It can be so very quick in onset. As you say, there's a day or so where they're just a bit "off", and then they go downhill fast :( . But the quick response to treatment is encouraging.

OH CC glad to hear he is responding to drugs I hope Louis will pick up and be allowed home in not ime.

to the WA ladies that got titles on the weekend WAY TO GO and thankyou all for being so patient with me I apoligise if anything I did in the ring impeded your dog at all it was my first time stewarding :)

I had a blast though and TBH I have the bug, I want to bring my girl and boy down.

I want to do both ob and rally so I start with CCD first yes and that is onlead is that right??

is rally novice on lead or off?? and is there an age they must be before they can start, wondering if I can start training phantom the hyper drive pup 7 months old. I think he would do well at this if I can train him for it.

And if you guys are ever getting together for some training with the dogs I would love to pop along with mine and get some pointers from ya's after all I am a completely noob to this :)

Ptolomy I do have a question for you how have you taught your dogs to distinguish from the show ring to ob ring where when one stops its an automatic sit is that right?? Is it just the different collar??

Golly Gosh popped in here and there is a lot for me to catch up on.

How is Louis doing now CC? Hopefully you have both him and your other half home and he is brighter than he was. Again you managed to pick it up early because you know him so well. sending you hugs xx

Hi Emery - you did well on the weekend and I would have given you a pass mark - more than I can say for my obedience kids - or maybe I should say lack of obedience rofl1.gif Kids

My kids were always woeful in the show ring and would often run around looking up at me, but they were usually the only ones being shown - so guessing it didn't really matter. I then started getting Hannah to show them which changed the picture for them - so it was a little easier for them. For my kids they are always taught that the default is a sit in heel position. Bedazzled would be a better person to ask since Brookie was originally a show dog and turned to obedience at 11 months of age - so his default position is a stand.

Hahahaha your dogs gave me such a giggle and a grin on the weekend. Its so good to see that they are dogs and not robots, They were enjoying themselves and I loved that. see too many dogs being dragged around the show ring that you can tell don't enjoy it :)

Thanks for the pass. I will be better at the next one :) I did enjoy myself though and it was sucha nice atmosphere from all exhibitors, I loved the encouragement and how you all took it in turns like it didn't matter who went in next, and the number debarcle lol man that would of caused world war three up stairs LOL.

OK Bedazzled.... same questions rofl.

My young boy doesn't quite have a default yet so that may be a bonus my girl is so easy going I can't see either being an issue with her especially if she realises its different collars which already she does as I use a check for showing not that she needs checking but when we go beach etc she has a flat collar and she knows the different rules ie I can walk out front on check but must loose lead on flat collar and if mum says sit/drop well I gotta stay there :p hahahaha

Cheers Ptolomy, he's still at the vets though as it's tonight he's staying there. My super duper lovely vet sent me a text not long ago to say he was looking good when she stopped by this evening. He has eaten well this afternoon and is looking much brighter :D :D :D

Hope the good news keeps coming CC. :) It's certainly very encouraging that he had eaten and was looking brighter - that should indicate his PCV is rising - so things are going in the right direction.

He's doing well this morning, eating on his own and has been out to toilet  I'll be bringing him home tonight, but he will go back in tomorrow for more fluids during the day. My awesome vet texted me a pic of his urine to show the colour difference  It was dark tea coloured on sunday eve, but pretty much back to normal today :D

Can't wait to bring him home

Rally Novice is on lead, and I found it easier to teach Hemi then CCD. I pretty much self taught Hemi (it probably shows), all I did was look at the Rally Manual and pick up what I had to teach (RN only requires the first 30 signs). Rally is good as you can talk and praise the whole way through

from my understanding, CCD is stricter, you cant talk as much, you give the command, and the dog has to follow. Again I have looked at the manual online and am debating entering a trial soon and giving it a shot.

I hope Louis continues to improve CC! Our furkids certainly like scaring us :o

Varda was shown from 3 months and also started obedience training around the same time (pity I am not so dedicated with my latter dogs  )

Not only is the collar different but the body language is too :) So most dogs pick it up pretty quickly and you can teach them a command to look ahead when showing :) Also if your dog does decide default sit is a better option you just tell them to stand in the show ring :D

Oh CC....so sorry to hear about your poor Louis!!! I hope the poor kid makes a full recovery!! Are transfusions going to be a regular thing??? :(

I hope everyone elses kids are ok!!!

Weve been having our own little dramas with the BRD.....What should have been a simple lump (MCT) removal has turned into a crappy three weeks so far.....Silly stitches decided they werent going to play the game :mad and so weve ended up with a lovely open wound to be dealing with....A vet check yesterday went really well though - he is pleased that the stitches at each end are healing nicely, and the hole in the middle is starting to heal.....I certainly have been catching up with reading and watching stuff Ive recorded over the last couple of weeks. But poor Zola is jumping out of her skin  .....I know all she wants to do is R...U...N....poor kid... :( :(

One hour until I can pick him up  I don't think he had a transfusion in the end LR, but I'll get all the details when I collect him. He'll hate going back in tomorrow, but it's best for him and they want to run more bloods. It will be weekly blood tests after that for a while and then dropping down to monthly.

Poor Zola, glad it's healing now and hopefully she can run soon :)

 That's sounding so positive, CC. You'll be happy to have him home for the night, and he'll be happy to be home. Hopefully everything keeps heading in the right direction now. Healing mojo and good thoughts still heading across the country :) .

Thanks everyone :)

He's been home the last two nights, but back in during the day for observation today and tomorrow. They are culturing his urine as looks like an infection of some sort in there, which seeing as he has been on AB's since last Friday they were a bit surprised with.

He's is eating well and is so much brighter, so very happy with that :D I need to go and read up on the management of this condition now, diet and supplements that can maybe help strengthen him against infections now he is on a high dose of steroids, 40mg a day to start with.

So very glad to hear little Louis is still doing well. I've been hanging out for news of him :) , Well done to you and his vets for getting stuck into treatment so early - has to give hime the best chance. Towes and fingers and paws still crossed for continued good progress.

Hi perth people!

I saw it mentioned somewhere that there was a puppy playgroup somewhere NOR. We're about to get a new addition in 4 weeks and am struggling to think of safe socialising places before her 12 week vacs. Shes already enrolled in preschool, I was hoping to add in something more casual too. Does anyone know where it might have been? I'm in Ellenbrook so hopefully it would be close to here! Otherwise, any English Mastiff owners in town?
