Trainer Wanted

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I am new on here but still have a question. My daughter is getting a puppy and we want to show the pup. We are after someone to teach my daughter all the in's and out's of how the dog should walk to how she should walk. If you live near or around Kurri Kurri, which is Cessnock/Newcastle, please contact me. I will pay.

Thanks again

Hi - what sort of puppy are you getting? Dio you want to learn general obedience or specifically Show training? There is an All-Breeds Dog Club in Cessnock but am not sure if they do show training. On the other hand, someone there can probably help you or put you in touch with the right person. They train on Saturday mornings at Cessnock.

Hey guys, welcome! We're in Mulbring. For show training we go to Hillsborough showgrounds on Tuesday nights from 6.30pm. It's $2 per dog and it's excellent for beginners. What kind of pup are you getting. If it's something that stacks different to the 'norm' like a German Shepherd, then you might have to seek extra training specific to that breed, but otherwise, it's good socialisation (once your pup's fully immunised, which it has to be if you show it) and it will teach you the basics for sure.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the replies.I unfortunately forgot about my post.I am looking at buying a british bulldog for my daughter for her 13th birthday.I am interested in having my daughter taught all the right things for the showring.Unfortunately she isnt the sporty type,we have tried, and at her age and todays society,if she is interested in doing something I agree in and cannot see any harm in then i am all for it.We are only entering the showing I think. We are not aware of exactly what the british bulldog is able to handle, showing, agility, obedience, but we think mainly showing will be the preference.Hillsbourogh might be an option.Do you know how long the lessons go for.

Thanks again

Donna

Hi Donna

Go the bullbreeds LOL

Lessons go for a couple of hours usually, though it depends on whether there's a big show coming up as to how many times you get to go around. I've travelled over there before a big show only to queue for 30 mins for one trip around the ring.

Having said that, it is very good for learning the basics for conformation showing (there is an obedience club there as well but I don't know the details of that) and I would definitely recommend it for the novice.

Good luck

Emma

  • 4 weeks later...

I rang barbara at Hillsborough and she said that the pup had to be 16 weeks before I could take her to the classes and then it is $25 upfront and $3 every time we come. Then they have a school holiday course and that is $100.I was wanting to know from other DOL people about this tuesday night one for $2 and what age did they start at.I want to start training straight away and if I wait until 16 weeks old that will be 2 months away.I still would like someone who does showing who lives in my area to give us some pointers. We could drive to there house in the afternoon after school if they are local.

Thanks again
