As to the how and why... I saw the breed added to the NZKC list of recognized breeds a few years ago and was interested (liked the temperament and look), then as Elsie was coming up to 3 years I decided it was time for another dog, and living in a very small house and with input from my partner decided a little dog was the best option for us. I don't do fuzzy/wirey/long hair so my list was pretty much composed of italian greyhounds, English toy terriers, jack russells and the pods. My partner realllyyy wanted an iggy, but after seeing soo many through work with broken legs I decided I didn't want to have that cloud hanging over me every time I walk puppy in the forest with Elsie, and my partner wasn't keen on another terrier type dog (Elsie is a lot of dog lol!) so after some careful consideration... and meeting the breeder and some pods in the flesh last year... We decided they're for us :) Everything I've read about the temperament of the breed is appealing, they're cute and generally really healthy too. I've met a lot of people that compete in agility and obedience with them via facebook in Europe... So yeah there you go! :)

HE IS SO CUTE!! Please post many photos when he arrives!

Will you be showing him or becoming a breeder?

There will be many, many photos! :D

We have plans to compete in similar sports to Elsie if it takes his fancy (agility, tracking/working trials and obedience). Going to write a submission to the NZKC so Pods get added to the list of breeds that can lure course for titles too, so will have a turn at that hopefully!

I don't have any plans on becoming a breeder

Fantastic DD! And CUTE!!!!!

So so pleased for you. You've done an awesome job with Elsie and I look forward to watching your Pod Journey :D

Thanks! :D Elsie is very spoiled and it will be a shock for her not being the absolute centre of my universe 24/7.

She has been trying to get used to the idea by trying his new collar & harness on!

My Bergamasco baby is nearly 8 weeks old & he will be coming home when he is 12 weeks! Not long to go now!!

I have named him QUI, pronounced KWEE, which means HERE in Italian!

OMG! Bergamasco! When you get him you need to start your own thread and keep us updated on this little dude!

Ok we are officially 6 sleeps away from the arrival of NZ's first Portuguese Podengo Pequeno smooth :D

They same goes for you too!

I've seen you talk about them since I joined up, I'm so glad you managed to get one!!

Well things have fallen into place for us for once. We will be getting a Cane Corso pup after Easter. We were looking at the corsos a while ago, and my hubby swayed us in another direction but we helped a friend with sourcing a corso pup and I got my way and we will have a little (not for long) corso pup. Hubbys happy as well.

This is our little boy Bodhi. We are so excited. He doesn't come home for another few weeks.

He's my first dog ever.

Where do you dog lovers suggest taking him whilst he is still undergoing his injection schedule.

I want him to be a well socialised dog considering he's going to be so big.

Someone said put him in a trolley and walk through Bunnings -- do they allow dogs? (Love the idea of it).

Try again.

Is he a Ridgie?

He's very cute regardless.

When we got our male pup, we just carried him around everywhere, including taking him to cafes, but making sure his feet didn't touch the ground and he loved all the attention. He's now a very sociable boy.

He is gorgeous Maznat!

In regards to bunnings i think its an individual store thing.

So maybe call the manager and speak to them beforeheand :)

I too took my pups many places, just carried them.
