Molly, Our Special Little Muppet.

At 5:00pm yesterday, our precious little muppet was put to sleep.

We could only give her two more weeks of life, I just hope they were happy for her. She had two weeks of love, walks, treats and cuddles. Two weeks was all it took for her to shuffle into my heart and make herself comfy.

It breaks my heart that we couldn't do more for her, so many "ifs"....

"If we didn't have other fosters and a Grey of our own, we could've just kept her"

"If we had more foster carers (and one experienced with aggression) she could've been saved"

"If we had more time, maybe she would've settled down"

"If we could just find the right home for her, she might improve"

It was the hardest decision I've ever had to make, I hope she could understand that and forgives me.

Molly, tell Nelson and Jack I sent you, they'll keep you safe until I get there. Shuffle on, little muppet, we will never forget you :dropjaw:

Thank you Peibe and Olly for your kind words, the last few days have been quite hard.

Even though I know we made the right decision, the guilt is still eating at me. I've never had to have a perfectly healthy, young dog put down before and it was a hell of a lot harder than I expected (even knowing that we could never rehome her safely).

At least a few positives came out of it, we've learnt from the experience and with that new knowledge we can better help other Greys.

One more pic, probably my favourite...... Molly at her muppety best

I've been lucky, the 2 I've had with serious "issues" I was able to return to the racing owner knowing they wouldn't be put down. Both were from the same litter coincidentally.

You gave Molly a chance, and that's far more than most of them get.

Hang in there, I'm sure carrying on with the grey work will help :)

I think part of Molly's problem was lack of handling and socialisation as a puppy. If her trainer applies with another dog, I'll be much more cautious (he told us there were no problems with Molly  )
