  1. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh she's adorables!!! Stahp!!1 MY FACE CAN'T HANDLE IT
  2. Yeah I've called a few and they've just said generally but they'd have to wait for a claim. Blah. Yeah we have phenergan/polaramine at home all the time from when he was first diagnosed with allergies. I gave him one the night we found the spider just in case. Obviously it wore off the next morning and the vet said he would have been alright with just the phenergan but the injections eased the swelling quicker because it was his mouth it was important.
  3. Been a bit quiet/busy around home lol. Still been lurking. I've been giving him natural yogurt each day for his allergies and it's worked a treat! He loves his dad a whole lot and loves wrestling with him. He's a stunner and makes friends everywhere he goes. Although he's disobedient when it comes to sit and come, he's very polite to other dogs and people.
  4. I'm 5.5 months old now and growing into a massive dog.
  5. Tuesday night Vinnie got bitten by a mouse spider. He was trying to eat it and it bit him, fair enough. He didn't react at the time so we weren't sure if it had bitten him but collected the spider anyway. Wednesday morning he's got a swollen lip and face so off to the vet for a few injections of anti histamines and steroids. All the while he's showing NO signs of being in pain, no rapid heart beat or breathing, eating like a champion and bounding around as usual. My poor partner was so worried he vomited a few times. Other than keeping up with the tablets the vet gave and keeping an eye on the site is there anything we should do? He's also got a bit of incontinence due to the steroids so weed the bed a handful of times despite being taken out every 2 hours. They aren't too common in my area and the spot where they live is my front yard where Vinnie rarely goes. Something tells me a disturbed a burrow when getting kindling for the fire the other day and upset someone. Does anyone know if pet insurance covers spider bites and bee stings under the accident policy as they cover ticks and snakes. Most spiders and bees don't bother dogs much out of the sore/swelling/itchy space. But it's going to be expensive as he has a habit of snapping at bees and crawly things.
  6. He might also be really bored I looked in his yard yesterday and there is nothing there other than the normal food bowls and bed. He gets walked every few days but maybe seeing vinnie with his yard full of fun has upset him.
  7. I didn't know before coming on here that onion and garlic could be dangerous. All the dogs we had ate leftovers full of both. I am now so scared I won't even use a knife or board that's had onion or garlic on it that day to chop up his food. We have bats and cockatoos around and they drop fruit and random crap in our yard too.
  8. He's a really squat aussie, looks more like an english tbh but the owner said he's aussie. I might go with putting a bone out so I can see what he's doing. lol. If I put up any kind of plastic or screening I KNOW Vinnie would kick it to crap. He LOOOOOOOVES tearing at things with his teeth and will snatch at anything flapping or that he can shred. I do have some roofing iron in the yard which I can stick up though. I honestly wish I could throw over an ear - I use the veggie ones - or a bone but he needs to lose weight so I don't want to mess with that.
  9. He certainly couldn't climb. I've watched him try from his side and watched him try getting back in the other day. That's why it's so weird, there are no spaces physically big enough and he couldn't get over.
  10. I'm on friendly terms with my landlord and they'd be horrified if my dog got attacked. I'd doubt that I'd have to foot the bill for it. I think it's more of a negotiation between both landlords, as my neighbours are tenants, who should foot the bill of fixing or replacing a fence when it's the tenant's dog causing the issue.
  11. Oh and my yard has 6-10 different rotating toys at any one time. Made up of bought things and other random junk he likes such a massive bits of bark and water bottles. His favourite right now is a dustpan.
