  1. If Kintala seems like a bad choice for a Husky (Off-leash at a park), then could anyone suggest another great puppy school with focus on socialization that is in an enclosed area. Please nothing more than a 20 minute drive from South Morang. Also, classes have to be late evening classes or weekend classes
  2. Not many people went to Kintala then... I expect too much of this forum
  3. If anyone has experienced Kintala Puppy School in Heidelberg, could they please reply to my thread linked below. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/225095-kintala-puppy-school-anyone-been-there/ Thank you
  4. Well my Siberian Husky pup is 8 weeks old and he's had his first vaccination (C3) so I think it's time to enrol him in a puppy school. The local vet suggested Kintala Puppy School and I was wondering if anyone had been there with their puppy and experienced it. Also, a big question: Is Warringal Parklands in Heidelberg (where they hold the puppy classes) a fenced-off area? There is off-leash training at Kintala and I'm worried about him running off. He does come when you call him but he hasn't got the greatest recall
  5. Thanks, he already learnt some simple commands like sit, down and stand. He became house-trained quite fast too. I'll be sure to keep researching ;) Biting is something I'll have to work really hard on with him though
  6. We went to the vet today... The vet says that he is a little heavy, but he isn't overweight. However, he's 7 weeks old and he's at 6.8kg now
  7. What would you guys say the best method for teaching the dog to stop biting is? A simple "NO!"? walking away? or something else?
  8. You sure that's safe? If it is, then off to Bunnings tomorrow
  9. Just been reading through the second link - is he serious? I can't believe anyone can do all the things he suggests You mean the socializing the puppy with 100 different people before 3 months? Nah, easy to achieve. *sarcasm* We did that We just hung out in front of Bunnings. In fifteen minutes, more than a hundred people passed us by and a lot stopped for cuddles. We did that a few times a week and he loves his people now! I'd definitely do that, but I'd have to wait until he's had all of his main vaccinations Although, standing infront of Bunnings is pure genius!

  11. I was going to get him to stop biting, only to mouth, and then stop mouthing completely over time. Or should I just go straight out into no biting/mouthing at all?
  12. The thread's kinda gone off-topic, but this matter is more important. So the 2 most important things I should focus on for Archie is Bite Inhibition and socialization, right? Anything else that is really important that I should be aware of? Any tips?
  13. Thanks for the help guys I've been reading about taking care of young pups for a while now.
  14. We got to view his mother. She seemed more like a male-sized husky compared to other huskies I've seen. However we didn't get to see the father.
