  1. What do my dogs eat? I have pugs. That's really all I need to say on the subject
  2. I didn't want to open this thread when I saw you had posted, just in case of this news. So sorry
  3. On the other hand, I'm scared of thunder and lightning and my dogs aren't at all bothered by it!
  4. Google bought up this: http://www.agilitynsw.com.au/page_57.html Auslink is a postal novelty series using ANKC Trials rules with the following exceptions: Competitors will only negotiate the course once, if competing at more than one club only the first course run will count. Date Course run to be shown on result score sheet. A responsible club member may do the primary judging. With a relief judge taking over, if the primary Judge also wishes to participate. Timing to be done by a timing steward not the (course judge). Auslink courses are to be designed as a twenty obstacle course. The course set is to be of a standard equivalent to that of the Open Class consequently, it will be mandatory to include the Weaving Poles in a Jumping course. The Auslink course will be differentiated from a normal Open Course in that there will be no Distance Handling Challenge in the course.
  5. Oh, maybe it was Kajtek not Remarkabull. It was someone with a Bulldog/Bosdog avatar. Don't rely on me to remember things correctly :p
  6. Someone on DOL has Bosdogs, I think it's Remarkabull - she's in the NT but can probably point you in the right direction for someone closer to home.
  7. One of my pugs will walk into a room and randomly be mortal enemies with one of his toys. Any toy, and even one he was playing with earlier. But he'll bark and growl and refuse to walk past it and if I pick it up to show him, he'll jump backwards or run away. It's kind of funny because it's so random, and then a while later he'll be besties with it like nothing ever happened!
  8. That's what I don't get about it. People constantly coming up to ask what it is, when the whole point is to keep people away.
  9. Anyone who doesn't love the yellow ribbon idea gets weird looks and given a wide berth. You get used to it ;)
  10. Perfect sense, DC. In fact, given that we are weakening immune systems by an overload of vaccine, the Insurance Companies should be embracing the idea of and accepting titres with open arms. What would be the likely expense of treatment for CC though? What I mean by the above is that there is no treatment for CC itself. That's a matter of letting it run its course. But if it was to develop to secondary infection, I could imagine the cost of a vet visit and antibiotic. Under my insurance plan, I have to pay for the first $100 anyway. So, if it is brought down only to cost and the exclusion of whether we are doing the right thing by administering vaccines unnecessarily, is there really any benefit to vaccinating for CC (which would involve a Vet consult fee and out-of-pockets for the vaccine) for the sake of maintaining insurance cover? Plus Kennel Cough vaccine doesn't cover all strains (not even a third of strains, from memory), so they can still get it. If they aren't of an age or type of breed when KC is likely to cause massive issues or be fatal, it's pretty pointless.
  11. Who are you with? I couldn't find any that would cover vaccinatable illnesses with a titre test.
  12. I use a sporn on my freight train pug, and it's got sheepskin under the arms so doesn't rub or cause any issues and unless she's pulling it's loose anyway. I don't have the one with the collar, but the mesh front. Depends on what you want to do as well, as they have different 'responses'. The front attach will spin them around when they pull, and with the sporn you can deliver a correction.
  13. Since we were just talking about manic Max and these hilarious photos in another thread, and I don't have time to update with new photos right now, I'll leave you with a short video of Max being Max. You need to have your sound turned on, because visually there isn't much to see. I was innocently taking some video of the pugs playing and being cute, when suddenly Max swooped in and ran off with the GoPro in her mouth while it was recording I let her go, just to see what the video would be like, and it's funny. I edited to to make it shorter, but watching the full video I can see her in the background playing and eyeing it off, plotting how she's going to get to it before she actually runs in and takes it, so it was pre-meditated even though it looked totally spur of the moment  "I got eaten by a pug"
  14. That's what I'd hope too, but I worry insurance companies will be insurance companies and find a reason to not cover things. I know when I rang to ask about titre testing (without giving any of my policy details etc), when I finally got onto someone who understood the words "titre testing" they were very suspicious about why I would want to do that and not vaccinate and spoke to me like I was a 2 year old with "obviously anything relating to an illness than can be vaccinated again will not be covered", so I just worry that a dog has a chest infection, they decided to call it kennel cough, won't cover it, etc Sorry, OT. Just me being overly cynical :p But a lot of people don't realise pet insurance doesn't cover titre testing illlnesses like it does vaccinations.
  15. People also have to be aware that when titre testing, pet insurance companies won't cover for anything that "can be vaccinated against", and titre testing isn't considered adequate. So if you do get an illness that could have been vaccinated against, they won't cover you. I worry about this being exploited if my insurance company realise I titre test instead of vaccinating, and they might start saying certain illnesses were caused by lack of vaccinated cover etc
  16. Why would he get sick if he got wet? He's going to have to get used to rain and going to the bathroom in it, it's a fact of life!
  17. Took my guys out for the usual Saturday morning cafe bones trip this morning, Max played in the puddles and Boston looked on in horror at the thought of getting wet feet
  18. I hope so :) I posted a similar comment about the shelter I support jacking their prices up a few weeks ago (can't find the link just at the moment). I Notice they seem to have put the prices back down (they went from 415 for an older dog, to 615 for cuter, younger or otherwise apparently more "valuable" dogs). I just don't get it - I could never justify spending 1000 on a PET. It's not a question of mixed breed, rescue or any other - for me if I was forking over $1000 it would be with proven bloodlines for showing, breeding or working (or combination of above). My pets were well over $1k. They are desexed, not shown and not working dogs. They are pets. I wouldn't pay that for a dog of unknown history or parentage though.
  19. They've been talking about this rain for so long it better actually happen  There are a few dog Parks with cafes, if people don't mind travelling, for next time. Sydney Park in Petersham is good.
  20. Doubt you'd get a desexed puppy from a byb for that price.
  21. Hopefully we can do it another weekend as well. I'm going to suggest somewhere with coffee for next time
  22. I'd prefer a "keep your dog to yourself at all times" approach. People shouldnt need to wear a ribbon to say leave me alone, it should be a given and people educated on that.
  23. I turned "shake" into "high five" pretty easily, which is cute. Spin is also pretty easy and gets lots of applause. At 13.5 weeks half an hours training is a lot in one go, you might get more out of him by breaking it down into much much smaller bits of time.
  24. Is an actual qualified trainer taking the class? I'd be finding a new one, or at least moving to a corner of the room away from the other dogs if you have to stay there.
