  1. I would contact people like Nekhbet and K9Pro. That work with these types of dogs.
  2. Because having registered breeders has really stopped people from breeding unregistered dogs...
  3. Yeah that head isn't even close to a dogue-type head.
  4. I'm pretty sure the breed standard only accepts varying shades of red/fawn with or without darker muzzles. That pup doesn't look pure dogue anyway ETA; here's the breed standard. go down to colours and it says varying dhades of fawn to mahogany. It won't let me copy and paste http://www.cornerstoneddb.com/standard.html
  5. I have worked at a few vets who would call owners of notorious escape artists and just return them. I thought this was not on as it was not teaching the owners anything and putting the dog at risk. Every time I was on I would call the council straight away, after the 2nd time they suddenly decided to fix the fence and voila the dog doesn't get out anymore. ETA: Some vets can be approved and keep dogs for up to 3 days but I think they still need to notify council they have the dog
  6. The shelter where I worked often shipped hound dogs west and north where they were less popular. probably a good 60% of inmates were hound dogs. I would think the responsible way to do it would be to health and temp check them where they are originally and only transport the ones that prove suitable for rehoming. If its done that way I think it's a good idea. That's what was done. I believe the ones that were approved were also vaccinated before transport.

  8. I used to walk my neighbors dogs for money, i walked a gsd and a bull mastiff and quit a few large mixbreeds when I was 11 until 15. It was a small country town and i loved doing it. they gave me $10 an hour. I also used to sell rocks from door to door to make money. I made $27 in one week selling people pretty rocks. It's sad how the world has changed but at the same time i understand the concern.
  9. Was that you that made that facebook page?
  10. They sound like they need to go to a vet and get proper veterinary care.
  11. I pm'd you KC, I'm happy to meet you halfway next week
  12. This is really upsetting, please no judgement as I have tried everything but the neighbours keep on getting more cats and nothing is working. Due to the fact that cats have started terrorizing my guinea pigs at night and I have no where to keep them safe (as I have a cat and dogs inside) I am looking for a responsible rescue for them. These guinea pigs cannot be bred as they are over 9 months and have never had babies so their pelvises are fused. They used to be quite friendly but since the cats they have become very skittish. One is a tri colour purebred sheltie female 1 year and 9 months and the other is a self gold female 1year. Thanks in advance
  13. I think the dane pup looks a good weight. Dane pups shouldn't be too heavy as it puts pressure on their joints as they grow. I just hope it grows properly and isn't used to breed. Oh mup I thought he would of needed a bit more weight on him cause I noticed his hips a bit but I have never owned a giant so what you say makes perfect sense . You wouldn't want them too heavy then. I certainly would worry about anything with a Heart beat in her " care"..... I have a friend that owns a fair few giant breed dogs and pups (2 different breeds danes nad saints) and she has to keep them quite lean as they grow so their joints don't stress. I could never own a giant breed just for the fact that i love hugging fat puppies
  14. Horse gumnuts = like dog dry food I think. Compressed processed food out of a big bag. Good for them mostly, if there's no green feed around. But I don't have much experience in these matters. Gumnuts are specifically made for older horses. I used them for my old girl I had. She was on paddock as well as hard feed, it just gives them the extra they need. My dogs would steal some fromt he bucket from time to time but I certainly wouldn't suggest they eat them as a staple!
  15. Is it chipped? Any way to get in touch with the old owners? If you can find out when it was chipped, you can then get in touch with the BS club and find out what litters were born that year and to which breeders and then contact the breeders individually with the dog's chip details, normally breeders keep chip details on hand of past puppies.

  17. Thanks for clarifying, Lynn, such a shame this woman is trying to associate herself with good, hard-working rescues to get credibility makes me sick.
  18. I worry about the risk of sarcoptic mange with that fox near the dogs as well.
  19. So this pleb runs South Coast Animal Rescue Inc? No, I think she's on friendly terms with them the more I'm reading I think someone who knows SCAR should let them know asap.
  20. I got sent this link. Interesting reading https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?id=234670036567123&story_fbid=532295433471247
  21. That's probably true, but looking at those photos, that's a load of animals to look after, I mean 5 dogs is heaps on it's own, let alone all the others. , I'm thinking just feeding all of them would take hours, let alone cleaning up after them, brushing/grooming, training/walking/playing. Some people love that lifestyle and as long as the animals are all taken care of properly and live in good conditions then it's each to their own. It's when the animals suffer due to the person having more than they can handle that things go down hill fast.
  22. Yeah,we have quite a few animals. it's when you can't financially support them properly as well as run a clean set up that you enter into hoarding territory.
  23. I doubt she knows how to raise it properly, giant breeds aren't easy to grow and given it was a 'rescue' and she's not accepting the $1,000 I offered her makes me think she see's future profit in the dog. Harle pups can sell for $3,500 registered and $2,500 BYB. I know. I just hope she's not accepting it because she wants to keep it as a pet. I know I'm dreaming but hope against hope.
