  1. Mine do it a lot, case in point below Sarah's self appointment job is to keep Collie's eye clean which we're definitely grateful for in spring/summer when he gets lots of eye goopers Collie on the other hand prefers to give Sarah complete body baths where she ends up dirtier, this we try and prevent.
  2. last I checked LDH don't work with rescue orgs so this guys best chance will be for someone to adopt him directly from the shelter. (unless something has changed since last month's vigil and current inquiry into LDH's processes and procedures) He's very cute, I could imagine you could get him looking like a very handsome schnauzer with the right hair cut
  3. there are plenty of Kelpie's and Kelpie crosses in WA, that sounds like a breed that might suit your circumstances. Also Tinkerbell looks like a good fit if you're willing to foster her first http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/342792
  4. Ok so I've booked her into to Vermont Value Vet for tomorrow. it's an inguinal hernia and about the size of a plum. Initial vet popped it back in but it came back out pretty quickly and I think it's now a bit bigger than it was initially, not terribly surprising considering her past life as a puppy farm breeder and being part poodle Sarah is too bouncy for her own good. So I won't say which vet I saw initially (safe to say we won't be going back there) but they quoted $1000, after pushing them I got told that was worst case scenario, they required more pushing to give me the best case scenario which was $600, I got quoted between $400 to $600 at vermont :p
  5. Can anyone recommend a vet in ringwood? Mine just tried to rip me off big time on an umbilical hernia repair so it's safe to say we're shopping around
  6. :p pun intended? and I did a quick FB search for the iggy club, check out ronin in all his photo bombing glory https://www.facebook.com/groups/132540896955311/
  7. So friggen adorable perse And despite the fact that he's such a youngun I've decided to nickname him Silver Fox
  8. I tested whether or not Sarah liked my cuddles by giving her a little cuddle and stopping but staying in the same spot. Pretty sure she was all for it when she would scoot closer when I stopped :p But that's just one example of a love like behaviour, each dog is different in how they display it. When I moved in with my hubby I could tell Collie was a bit ambivalent towards me, he would rarely do what I told him to do, instead he would look into his daddies eyes as if to say "Do I have too?" These days he listens to me more than my hubby and if invited up on the couch will quite happily curl up in my lap even if hubby's lap is on offer. So I think we'll call that love Collie gently pats the ones he loves as well
  9. Thanks for the horn tooting steph :p I didn't mention me coz I'm in ringwood :)
  10. If you don't want her clipped do you want her hand stripped? This can be very time consuming and therefore expensive which is why it's generally only done on show dogs. Also has your girl been desexed yet? This often changes the coat which can make it not suitable for hand stripping.
  11. Collie has strained his back a couple of times in the past following a herniated disc when he was younger. vet recommendation for minor strains was a heat pack, aspirin and confinement. Usually after a few days he pulls up just fine
  12. I just came across this post on facebook. Is anyone able to help? Owner has passed away leaving two 7 year old brothers and no-one in the family is able to take them (look like kelpie crosses). They need rescue or adoption by tomorrow https://www.facebook.com/noahsbarkdogrescue/photos/a.207749075903599.59142.202870679724772/920099768001856/?type=1&theater
  13. our dog growing up had his own strawberry pot. :D He always waited until they were ripe and would gently pick them off and eat them when they were nice and red
  14. So if people want to say hi how does outside the lure coursing area at 1pm sound?
  15. geez, I hope you didn't pay for it. I've clipped a couple of spitzes but they had either been done before or there was a good reason. Either way I made sure I was 100% on what the customer wanted before I let them leave
  16. Collie does this to Sarah, usually at night time if they are curled up together away from the hoomans and sometimes first thing in the morning. It's one of the reasons we now crate them separately at night otherwise I'd have to resort to washing Sarah weekly and yes Sarah will also growl when she's had enough, although she spends plenty of time licking collie's muzzle so he gets his own back not sure why they do it, I did actually post on the forum about it awhile ago but there weren't any conclusive responses.
  17. haha the 'oh no don't look now' pic was actually "there aren't any treats, you didn't see any treats" :p
  18. I'd use brown If he was lost the local authorities will use the contact details attached to the microchip number not his colour
  19. Great pics everyone :) I'm now in catchup mode... Week 44/52 Week 45/52 Week 46/52 Week 47/52
  20. gorgeous CC I want all the spaniels :p
  21. Hopefully it all works out, I asked her to let me know how she goes :)
  22. Who's going and how will we recognise you? http://www.dogsvictoria.org.au/GetInvolved/BigDayOutforDogs.aspx and if anyone wants to organise a meeting point at a particular time feel free. I've not been before so I'll leave that to someone more experienced. So how will you recognise me? I think my dogs are pretty recognisable but specifically look for the liver roan cocker spaniel who's confidence outweighs his ability to see and therefore avoid things (with or without santa costume)
  23. That's interesting seeing as Labor were the ones to bring in BSL
