  1. I feel awful for her but it’s getting quite stressful its made harder with the fact that the person I live with is hearing impaired so when I’m out or at work he doesn’t hear her so often he will find a lovely parcel on the carpet. I have ordered a gate to put across the hallway as the bedroom end has slate floors so if we don’t hear her doing it doing it on the slate floors is a better option... I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea but I have to try ways of minimising clean ups on the carpet.. being a rental too I don’t want to ruin the carpet.
  2. Hi, Sasha is now 15 and lately she has been doing accidents inside... a lot of them have been quite sloppy. I have been trying to make sure to check if she wants to go out because sometimes she will do it while walking so i have to be super fast. What I want to know is , is having sloppy poos another sign of old age ? Her diet hasn’t changed, she is eating the exact same thing she always has but now it’s a bit hit and miss whether it will be normal or not. My last 2 dogs were 17 but they lived with my ex and all he said was that they were incontinent so I have no experience with an older dog. Thank god I have a carpet cleaner... it’s getting a real workout ! I have discussed my worries with my Vet but he just says “ leave her be she is old” which isn’t helpful... I know it’s not her fault and I never make her feel bad , it’s just I want to know if it’s normal. Edit: I didn’t post in the aged care forum as no one has posted in there for a few months.
  3. Thanks for the info I think he is wanting a puppy... his last Husky was 18 months old rehomed from a breeder so he has never had a puppy of his own before.
  4. My housemate wants to get a Siberian Husky... he had one and she passed away at 12 years of age of liver failure, at the time he said he would never own another dog... That was 13 years ago and it’s only now he has been making plans on buying another one. We have looked around and yes prices have tripled since he bought her but that’s to be expected.. so now he knows he is going to be saving up if he wants to get one.
  5. I dont know of any Amstaff groups in the Northern Suburbs... the experiences I have had with dog parks have put me off going near one.
  6. My dogs know how to eat off a spoon although Lacey my Cav has a harder time because of her small mouth.
  7. I’m so sorry ... R.I.P Bruce.
  8. Ooh I like the bird ones.. thanks Sorry LMO for taking over your thread x
  9. I have drapes that go across the sliding door which I usually have closed , it’s when we forget to shut the drapes she doesn’t realise the door is shut.. so we have to make sure the drapes are closed. The last time she had a check up the Vet did say that she had a little bit of cataract in one of her eyes , at that stage she wasn’t showing signs of not being able to see , but now I suspect she has it in both eyes. She made me laugh today ... she had one of her puppy zoomie moments that had me in hysterics she was running around and play bowing , now she is tuckered out on my bed lol.
  10. How is Tamar doing today ? I hope she is feeling ok. My Sasha I suspect is almost blind twice this week she has smacked into the glass sliding door thinking it was open... I am starting to think she is starting on the downhill Once I can be with her at the vet I will see how bad her sight is.. although there isn’t much I can do except to make sure things aren’t in her way.
  11. I’m so sorry this has happened... it must be very distressing for both yourself and Tamar. I have to agree with Rebanne and Pers... let her go with love x
  12. Every puppy is different ... my dog was really easy to toilet train , she has been from 12 weeks old. She has never been a digger, chewer or had any trouble sleeping through the night. I think though that she has set me up for failure in my next puppy
  13. Oh no not Zephyr I’m so sorry x Have a safe journey over the
  14. Awww that photo of your grandson? gets me in the feels Im so sorry for your loss
  15. Lol it’s become a tradition and they love having a sniff to see which one they like
  16. It comes down to being a responsible dog owner.... some are fantastic at it and some shouldn’t own a dog. i never go anywhere without poo bags.. i have them stashed in my car, coat pockets and I carry a bottle of water in case they do a sloppy ploppy so I can wash away what I can’t pick up, or they decide to wee on the footpath i have taken my dogs to Petstock on their birthday so they can pick out a toy they like but they are always leashed and watched like a hawk... because as you know those dog treats smell so delicious The other week Sasha was at the vet for a check up and I looked away for a split second and she pooped on the floor.. I was mortified to say the least and apologised but they were good about it though.
  17. My current dogs have never rolled in anything thank goodness , but my previous dog escaped to my neighbours garden and rolled in liquid fertiliser. Omg the stench was horrendous and it took 3-4 baths before he was passable enough to be able to come inside.
  18. Sandgrubber you are in NZ ? If so it’s quite possibly possums... they are a pest over there.
  19. I have recently started feeding my oldie the NG tinned and she loves it ! She is getting fussy in her old age so i am happy for her to eat something she loves.
  20. When Sasha was a lot younger she was a puller so I used a sporn harness , now she is 14 and walks at a much slower pace I use a flat collar. She still loves her daily walk and will get excited as we leave the house so will pull, but not for long.
  21. My Kelpie had one on her face and like your Cav , she would rub it and it would bleed and get scabby so we talked to the Vet, and even though it was harmless we wanted it removed. Oh and she is nearly 14 ... we just had to get blood tests done before surgery... it was actually delayed 6 months because her bloods showed a problem with her liver. ‘I think as long as your Cav gets a clean bill of health then I can’t see why they wouldn’t do it.
  22. Not sure whether it happens in Perth but here in SA certain vets can set up a payment plan or go to Centrelink and set one up there. For the future get a pet tooth brush and toothpaste and brush their teeth daily.. you can buy them at the Vet. Its a bit strange for the dog at first but the toothpaste is flavoured ... my dogs love having their teeth brushed, it’s a treat for them Cant help you but maybe ring around and see what you come up with.
  23. I’m not a fan of dogs being out the front .. as Rebanne says, it can create problems. I had to change my dog walking route because owners had their dog/s out the front launching themselves at the fence. Their mentality was because their dogs were behind a fence they were harmless :/ Yay for getting a new puppy ! How exciting
  24. My personal opinion ...... no they aren’t worth the risk , not after my dog was attacked twice on two seperate occasions. People think that because it’s a fenced off dog area , that gives them permission to socialise with other dog owners and ignore the fact that their dog is being aggressive towards another dog. And when it’s pointed out that their dog needs to be under effective control they couldn’t have cared less.
  25. I’m so sorry T . Safe travels over the bridge darling girl xo
