not somewhere like hanrob. I have used a 'boutique' doggy daycare before and I suspected similar but that was just a day board. What a croc. They shut down not long after...
  23. omg I am absolutely gobsmacked! Thanks for the frank response. I've a friend who sends her 2 dogs there when they go away, the younger one has developed some social issues and it was around the time they had left them there. :/
  24. Interesting! What other insider knowledge can you share?! Almost sounded like she could have written it herself with all that lingo! Seen plenty try go undercover for free market research. oops! The friend that feeds pro plan, is that what they use? What's your dog's name and where did you get it from? What are you currently feeding while you're researching? How active is she? don't forget your photo!!
  25. You sound well more researched than most posters asking about pet food already! Do you work in the pet industy?? Surprised you haven't heard of Meals for mutts but already knew about the TRPC acquisition! What's the basis about the Purina suggestion? Is that grocery or specialty? Please post a photo of your new baby, we love photos!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
