  1. That's great, I'd be more impressed if her bed was fullof huge hunting mixes and brindle staffy types though. But seriously I think the sexualisation of rescue is stupid but PETA always stupid.
  2. Cootamundra and Gundagai pounds will need them this year as last year we had the destructo dogs in that made short work of a lot of them. Please pm me for addres sif there are any still available.
  3. White cat now has a home just looking for a home for the torti and black and white.
  4. Thanks, Caz. I've given her the basics but she needs them gone ASAP. have linked her to the sites mentioned here
  5. I won't share too much but my aunty is in a real situation. Her grandson was living with her and collected an array of animals and then moved out leaving her with the animals which he has no intention of ever collecting. The real estate has found out and has threatened to evict her if 3 cats and 2 snakes cannot be found homes. My aunty has no idea of how to deal with snakes. Her grandson had a valid reptile keepers license but she doesn't so it's also illegal for her to keep them. One is a Murray Carpet about 6ft and the other is a Jungle Carpet about the same size (sexes unknown). They come with a double story enclosure with fitted UV and heat lights as well as hide boxes. They must go to a licensed home. Both snakes are easy to handle and don't bite. Murray Darling Python Jungle Python The other animals are 3 young cats. All desexed, chipped and vaccinated. The cats are all friendly and affectionate. Yoda is a white male with blue eyes (not deaf) 2 years Spatz is a black and white male 2 years Georgina is a torti and white female 9 months. If anyone can help or network to find these animals homes and help my Aunty out please do. She's such a lovely woman and doesn't deserve to be dealt this crappy card. This is a very urgent situation.
  6. You're best off to use your instinct. I've been told to stand still and avoid eye contact and remain calm but when it happened to me I saw the dog coming and thought shit so yelled and stamped my feet like a psycho and it hightailed it back home. Glad to hear you used yours as well. Each situation is unique. Glad to hear it ended peacefully.
  7. I think they recognize their own breed. There could be a large group of dogs at the park and in between one miniature schnauzer. My two will flush the schnauzer out and socialise with it before doing so with any of the others. I honestly think they are attracted to dogs with similar energy levels to play with. Making their own breed more approachable from that aspect.
  8. I had one lady tell me that there's no such thing as Maremmas and Ammo was a golden retriever cross Samoyed and I had been lied to. She would not hear the truth. Odd woman.
  9. I had an idiot ask me if I owned the Horse Puppy for fighting. She was serious too. Apparently fighting dogs have hot pink nail polish and polka dot flower collars these days.
  10. Hi Logan, I would either contact a rescue organisation that can fit you with the right dog for your situation or a breeder of the type of dog breeds you're looking at and discuss it with them. Every dog in a breed is an individual and can deal with different lifestyles. I have a kelpie here that is 90% catatonic and another that is off the level energetic. A good reputable rescue or a good registered breeder that knows their breed and their dogs will be able to match you with exactly what you're looking for. So make a list of dog breeds and/or types that you like and seek out reputable rescues and breeders with those types and breeds. I wish you luck.
  11. @Rebanne, Would there be a difference in state legislation? Would the greenhound people be correct in NSW but not in Vic or is it the same everywhere?
  12. I completely trust and respect Nekhbet's integrity on this matter.
  13. Saying this as an impartial observer..but wouldn't it be great if one rescue thread didn't end in a war?
  14. What's one more?! Haha. ;) (That's the attitude that makes OH give me the evil eye these days) That's how I ended up with so many
  15. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are large dogs. Weren't you looking at that in the other thread?
  16. If you pass by, let me know as I'd love to met your dogs! (and you of course)
  17. Cootamundra is dog friendly, we don't have any off leash places but every park allows dogs and there are some great places for coffee. Also Jugiong is just off the Hume a great cafe and plenty of open space right next to the river.
  18. Once people realise that the dilute genes can carry alopecia I'm sure it will die down again. But we're going to have a lot of sparsely coated dogs in the interim.
