  1. I have an 11 month old Newfie and due to a combination of his extreme dislike to be brushed and me recently being very ill his grooming has been let go a little and now has a few matted patches, is my only option to clip these or cut them out?
  2. Just wondering if any one can offer any advice, I have a 7 month old Newfoundland who I just cant seem to stop jumping, he is quite good at not jumping on me but anybody else doesn't stand a chance!! And a bounding Newfoundland running and jumping over people can be quite daunting to most
  3. I just recently paid around that amount for our puppy, and that was pretty much the standard price for the breed
  4. What suprised me most is that dogs must be registered from 3 months of age... surely it is not suitable for all breeds at this age
  5. Yes I am in one of these councils, can only register an entire dog if VCA registered Not saying that is a bad thing. But how does that work for BYB and Cross-Breeders and people who own and breed rare breeds that aren't currently recognised by the VCA? Or is there some kind of exemption for them I find it intriguing. No exemptions that I'm aware of, my guess is that there is probably alot of unregistered dogs in our area
  6. Off topic Gayle but wondering if I may know you, have you always been in Toongabbie...I'm from Cowwarr

  8. Spoke to the breeder today, papers are on their way!! SILLY ME!!! he is VCA registered so should have no problems, thanks everyone for your input!!
  9. Yes I did see that, so am guessing to do that I need to register him with VCA or similar... Anybody know do I need papers to do this Give your breeder a call and find out if there are papers on the way (they should be giving you papers if they're a registered breeder). Otherwise the only way to put them on the VCA is as an associate, and they need to be desexed for that. My assumption would have been that I would have gotten papers too..I think I had better contact the breeder

  11. Hmm I think I should give the council a call then to see if there is provision to pay extra to register him entire. Thanks!!
  12. Yeah I think I am going to have to call the breeder, I dont have papers for him which I assume means he is not registered... Just checked council site and it states all dogs over 3 months must be registered...NO WAY am I desexing a 12 week old Newfoundland
  13. I am in Victoria under Latrobe City Shire, which states that all dogs and cats must be micro-chipped and desexed before being registered
  14. Hi all, have done a few searches but really cant seem to find any answers to this one!! Hoping someone can help me... I have a 12 week old Newfoundland, he is micro-chipped and now needs to be registered with my local council, however I can not register him until he is desexed, on the breeders advice (and my own reserach) I agreed not to desex until 12 months of age... I did wonder if he is registered with the vic canine association does this then exempt me from having to desex for council registration?? but do I need papers to register with VCA??? any ideas??
  15. Hi all, probably a really stupid question, do I bath my my puppy in cool or warm water, as I have a newf puppy I'm guessing probably cool???
  16. Our breeder recommended adding water to our puppies food- just enough to make it float, this is not to soften but to reduce the risk of bloat, she told us that the puppy will be less likely to gulp at water too quickly after eating by doing this
  17. I have an almost 11 week newf puppy, who until last night was sleeping on my bed, last night he stood on the end of the bed barking. I took him out four times to toilet with each time needing to entice him to come inside, the fourth time he walked out and layed down to sleep so I let him stay out. Tonight he has done the same thing, is it wrong to let him stay out all night at this age
  18. I just couldn't believe that someone would take in a puppy, have it sent all that way, and then give up after 12 hours!! I think that puppy will be much better off with someone else
  19. Hi all, just wanted to post this as I was absolutely stunned when I heard this... we picked up our newf puppy almost 2 weeks ago and yesterday dropped in to visit the breeder, she sent one of my pups litter sibling interstate on Monday and by Tuesday the new owner (after having the pup for 12 hours) was on the phone to her and is sending the pup back because she can't deal with the pups crying!!!! Anybody else as stunned as me!!!
  20. Been thinking of you. You must be getting so excited now I am getting really excited! Not long to go! How is your bear doing? He is doing very well, feel like I am not feeding him enough but am sticking to Vickis recommendations, I have decided to purchase his food thru Vicki and am going to take Baxter with me each time as I think it will put my mind at ease if there is ever anything I am concerned about if she sees him
