  1. Yaye! Thank you everyone!!! Glad to know its normal! The lounge has a polar fleece on it thank goodness!!!!
  2. Chester is 4 and a bit months old and I noticed today he has a small amount of fluro yellowy green pus like discharge stuck on the fluff of his penis. About 6 weeks ago I noticed the same thing, and was going to take him to a vet, but the next day it was gone... until today and its back again. He is healthy and fine otherwise. Any idea what it could be? He only licks it when he has urinated or about to lie down for a sleep. Hmm...
  3. Now I've found sentinel spectrum cheap too! Which is better I wonder?
  4. Hi guys, I need to buy Chester some comfortis, and ebay seems to be the cheapest! Has anyone had a bad experience buying flea stuff off ebay? I'm not sure if there may be problems with some being sold that aren't genuine or anything, like with other products! Thanks heaps!
  5. He is fine now Our eldest girl stands near him while he eats and pats him and he is absolutely fine! When he has a bone, we can walk up to him, tell him to drop it, and we can pick it up with no problems! The only thing is that he won't let the cat near his food LOL!!
  6. Found this and had to share it I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them. As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one. I rescued a human today.
  7. We have two 42" crates off eBay, and they are great, not flimsy st all! We have a clothes basket overfilled with clothes on one and it hasn't even bent the wire on top LOL
  8. Chester is 12 weeks old now, and I would say he is 95% toilet trained. He has had one accident inside in the last 10 days, and that was my partner's fault for not taking him out in the morning after he came out of his crate. So he hadn't been outside for 9-10 hours, so yes, my partner's fault!!! He sleeps all night, but he did that from his second week with us. He won't make a noise until we get up (10:30pm bed, 7-8:00am wake), and then once we get up he starts his wincing noises!! He sits at the door, and stares at it when he needs to go out now, which is great!! Not bad for 12 weeks old!! I was expecting this to take us months!!!
  9. He had his second vaccination exactly one week ago! Not a grain of rice size.. Definitely M+M size, tiny bit bigger. It does seem to be the same spot where he had the needle. Hmm... Will keep an eye on it and take him to the vet if it gets bigger Thank you!
  10. I found a lump on the back of Chester's neck, sort of between his shoulder blades, closer to the left hand side, and it's about the size of an M&M. I've never noticed it before! It's sort of moveable. Would this be his microchip? Or where his last vaccination was?
  11. I don't see the point in the post. You say that you think its unfair as you paid so much for the dog, yet in an old post you said money doesn't mean anything to you, it's the welfare of the dog that matters...
  12. So it just occurred to me that all our cement stairs might be bad for Chester's hip development. We have 15 stairs from the back door to the back yard, and then another 6 down to the driveway. Out the front we have 9 up to the footpath and 12 down to the backyard from the front. How would these affect Chester, if at all? Does anyone know? Also, our floors are all wooden, the only carpeting is a mat in the lounge. Would this hurt him? Thank you!!
  13. At the moment, I am a stay at home mum to two little girls, and my partner has had induction for a job with a local cheese factory that is expecting a few million dollar upgrade soon, and he is on their payroll, but has to wait up to a few months before he starts work there. As such, we are both currently on centrelink, with the odd day or two of work (my partner is also on call for a local bottled water factory, but gets maybe 1-2 days a fortnight). We don't have much in the way of savings, but all our bills get paid, have no debt, we currently rent a 3 bedroom house, and have top car and house contents insurance, no health insurance as we have a health care card (will get health insurance when we can afford to), and we want to get Chester insured. His free 6 week plan runs out on September 20, and we were thinking of putting him onto their budget plan, which is $40.95 a month (we would have to pay monthly). QUESTION is, if we start him on the budget plan, when we can afford to, ie, when my partner starts his new job, would they let us raise the cover to the standard plan? Would they do this straight away, or would we have to wait until the policy came up for renewal? Does anyone know? Also, if it continues on from his breeder free 6 weeks plan, does he have the waiting period of 21 days for illness or injury? Or does that get waived? Thank you!!!
  14. Tonight was Chester's first night at puppy school! He did so well and got so many comments on his cuteness and how relaxed he was, made us proud We also got to see a super cute german sheperd pup, he was so gorgeous!! There were also two kelpies, a staffy, a cav and a rottweiler. The lady running it has five dogs, and the one she took tonight was a boxer who was so relaxed and well behaved, I hope Chester grows into a lovely dog like her So thank you everyone for recommending obedience classes for us We enjoyed it very much!!
  15. The vet approves the black hawk adult, and others have recommended it as he is a large breed pup and there is less fat in it than the puppy version. It also has instructions on how to change the amounts for puppies, so it's not too different than the puppy form of the same brand
  16. Comfortis is for fleas for puppies and dogs from 14 weeks, hence why we had to use an advantage as he is only 11 weeks. Won't be using any more advantage from now on. We just followed on from what the breeder said to do with his weight, and his ribs show a lot when he lays down on his back, and we can feel them all easily when he is standing. He gets at the moment, 1.5cups of black hawk adult a day, half a tin of sardines, every second day or so a chicken frame, sometimes an egg, sometimes small amounts of cheese and kabana for training treats. Oh, and a spoon of yoghurt. We completely cut out his two big milk drinks the breeder said to give him.. I'd hate to see how big he would be if he still had those!! Will definitely try and cut his food back!! It's hard to get everything perfect with your first dog lol, so much advice, so little time!! Thank you everyone
  17. We got the flea treatment as the inlaws have a lot of feral cats hanging out the back, and as such their three small white fluffies constantly have fleas, and as she is a lover of flea powder, and nothing we say will change her mind, we decided to give him the flea treatment so we can take him around there with us, as we don't know anyone else with dogs he can play with. So we asked the vet for it. I am also highly sensitive to flea bites and get massive welts, so would definitely try anything we can to lessen the chance of bringing fleas into our home!!
