  1. 4-Paws Premium Dog Snacks my girls love them and Katie the person who makes them is awesome. http://www.4pawspremiumdoggiesnacks.com/
  2. Papers will normally arrive some time after the puppy. With my two - one lot was sent directly from the interstate canine association, the second came from the breeder. You may or may not have input into a pedigree name. You will normally have to sign something/fill something in so they can be placed in your name - the exact process seems to be different depending on which canine association you are dealing with. Other than that the only time you need/will require papers is if your intending on competing in dog sports or showing.
  3. Yep Eza - they no longer hold a dog show in conjunction with it. It is a bit of a waste of money - not a huge amount of dog stands and not especially exciting. I never get a chance to venture into the other pavilions mind you because I normally have a dog with me. Not sure if I will have a dog in the DWD demo this year. Been a little to slack with my baby dog LOL.
  4. Yep that would be the Animal and Lifestyle Expo at the showgrounds - normally held March/April ish - definitely not the same these days.
  5. They also use to have a dog show in conjunction with the Pet and Animal Expo at Wayville showgrounds. They have a few other expos - the dog side of things is not as big as it use to be now though.
  6. Lira was only 8 weeks when she came home. She didn't waste away to nothing as a baby and certainly survived fine.
  7. Depending how long your away for swain I don't normally stress with a puppy. If you feed them when you first get up, leave them with stuffed chew toys, feed when you get home and then feed again at bedtime you probably don't even need to worry about a timer. My girl would often leave her chew toys in her pen until I got home anyway.
  8. I had 4 bits of turf which I did hose down, disinfect and exchange daily. I had a combination of puppy pee pads and actually those padded drain dish mats (they were like 2 for $4 or something at a cheap store) underneath the turf. Worked fine for me and I washed the mats daily to. Stopped anything leaking much onto the slate. I also disinfected the area daily.
  9. My puppy was penned for a standard work day until she was 6 months. She was a summer puppy so there is no way I wanted her outside in the elements. I set up some artificial turf in in her pen so she had access to that while I was at work. The pen was set up in a slated area of the house. When I was home the turf square was removed from her pen and she was supervised as you would when you house train a puppy otherwise. I wouldn't say she was any harder to toilet train and eventually it reached the point where she wouldn't use the grass unless she really needed to. I had a similar set up when she was in season at 8.5 months so she had run of an area of the house with some artificial grass placed out on the upstairs balcony and no issues with inappropriate toileting after her season.
  10. My puppy was flown so I did opt to purchase a puppy sized crate. The price of the crate was relatively small. In my case though it was also a matter of convenience as the puppy crate took up a lot less room in the bedroom then a full size adult crate would.
  11. Definitely a webmaster harness over the DT harness if your harness inclined. The school of thought by some of the vets is that straps across a dogs chest can restrict range of motion and cause problems. The webmaster on the other hand gives full range of motion.
  12. My latest puppy who is now 13 months old. She flew in on the Friday lunchtime ish and I took the Friday off to collect her and then I was back to work on the Monday. I worked a slightly shorter day although my brother called in at lunchtime to take her out. She was puppy penned inside during the day as I wanted to keep her away from the other dog and she coped fine. She continued with that set up until she worked out how to get out of the puppy pen around 6 months. She had a place to go toilet and while it wasn't ideal being indoors our yard isn't super puppy proof so it was better she was inside and out of harms way. Especially being a summer puppy when it was warm. If you have a super enclosed yard I am sure your puppy will be fine. You can leave plenty of chew stuff/kongs etc once you know the puppy is ok with them.
  13. When my girl had surgery for an MPL she didn't need a cone on unless I wasn't watching her. I would be careful with a cloud collar. It proved next to useless in stopping my other dog from getting to her leg when she had cruciate surgery.
  14. Yep Snook other than ringing the guy again and stressing the need he should have his dog under effective control not a single thing more .
  15. Grrrrr off the phone with council and as their was no witness they can't do anything about it so despite the dog having previous history there is nothing that can be done. Seems that unless a dog does serious physical damage they aren't much interested. Just hope this dog doesn't badly injure another dog or a person get injured trying to separate a dog attack.
  16. went up to the school tonight once it had cooled off and Kenz got out of the car and would barely run around anywhere was just constantly scanning the environment. So sad.
  17. Thanks Thistle - yes Lira is fine fortunately the dog didn't approach but I was in a blind panic I can tell you until they were all back safely in the car. All I was thinking is what if it had been 10 min earlier when we were away from the car in another part of the grounds and my two were running. Not that they would approach the dog but the guy has already shown he has no control over it and its dangerous. Rang council to follow up and the ranger is still on leave. I want his job if he can take 2 months off over Christmas .
  18. CC well the real question is more whether you can even see the ribbon on a long haired dog anyway. I actually do remember in our first trial I forgot to put a ribbon on one of the dogs for one of the routines (had 8 routines in a day with both dogs and it had been a long day by the end of it). I don't think I lost a costume mark for it.
  19. - was at the school last night running dogs and guess who showed up. Kenz made a beeline for the car and then I grabbed Lira and put her away. Freaking owner had the dog off-lead as well .
  20. No reason they couldn't. I normally leave collars off mine and tie something like a ribbon as a "costume" otherwise they lose points for no costume.
  21. I have never taken a puppy to puppy pre-school either. The potential negatives and harm that can be done by a poorly run class outweighs any benefit which could be gained. Like huski I try have the dogs disinterested in other dogs and strangers. Although I am probably not as strict as the likes of huski in that regard but I do prefer the dogs see me as highly desirable and any thing else in the environment less desirable.
  22. Might have bruised it to if she landed on it funny. That can also cause the tail to sag.
  23. Seriously take up the offer to borrow the 450D above :). They are very simple to use and can be used as a basic point and shoot and still take awesome photos.
  24. I use this one with my border collies and have done for years. http://www.ozgroomingworld.com.au/aeolus-cyclone-grooming-dryer-with-heater-p1483/