  12. So I've discussed previously about the fencing at my house. Vinnie is totally not interested in getting out and the next door kids have stopped their visiting. The problem we have is the other neighbour's aussie bulldog. While completely adorable and really enjoys Vinnie's company he has some resource guarding problems. Can't say I blame him. We have a chain link fence which the previous dog used to scale, get into the other dog's yard and pinch his goodies. This has had a significant impact on the aussie bulldog. Whenever Vinnie approaches the fence with a toy or treat, the dog will contort himself into whatever position possible to snatch the item away. Somehow, not sure at all becase he doesn't fit under the fence and I've seen his earnest but pathetic attempts to get over it, the aussie got into our yard the other day and I was alerted by different barking than I've heard before. The aussie had gotten into the yard and had pinched the pig's ear, he was making very aggressive movements towards Vinnie and even went for the head a few times. I removed Vinnie from the yard immediately and went to alert the neighbours. I was not going to approach the dog again with the food and left a note for them to remove him from my yard when they returned. The tenants have reported the fence to the landlord who is going to take it up my with landlord and in the mean time we are plugging all holes with bricks and reinforcing the wire along the poles at every point. We still can't work out how he got in. I'm worried he'll return when I'm not home but have removed all food items from the yard. Vinnie is happy to share and wont chase for toys but will for food, he doesn't chase to get it back but more of a game. He doesn't approach the item until the other dog has walked away. He has NEVER chased another dog's ball or his toy when another dog has it. He also doesn't get upset when his toys have all made it over to the other yard. I'm worried he'll attack Vinnie and the neighbour not take responsibilty. They seem to feel I shouldn't allow Vinnie to have toys if he's going to leave them near the fence but how can I train him not to do that? They always throw them back over but I can't get in there to get them back if they aren't home in case the other dog gets aggressive as I need to climb the fence. IMO my fault if I get bitten climbing a fence without the owner present. Would I be right in talking to them about the issue and warning them so they are aware their dog could attack my dog and he has resource issues? Is it also my fault that their dog will bark loudly through the fence at Vinnie even if he's not near it? It annoys their baby. Vinnie has only barked that I've heard when the bulldog has pinched a food treat.
  13. I am sorry for your loss. From what I've been told, dogs do not grieve the same way dogs do. They react more to the change in routine/pack members and the emotions of the people around them. I agree with some rescue remedy and maybe try adaptil just till a new routine is established.
  14. Which one are you going to? Yeah the difference is a huge amount. We have the last week tonight and we are cutting our losses.
  15. Here is Vinnie nomming his fish. We also took him to a sandwich shop in dunneedoo on the way home from dubbo. awww he was so little
  16. We don't take vinnie out on purpose however we walk along a lake with lots of eateries. We've had ice cream with him too. All the places that allow dogs to sit at the tables outside show it by having a water bowl out front. I don't have problems with dogs at tables outside if they are well behaved. Never have done.
  17. We took Vinnie last night for dinner for the first time. I took some kibble so I could use it to distract him but he wasn't keen on it. So we got him some grilled fish and the cafe owner was very cuffed so took a photo for their fb page hehe. He was well behaved and we completely intend on taking him out again. We just need to check menus for things he can eat or take something with us.
  18. He eats anything really but chomped some roast veg the other night and we had dinner out tonight so he had the grilled fish in a take away container.hehe
  19. Vinnie loves his puzzle ball and after I let him squish a soft drink bottle I put treats in it that just fit through the hole.
  20. Same with my lot Mini. We were really worried about Vinnie with the fireworks getting him a few days before christmas but NOT A BLOODY PEEP. Neither the cats. I don't like it and even strong wind bothers me. This lot... pfft. What you so scared of sooky mum? NO WE DON'T WANT FORCED CUDDLES!
  21. I'm also interested with my dog because of potential joint issues. It is meant to help with hip displacia and such by building muscles. I've been in contact with Rogue Royalty who are based in south west sydney who do gear aimed at bull breeds. I'd be interested to hear more from DOLers.
  22. Oh of course steph, it is certainly a huge thing for dogs with their confidence and obedience. If you can do something good and cute for the attention they want it's much better. I'd just prefer to get the basics from someone I'm paying rather than spending $35/hour doing something I can really do at home with him.
  23. Yeah that's what we were going to do. We didn't go last night as OH wasn't well and I simply CANNOT do another class on my own. I doubt we'll be going back for graduation next week as we missed a few 'trick' type commands such as roll over - which honestly I give little to no shits about. My dog can be the best trick performer in the world but if he can't sit, stay, leave it, come and walk properly he's not trained properly. Tricks are just fun and energy burners.
  24. My Big cat is scatty. He will jump feet high over a toe moving. So we are used to mental behaviour. I guess what makes it hard for us is it's such random stuff that we don't understand why it invokes those responses.
  25. Oh this has made me feel much better. Although we had leftovers tonight and slobber chops seems to have forgotten how scary it was last night
